I read A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder because I saw it on your channel and it ended up being one of my faves of the year. I also really enjoyed The House in the Cerulean Sea and the Daevabad Trilogy was definitely one of my fave reads in 2020. I’m also reading The Final Empire at the moment because I’ve seen so many people on BookTube rave about Sanderson.
I read Pet because you seemed so hyped about it and I loved it. It was in my top 10 favorite books of 2020 too. I started 2021 with Death Of Vivek Oji and I found a new favorite author because of your recommendation. So Thank you 😊
I want to make 2021 the year I pick up Sanderson and Hobb so seeing them both in your top two has motivated me even more! Thanks for mentioning how to best start with Sanderson as that is something I've been struggling with :D
My Top 3 books for 2020 were- Kingdom of the wicked, Mexican Gothic and the city of brass. I still have yet to read Addie la rue but hoping to get to it this year.
My favourite three books this year could just be the whole Fitz and the Fool trilogy! Honestly Codie, you have so much to look forward to in Hobb's books. I've never had a reading experience like it. I would be interested in hearing you talk about about Hobb and Sanderson together and what you like about each author. I haven't read Sanderson yet but I think he will be the next fantasy author I go to.
Hiiii, Codie! So many great books here! I love watching other ppl's best books of the year. My TBR's constantly growing, I can't take this! So happy you enjoyed Addie LaRue, it's such a beautiful book 🌈😍 I didnt know most of your 2020 faves, so I'm writing them down and I'll definitely check them out! Kisses!
I've finally added Ship of MAgic to my TBR thanks to you! I'm also planning on reading Addie LaRue and Cerulean Sea this year (hopefully this month)! My top 3 books of 2020 were Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Sadie by Courtney Summers, and Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
I also loved Addie LaRue, didn't make it to my favorites, but definitely up there ❤️😊 unfortunately I was disappointed by And Then There Were None, not sure what I expected when I went into it, but I was underwhelmed 🙃
And Then There Were None was my first Agatha Christie book last year. I thought I had figured it out and was patting myself on the back until there was like an epilogue and I was like no way! I had suspected that person too, but, well, what a twist! I am looking to pick up more by Agatha, but am intrigued to pick up Terry Pratchett and his 42 books in Discworld. I just started watching The Watch on BBC and wondered if it was a book...lol...42 books of interconnected worlds. My top 3 of 2020 are: #3 is An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon #2 is Reflection by Elizabeth Lim And.... #1 is City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty I need to read the Kingdom of Copper to find out what happens, such an epic debut.
I’ve been putting off reading Addie LaRue as I’m kinda afraid it’s being overhyped at the moment. 😅 but you’re making me excited. My top 3: - The Secret History (Donna Tartt) - The Kings of the Wyld (Nicholas Eames) - The Ocean at the End of the Lane (Neil Gaiman)
My top four (sorry, couldn't cut it down to three!) Books of 2020 were Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, The Beekeeper of Aleppo by Christy Lefteri, Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell and The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. All completely different books but excellent in their own way.
My top 3 were The Starless Sea; Call Down the Hawk by Maggie Stiefvater (Dreamers #1, the Raven Cycle spin-off); and The Way of Kings! Piranesi in 4th place. 😊 You've definitely made me want to read Pet by now, and start my copy of Rage of Dragons sooner than planned, and I want to read And Then There Were None in that beautiful edition you keep showing! 😃
I reread a lot of old favorites in 2020, because that just what I needed last year... about 1/3 of my reading in 2020 was rereads. Books overall definitely helped me get through last year. I also read some great new (to me) books! My favorite books that I read for the first time in 2020 were All Systems Red by Martha Wells (the whole Murderbot Diaries series, really... I read all 5 books this year and gave each of them 5 stars!) and What I Talk About When I Talk About Running by Haruki Murakami, which I have gifted to three people already and the ones who have read it also enjoyed it!
Man, I wanted to enjoy Robin Hobb so bad, but I just couldn't. I got most of the way through the first farseer book and I honestly couldn't get into it. There wasn't anything specifically wrong, i just wanted engaged. Such a bummer.
I really don't see you not loving Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell! This year I read and loved Vita Nostra by Marina and Sergey Dyachenko, Rosewater (the whole trilogy) and The Murders of Molly Southbourne by Tade Thompson. Think you might like them too. :)
My favourite book of 2020 is The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. Also I need to start the Stormlight Archives but probably won't be starting it until I finish the Mistborn series. Also The House in the Cerulean Sea is something I need to pick up really soon - I've heard nothing but good things about it.
Was And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie problematic? I've gone back and forth on if l should read it. I'm curious about it, as it's a classic Mystery/Thriller novel. But am worried based on it's original title. Not into reading discriminating content.
Hey Need help!! Should I buy hardbacks or paperbacks? I'm planning a mega book haul but I can't decide. If its hardback than I have to reduce the number of books but paperback I can buy many. Help me decide
If you're looking for another Agatha Christie to read, I recommend Murder on the Orient Express. It's a bit different from And Then There Were None but it's entertaining and the end is just shocking! Crooked House is really good too, if you're not a fan of Poirot.
New sub. I really enjoyed your passion & energy while describing your favs. I've added them to my list. I must say, I hated Addie Larue. For the life of me, I can't figure out why so many people loved it. To each their own lol
Favorites of 2020: The invisible life of Addie LaRue, My Dark Vanessa, The Southern book club guide to slaying vampires, Home before dark, Bunny, Middlegame, The Sisters Grimm, Beach Read, The once and future witches, The thirteenth tale
Awesome top 10! The Boy, the mole, the fox and the horse was one of my favorites too I read it all the time with my kids I think it’s such a great book to read as a family and I treasure it so much!
Top 3: Priory of the Orange Tree (100% LOVED every moment!) by Samantha Shannon, The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab, and The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb (yes, all 3, don't make me pick).
I think my favorites that I read this year would have to be: The Six of Crows Duology by Leigh Bardugo (I can't pick between the two 😭), Scythe by Neal Shusterman, and the Adventure Zone comics by the McElroy Family.
My 2020 favourites would be Elantris, The house in the Cerulean Sea, This savage song and City of brass... I loved them all so much! Can't wait to read Addie though, it is so hyped up.
Because my top 3 are all from 2 trilogies, I'm just cheat a lil: Daevabad Trilogy, read all three in 2020 and loved them, and then The Locked Tomb: Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth, which I am obsessed with. I actually read Gideon twice last year, second time on audible and the narrator is amazing, and I'm listening to Harrow again now
Definitely The House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my favourites of the year. I also loved PET, but I liked The Death of Vivek Oji even more. Highly recommended if you haven't read it yet. X
So many books I need to check out, love how happy they made you! I also had Robin Hobb as #2 - Mad Ship is my favourite so far as well. My number #1 was Starless Sea and #3 Small Island by Andrea Levy :)
My top three reads of the year were Vengeful, the Tin Drum, and Shadow of the Wind. The Miseducation of Cameron Post and Crescent City were right behind those three!
I read mostly romance this year, because they're comfort reads. My non-romance favourites are: a man called Ove, network effect and the blackthorn and grim series.
Can't decide on a top 3, so here are my favourite 9 books of last year (in the order of reading). The binding, eleanor oliphant is completely fine, the diary of a bookseller, the monster who wasn't, the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, the last act of love, a man called ove, you let me in and the girl who drank the moon. From your list so far I read and then there were none and pet and enjoyed both. I already own addie larue and a good girl's guide to murder, just need to start reading 😊 so far I only read assassins apprentice and nevermoor and I really need to catch up with those series. The other books I'm really interested in are the test, confessions, the house in the cerulean sea and the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse and maybe the rage of dragon. And I want to read more sanderson and finally start elantris.
I loved the boy the mole the fox and the horse. I read it when I was feeling really crap and my mental health was just in ruins. It was just so beautiful and although it did make me cry but it did make me feel so much better. The moment my book buying ban is over I am buying Addie le rue and the house of the cereulean sea I didn't get to order them before I entered a book buying ban so got to wait until it's over. Here is to hoping its soon
Kings of the wyld and the Morrigan crow books are my favorites of the year. I've been putting off Addie because I'm scared it will ruin me hahaha. Also just started a good girls guide to murder.
The Test will be for sure in my Top 3, also probably We are the Ants and Rivers of London (read the whole series last year which doesn't happen that often to me)
i love Sanderson and tried reading Way of Kings back in like 2015 but only got 50% into it. but everyone talking about the later books in the series has me interested in trying again maybe.
I struggled through the beginning of Way of Kings honestly! So happy I pushed through and continued but I know the series is quite the commitment haha I think you should give it another go tho, it’s worth it in my opinion :)
@@CodiesBookCorner yeah its such a huge series. but im scared if i dont start now, i probably never will because once 10 books of 1000 pages each are out, i will be even less motivated to pick it up haha
I definitely want to read both Addie and House of the Cerulean Sea! My top three were Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall, Open Book by Jessica Simpson, and Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert.
