I'll use V-brake pads for mountain bike I installed it to my dual pivot calipers TIAGRA and its gives me more braking power even when wet weather

Thanks for the detailed video ...I want to go for SCOTT ASPECT 980 MTB but only downside is that it has both v brakes ...what do u suggest ..should I go for it at the cost of 32 k ??

Hey..Thanks for asking. Scott Aspect is a good bike and V-brake is not exactly a downside if you consider how rarely one rides in rain or wet conditions . Also the fact that bike's wheel (spokes, rim,tyre)and frameset(frame, fork,handlebar)deserves more priority while choosing it and brakes or drivertrain (crankset, chain, derailleur, cassette, brakes) in general should not be your guiding factor. So , performance of your bike doesn't necessarily deteriorate based on its brake type and I hence I would suggest you to go for it👍

Tyre rim damage can also happen due to less tyre pressure or incorrect tyre pressure in different types of roads so I'd suggest you to pay attention there and have a good quality V-Brake installed as Disc will make ur bike more heavy also.🙂

V brakes r better than our cheap mechanical brakes, mechanical brakes are just of no use, and the main problem is all cycles have different callipers and they have different brakes shoes, so if disc pad are worn out, its a hassle to find another one, mechanical brakes branking are also not that great, it's better to go with v/power brakes under 15k,

But overall, har weather condition me aur apne Indian roads me braking superior hai Disc ki..to isko bhi consider karte huye it's a good option. @Waseem: There are lot of factors like: The braking style of a rider whether he applies front brake lesser than normal, he applies brakes at will, he rides in a descending terrain more often, which puts lot of pressure on rims and causes friction and generates lot of heat. Also, with normal braking, you wind up with grit between the pads and rim. This also causes the rims to wear out gradually. So, yes, it does cause rims to wear out but again, it's subjective as to how much🙂

Hey..Thanks for your query🙂 Disc brake me basically two types of oils lagti hai : Mineral oil and DOT Brake fluid. So in order to select best one for your brake. Try these: See if the brake manufacturer has specified any instructions about the kind of fluid to use? If not: As per my suggestion go for mineral oil. @vivek Sapate: You can choose any brake for long distance. Disc brake has better performance in braking when it comes to mud and watery surfaces, otherwise there is no difference in ride quality 👍

Agar aap week me 3 days se zyada chalaoge aur 5kms to 50kms tak chalaoge to go for a mountain bike..mere suggestion se go for any decathlon bicycles as they provide excellent service after purchase ..look for ST 100 and ST 50👍

@hemant:height wise there's no issue, however, I am not sure about the weight. But normally all adult cycles are designed to handle riders weighing upto 110 or so, so I think you can go for it , especially of your brother wishes to ride it for short distances👍
