We would always recommend to study under proper guidance as these books have alot of material which will eat up lot of your precious preparation time. Instead if you study with good mentor, you get researched content and utilize your time properly.

NID will have a generic exam paper. So no Design exam gives individual department wise questions. They are evaluating your creative ideas and innovations. If you are only studying from books you will have to refer to multiple books. Its always recommended to study under guidance of a mentor.
