The ultimate setup for catching fine beach gold. Move black sand more efficient with this setup. 8.25 square feet of sluice for black sand. Next year we will be adding 1 more square feet to the sluice to get near the max of 10 square feet of sluice.

I'm shocked at the loss of gold in that stacked gold cube. But it stands to reason that the cube is loading up with black sand and the gold is floating across the top of the black sand.

Looks like the set up I used up there when I still lived in Washington, you had more gold cube trays though. Have you considered using a miller table to clean up all the fine gold? Enjoyed video, keep em coming!

Nice setup. Couple things I would do differently... 1. Lower your cube height. 2. Cut 2 holes in 5 gallon bucket. Top hole horizontal with a 5 in diameter pipe by 3 foot horizontal tube with a screw auger to automatically push sand which can be dumped into it 5 gallons at a time. (Saves you the trouble of having to manually spoon out sand into the cubes so all you have to do is check to make sure its working and keep feeding as necessary). 3. put a spray nozzle facing downwards on the sand as its being pushed to the end of the 5 gallon bucket to stratify the sand. 4. The second hole in the 5 gallon bucket is at the bottom, which can be adjusted as a vertical slide to adjust water and sand flow to the top of your cubes. 5. In the center of the 5 gallon bucket, the lid has a hole drilled straight down and a tube with rare earth magnets glued to the inside of the pvc tube is inserted vertically into the 5 gallon bucket and attached to the lid with a handle for easy removal. The stratified sand falling from the auger and into the 5 gallon bucket filled with water will enable the rare earth magnets to pull the black sand to the vertical pvc pipe and will save you from having to manually pan out that black sand later. Hopefully saves you some time and work.

You could even do this. Mount an old battery powered or corded drill and use it to power your screw conveyor which pushes sand into your cubes. Just bring extra batteries. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cDSpEh2wi3U.html

@washingtonbeachmining7736
@washingtonbeachmining7736 6 лет назад
Yes it works great for some guy trying to piece something together at lowe's in the plumbing section. They are called Rubber Sheet. It's usual in a box in bulk with no package to them. They make them thick and thin. I used to thin pieces together. I trace the pipes inside diameter to the rubber sheet. Then cut it out. Fits perfect over the pipe. keep the rubber wiped with armor all during the summer months as they dry out quick by the sun exposure.

so, a couple of questions. what gph pump are you using to get that flow that high? and i see you using gold hog product, and i use the mats in my trommel set up, so why not use a different pattern of various gold hog mats that might save having to haul all of those gold cube trays out there and having to run so high? i do enjoy your videos, and being from Washington i'm sure to make it to cape disappointment some time after retiring! cu out there!
@washingtonbeachmining7736
@washingtonbeachmining7736 6 лет назад
1100 gph pump. I do have multiple gold hog sluices and mats but save them for the river. I find it easier to use this setup instead of a 10 foot+ long sluice on the beach. This beach allows up to 10 square feet of sluicing space. It just easier for us to use this setup. See the newer videos of this setup as we made improvements and watch for more videos coming out in the next couple of months. If you see us come say hi.

Have you considered making a hopper to dump the sand into the slick pan ? Using a small DC 12 volt gear motor underneath to turn a section of pvc with some slots cut out to feed the sand into the slick pan. You could use a small potentiometer to adjust the speed??
@washingtonbeachmining7736
@washingtonbeachmining7736 5 лет назад
love too but it works out the way i got it going
@icolorcontactlenses7607
@icolorcontactlenses7607 5 лет назад
Was thinking the same thing, load up the sand and sit back as it's fed automatically, and at optimal speed, you could run way more sand doing it that way.
@rodkirt9273
@rodkirt9273 5 лет назад
iColorContactLenses My first idea is to get a large funnel, attach a five gallon bucket on top with the bottom removed. The feed rate is controlled by slowly dripping water from the top using a small valve to regulate the rate.
@seahawks1185
@seahawks1185 5 лет назад
Look at the bucket feed system on the shaker table by Fred dodge, there is a video, like that but a bigger bucket and you just raise or lower the bucket to control the rate which it is fed in.

I got to thinking about your pump.... With that much lift your 1100 GPH pump is probably only putting out about 900 GPH.... Have you thought about stepping up to a 1500 GPH or so?
@washingtonbeachmining7736
@washingtonbeachmining7736 6 лет назад
Thought about it but when i shut down there is no sand backed up anywhere in the cube. The black sand here is all +100 to -300 so that small does not effect the GPH. Other beaches or rivers, yes you might want to bump it up some but always check after a few buckets to be sure.
@williamfoster7920
@williamfoster7920 6 лет назад
I agree to a point..... However the concept and physics behind the gravity well is to creat a low pressure area just below the upthrust column coming out of the well..... It creates a dead zone where the heavies fall out quickest.... If your not finding the concentration of gold with in an inch or two from the well and see it evenly down the mat then the system is not running optimally. I mine the Oregon beaches and our gold is -100 and smaller as well so I am very familiar with the realities of dealing with this fine gold. I also re-run my cons/tailings and always capture a tiny bit more... At some point it becomes an exercise in futility...lol Heavy pans.....:-)

Saw a guy in NZ doing beaches with a double stack boil box (no mats) trash pump rig on a trailer frame. Just tow it out on the beach, get close to the water line, dig a starter hole and just stuck the intake nozzle in the hole and let her rip while he sucked beers. Used purple fleece under a header box for cleanup and that damned thing looked like it was gold painted when done. He would dry and burn the fleece then pan the ashes with soapy water (no floaters). Looked like multi-ounce runs in a day.

Generally speaking it has to be assayed and/or refined, or sold in market as say nugget/geological specimin. If you find powder/nuggets and just hold them actual value is indeterminate. Taxes apply to trade or what has entered the economy. Exceptions being treasures found which have some estimated value coins especially.
