Kathi Rolls, Biryani, and Ragulla sweets are some dishes that Kolkata is known for. In India, biryani is prepared in different ways according to region and Kolkata is no exception. The Kolkata biryani is known for its egg and potato in the dish, and I totally agree that it is a MUST.
Bengali food is also prominent in this city, so in the final two locations, we tried the traditional and modern versions of the cuisine.

I believe that the best way to learn about a countries food culture is to eat with the locals. These ladies were so nice to take Mike around, not everyone would like to be filmed while eating. I find the food in India quite intriguing.

I'm Bengali but brought up in London. The best biriyani I've ever had is when I've gone on holidays to Kolkata. I've even made my mum smuggle it back in her suitcase lol. There are like a million Indian restaurants in London but can't get Kolkata biriyani 😭😭

Aditya Aswal, we had a wonderful time traveling for a month throughout the North (Leh) and East (Imphal, Nepal, Sikkim, Manipur and Delhi) with my daughter-in-law, who is from Imphal. We went in and out of Delhi several times and the traffic was wild, but we really enjoyed Delhi. ❤️

I have spent around 4 yrs in Mumbai... you hardly any authentic bengali dishes in Mumbai although there is Bijoligrill in Powai...Oh Calcutta has few outlets and few takeaways offering Kolkata biryani but those are far from authentic

Compared to all the foods I have had in the world, I would say Indian and Mexican food has the most flavor and ingredient. Chinese food is healthier with their steam fish dish with simple soy sauce and rice. Asian continent has incredible food.

Indian food is the healthiest overall. The vegetarian cuisine in particular. I think everyone who watches these sorts of videos loves food from everywhere but for me I'd say I love Indian the best overall, and Italian after that.

@Chris Gray you probably haven't had real Indian food anyways. Outside India, Indian food normally is just Punjabi or Tamil food. Try northeastern Indian food. It is probably much much healthier than most dishes you probably ever had

This is the first time a foodtuber did an excellent job covering Calcutta! This is perfect in so many ways. And btw, it's no use comparing a mutton tikkia role with a proper mutton role. A tikkia is usually made from liver and offal with tons of spices to tone down the harsh flavours whereas a mutton roll just has chunks of... well... mutton. And imho, Zeeshan's better than Nizam's.

omg they started with New Market, my favourite place in the whole world! AND THE PARK CIRCUS ARSALAN! And yes potatoes are the star. Oh god, I miss Zeeshan. Bengalis and other east indians don't use utensils, and also some from the south (although im not sure which states specifically) but among Bengalis almost know one uses utensils its just some pretentious kids that can't even speak bangla without an over anglicized accent and NRI's that don't eat with their hands, almost every bengali indian (and also bangladeshis) use their hands

Omg Kolkata...seeing you in a Bengali speaking region makes me very happy. Everything looked so yummy, and your hosts were very pretty & friendly. Would be really cool if you visited Bangladesh someday...there's a wide assortment of interesting foods and sweets. Especially if you like fish, there's a lot of different kinds here.
