Love the old videos of a dealer at work. We had a still old time dealer or two when I started farming in the early70s, they often made house calls to just keep you in mind of their products and bring out a few supplies to save you a trip to town. These new corporate outfits don't care, you damn near have to beg them to even waste time to say hello! Many of us still use these old tractors just for enjoyment, on real work too. We put up hay with our old fleet of Farmall M and C tractors and early balers. I hope the farmer in the video held out for another year and traded for a new M! They came out the next season after that late F-20. Those M's were light years better and still comparatively modern yet today.

"I bet I could get another 10 years out of this tractor" 😂 That dealer would have a hard sell if the farmer knew people are still using the same tractor 80 years later.

Guys... I get the idea that there are older and older tractors being used as time goes on, but come on, who is using a Farmall regular for anything these days? No one. They are less than common even among collectors; I've never heard of anyone using one for anything other than hauling to a tractor show. F-20s like the one being sold new in this video are more common, but I still don't think being used anywhere. If anyone today is "using" a tractor built before 1940, I want to know what they're using it for!

@@TonyM132 We still cultivate 40 acres every year we grow corn with our F-20. We've been doing that since 2014. Of course my videos don't show all 40 acres, I didn't have too much time to screw around taking video.

back when they would try to sell you something new and tell you details and what it can do compared to the older models and actually be convincing whether it is old tractor or old car commercials

"Foot brakes? What for?" Mighty convenient when you're using these new-fangled rubber tires! Variable speed governor... adjustable throttle! Wow, hard to believe now that Farmall regulars had no adjustable throttle and just ran at one fixed engine speed all the time, huh? 🤣 This video must have been from the mid 1930s, since F-20s came out in 1932 and an original Farmall could be 10 years old by 1934. What stands out to me is that although tractors have changed so much it's hard to even imagine the two points I typed above could be news, the salesmanship really hasn't changed much at all. Salesmen were already using the same familiar methods 85 years ago!

Probably shot around 1935 judging from the rubber tires and the V-belt.

@@troyswanson7762 Don't forget, they began painting red in 1936. This tractor wasn't red, so it must be older than that.
