The C6 Corvette Z06 and ZR1 has a parasitic drain issue causing dead batteries and eventually, the need for a new battery. There's not much choice for replacement batteries, but I found the best option for the money!

Hey Jason, Fellow C6 Z06 owner here. The tire you want for that power level is the Michilen Pilot Super Sport. Awesome tire with outstanding treadwear. Good traction when the tires are warm.

Right now, I have the Michelin Pilot Sports. I have always liked Nitto tires, and the INVO seems to also be a good choice.

just fitted that same battery group in my pt cruiser ... Tis" the biggest size that will fit the battery tray ... way better than stock ... sams club are doing $20 off automotive batteries right now ... so I got the most CCA and biggest fit for the money !!!

I just replaced my 2008 Z06 battery. It was a Delco 6yr (which you can't buy any longer). I bought car in 2012, so battery was 8+ years old. Not bad. Sam's no longer had this Duracell battery. I picked up a Duracell Ultra Premium AGM battery Group 47 from Batteries Plus Bulbs and although it was 1/2 - 5/8 inch taller I was able to use the stock hold down bolts. I put them in the upper slot on the base plate, and there was plenty of threads to put nuts on. I slipped a piece of utility wire loop under old battery to help pull it out and had to use masking tape to hold tie down bolts in place on the install. Thanks for the tips.

Note: odyssey is made with virgin lead internally!!! Huge plus!! Well worth the price! In many cities, the fire trucks, ambulances & police cars use Odyssey!! One of the best on the market... FACT

Funny, I was putting my battery maintainer on, again. I noticed if it sits for just a couple of days, the battery drops a bit more than I think it should. The car is new. So yeah, something is drawing all the time.

Duralast Gold T5-DLG is an exact replacement of the AC Delco OEM battery. Easy swap and no issues.

That was one that I was going to get because lots of guys have had good luck with them, but when I saw the reviews for the Duracell, that it was an AGM battery, and the price compared to the Duralast thought I'd see if I could make it work. I did. :)

Mine had the issue... but now it doesn’t?! It has had the same battery for several years, and it even holds a charge for 6 months when it used to die after 2 weeks.

I don't know for sure, but that sounds like a connection problem of sorts. I'd have the electrical system checked.

How is that battery holding up? I’ve been through 6 optima red top batteries in 4 years. Optima batteries are not as good as they used to be.

A $30 trickle charging Battery Tender will do wonders for your Optima. The simple bolt on "plug in" charging system works wonders. I've got a now 24 year old TRD Supercharged Toyota 4 Runner Limited running a 2 V12 Alpine Amplifier system. I just put my 3 Optima Red Top Battery in it last year. It's only the 3rd Optima I've put in it since 2005. I just added a yellow top to my '10 c6 GS Vette last year ... also with a quick plug-in charger.

Did you find the battery loss yet??? In our region our batteries are much wider (AC delco) and we do not have the same problem (we also dont have onstar)

I did not...I honestly just haven't thought about it much lately. I did remove my Mild2Wild switch, some think that contributes to the problem. I do still need to see if I can trace it down.

Z06 and ZR1 have them in the rear. The dry sump oil tank is where the battery is in the other models.

I just got this 2007 z used. Battery died. It’s voltage is about 10. I think it’s shot. Did anyone find a cure to the parasitic draw? I think another problem is that auxiliary stays on for a few minutes. Do you know how to shut the car off and accessories? Thanks

There doesn't seem to be a concrete answer as to where the draw is. Some say the OnStar, others say it is when you use a Mild 2 Wild. Hard to tell. One of these days, I will need to get my multimeter and dig deeper into it.

Jason's Garage can you do me a huge favor and help me find this battery, or something you think is comparable? Autozone had a duralast for $140 with a 3 year warranty, 650 cold cranking amps. Is this one ok?

If you already tried that and struck out, the Autozone battery is a good second choice because I read that Duracell and Duralast AGM batteries are both made by East Penn (Deka) and may be extremely similar if not the same. I did consider the Duralast but the Duracell is much less expensive at Sam's. There's also Autocraft AGM, which are at Advance Auto Parts. They usually have great coupon codes which helps to keep the cost down. I also read that the Autocraft AGM units are made by Johnson Controls, which is also who makes the non-AGM Duralast batteries. Again, this is based on what I read so I cannot guarantee the accuracy, but it seems to be the consensus. Good luck, hope this helps!

Get a manual (mechanical) hand turn round battery disconnect switch. The car can't draw down the battery if the battery is disconnected from everything. It also prevents theft by starting and driving your car away.

C6 Z06 and ZR1 models are in the back because they needed to make room for the dry sump oil tank...which goes where the non-ZR1 and non-Z06 battery usually is.

Can you not hook up a cut off switch to batt and when your ready to drive the car just hit the switch

Yes, but I do believe that anything that requires power such as radio settings, etc. would be lost. Plus, that's not as cool as this solution. ;)

No problem. No. Same specs as the AC Delco and Duralast Gold size 90.

@@jessemcdougall-douglass162 OK. it is still a good choice for not being an AGM battery. Perfect fit if you don't want to go through the slight modifications. Look for specials and coupons and you might get it on a good deal.

I have a 2011 Grand Sport . I am going to get the Duracell AGM . I called sams and they say the 47 (H5) does not fit the grand sport . They are telling me its a 65 or 85 ? Did you use the book when you got yours ?

The book will not say it will fit. As I demonstrate in this video, it is a bit taller than OEM and you need different bolts to account for that.

@@mr33406 I don't see why not, I don't think there were any differences in the battery cubby between the GS and Z06. It fit just fine in mine, still have that same battery that I installed in this video.

I like my Optima yellow top since I don't drive the car much. I bought it direct from Optima with their best charger and they extended the battery warranty a year.

@@davidwhited I've always had good luck with Optima over the years. I would normally buy an Optima over anything else but I wanted to balance cost vs. accessibility. Meaning... I said, "I wonder how cheap I can do this by making it fit today?". I found out. So far, so good!

It's in a compartment but I need to break my knuckles to make it secure??? Umm.. Where is it going to go except in the same compartment. Sorry I'm dropping that sucker plugged up and rolling. My aftermarket exhaust will limit me hearing the rattle.

How about if you were in an accident? The strap keeps the 40lb battery from becoming a projectile.....there's the answer to your ummm where's it going to go question...that little plastic door isn't going to stop that thing from flying out of your beloved compartment...might as well just hand tighten your lug nuts from now on too, what's the worst that could happen..

@@InJasonsGarage I just put in a redtop 34 in my base model Corvette. Fits perfectly and is a stronger battery than the 35. With the z06 models though guys have to listen the battery cable ties to gain the extra length to reach the mounts on the 34. I still think it's well worth the hassle. The battery is awesome.
