True... But here we're talking about multimedia production, on the other side of whatever TV screen you'd use to look at it: knowing that your TV will have its own flaws, details in terms of quality rendering are of higher importance.

@@astalecookie6778 It doesn't change the principle. Being into "casual photography", I've just acquired a Canon EOS T8i, marketed as "entry level". Which it is when we base our appreciation on pricing along some features (but that I don't need, e.g. 4K video - although dual-pîxel AF works very well in 1080p 60ips mode). You can play around the triangle ; you can change lenses (and use high quality ones if wanted) ; you have 24-25 Mpx, which is largely sufficient unless you want to create gigantic wall posters ; it allows you to deliver professional grade photographs ; it provides one of the best (if not the best) AF system. *But most importantly* : the *_results_* that can be viewed on a TV screen or whatnot, _can be_ of a professional level, as it would solely depend on who's taking the shots (on the photographer's talent). Of course, if I was a pro photographer making a living out of it, I would acquire a higher end camera, especially for vlogging in 4k, take more stills per second, etc. Here, the T8i is cheaper than the M50 Mark2 because it's a reflex camera, not a mirrorless. However, it delivers the same image quality - and more with sharper images. Something else to consider : *Canon's "M" line (along the M50 etc.) has been abandoned, to make room for the R7 and R10.* Canon will not develop new lenses for the "M" line. I don't know about EF and EF-S, but the cameras that can accommodate them (like the T8i) already have a wide array of lenses for the choosing, thus it wouldn't be as impactful. *NOTE:* after a second reading I've noticed that we're in a context of videography and moving pictures, not still images. Where the differences from an entry level such as those 2 cameras in the clip, and a pro/high-end level, are very noticeable in the results (and the gear). Thus what I wrote above is irrelevant, my apologies.

Thanks, cannot wait to get mine on Saturday. I just ordered it through Amazon. I just returned a GoPro Hero 10 hoping that I could use that for my RU-vid channel, but it didn't work out for me, the darn thing overheated and shut down right in the middle of a cooking video. Really upsetting, I lost all the video, the most important part of the video was gone, so then was the GoPro Hero 10, bye bye..

@@abidshahriar9138 it's mainly for video, but it's perfectly capable of taking good photos. The main downsize is that it doesn't have an EVF (electronic viewfinder). So if you are looking for a stills camera I would not recomend this one. This one is great for content creators.

@@josetjaw8161 I’ve not shot on 1080p in a long while, but considering I’ve never experienced a limit with 4k, I imagine 1080p will be infinitely better.

We shot like 18 videos a day and compared to our Canon M50 II, the Sony was heating up after every 50 or so minutes.

Beat me to it. Set to high shouldn't have overheating problem. However, I have never used in like 100+ F temps.

@@ankitgawai2467 I would say the zv1 is more compact and portable option. Let's say that you're inside a store and you just want to shoot a couple of minutes really quick then yes, having the zv1 sounds like the best bet.

Also they could have mentioned for a bit more money you could get the canon eos rp at $899 msrp and either get an adapter with a cheap lens or an rf 50 mm bit more pricey than these two cameras but you have a full frame camera that is very capable of getting great quality compared to these cameras without spending eos r5 r6 or even eos r money

I think when people have to choose between a pro and a beginner option its mostly because of financial issues. Of course everyone would rather have a Red or an Arri.

Exactly. The way I see it. RU-vid video production will always live in the beginner category. Until smart phones are able to broadcast in 4k, the compression reduces the advantages of shooting in 4k. Not to mention the need to upgrade your hardware in order to edit that 4k footage. The M50 with the adapter, is more than enough for the average RU-vidr. The adapter opens up the full range of Canon lenses. The largest on the market. Aspiring filmmakers should probably go with the Sony. Aspiring RU-vidrs, the Canon.

@@PWingert1966 Makes sense to me. I don't understand the need to shoot beyond 1080p when you're talking about youtube and standard cinema. The 4, 8, 20, 50K stuff seems more applicable to high end 3D animations, video games, metaverse type content. Creating entirely new digital worlds. Even Hollywood movies when shot on 4K cameras is edited in HD and scaled up to 4K. It's not true 4K. So why would a youtuber even need to deal with 4K? People seem to use it just because it's available. Not because there's any real improvements on 1080p.

@@sentry8992 I have a friend who does advertising photography for in mall billboards. He needs the 50Mpx since what he shoots gets transformed into 8 story high by sixty feet wide in mall advertisements! But given the eye can't really see beyond about 2.5K 4K is just marketing for most of the applications. It's great in the security camera industry where they need the resolution for getting suspect details and images but that's about it!
