Riding down the crack pipe (3:30 on) sounds like you've got the rear locked up a lot & are struggling... Could I suggest something to try... Go as slow as you feel comfortable with at 3.30 but try to do it with front brakes only... (use the rear if you need.. but just try to do a section like that with out the rear brakes... find how much pressure you can apply.. you should be able to stop completely as the front loads into the ground more, the rear just slides (even lifts off the ground if the front is applied heavily enough) so rear brakes are actually just as much BAD as they are good on a track like that... Personally I spent years on MZ trail bikes and on some slopes applying any rear brake would just lock up and the resulting slide made me feel the front was going to slide... doing the same piece with only the front I found I could apply MORE on the front, and if it did slide, a quick release/catch (modulation) and I was back on the front brakes without runaway... another trick is on a steeper section, light brake through and heavy brake in the hollow beyond it.... I haven't watched enough of your videos to really 'have a right to comment' but if you are finding you're sliding the rear a lot down slope sections... I really do suggest trying one you feel safe with (maybe that has a good run off) where you can really load the front brake... Some of those tight turns would make me nervous... but there seems a lot of room for braking lightly through (picking up a little speed) but then breaking just as you straighten up. Hope I'm not completely misinterpreting that section (and your abilities)... and I am by far not the best rider on the tube (mediocre at most).. but that's mainly because I enjoy the tech bits, but not eating dirt, and have spent my entire life fixing things for people so if I can help anyone be better than me.. I'm all for it..

Thank you; really appreciate this. These 'steep' bits are a real problem for me, and I really do intend to work on that, so it's helpful and I'll give it a go. I hate how the rear locks up and feel like I should just be able to get off the brakes more 🤣 thanks for the comments 🙌

@@MTBLaura I found practicing a hard handful of front brake on a nice flat bit of gravel road at slow speed. You will probably put your foot down at 1st but try to get to a point where you can skid the front, release the brakes and still be upright.. I even add pedaling with that to where I can skid over 1 meter with the front locked up... all works toward trust/confidence in those front brakes... Really the rear are only good for slow upright braking or slide turns when your skill is up to it... You may be amazed at how much grip your front wheel actually has... to the point where you can get the rear wheel off the ground on dirt track under braking. (useless side note, I rode a college national as a spectator (friends driver) at about 30yo circa 2000... I ran a fast ridgeline, bending into the forest at the end and forgot I was on a MTB, not a motorbike.. hard on front brake, rear wheel in the air, turned slightly to avoid a post... oops bikes gone... superman off the track. Poor guy (also a spectator not competitor) behind me rode into my airborne spinning bike... I actually dived above the track but below the tape, off the track and into a pine needle down hill soft slide. uhh... so don't try nose standing at about 50k is I guess the lesson for the day... q8D
