Probably the two best ESCs for a brushed motor SCX24 in 2022. The Furitek Iguana Pro and the new Modellbau-Regler ASX24 specially designed for the Axial SCX24 and Micro Crawlers in general.
Pros, cons, lab testings and wild life trails to show what is best for you.

Nice review! 👍I use the modellbau-regler ESCs on all my micros, even micro MOA crawlers with dual-esc-setup. When it comes to brushed motors, they are Number ONE.

Absolutely!! I just got my hands on a Traxxas TRX4m and I already fitted their new AS12 LIPO. I plan to upload a video tomorrow or Friday, but I can anticipate the TRX4m with low gears and this ESC is an absolute beast.

@@microrigs Which one? AS12/ (6 to.. 50)? Nice truck, btw! 45° steering!! Apart from the ESC, I see no need for upgrades. Maybe the tires, 3S batteries and heavier knuckles?

@@rcrockcrawler I'm using an AS12/15 Lipo, as the 180 motor of the Traxxas can draw up to 10amps and this ESC can handle that. The ASX24 is cool but can go up to 8amps, so I played safer and went for the AS12.

Yeah... Modellbau Regler is the one to choose even if the furitek is perfect as well, but the Modellbau Regler made some things even better....!!!!

Awesome video! Do you have any recommendations on the 'not so high-end' ? Have you tested any cheaper escs? I've got V1 electro and neither of these 2 are available where I am.

Nice Video! Which Body is this? It looks awesome
@microrigs

It's a body from a Hobbyplus CR18 (also sold as FTX outback mini lc90), I added the grille and headlights of the RocHobby Katana, as it has exactly the same size and fits perfectly.

This looks awesome! Do you know if the Modellbau-Regler ASX24 can work with a stock FMS Toyota Land Cruiser LC80? What else would need to be bought/changed to make it work? Thanks!!!
@microrigs
@microrigs Год назад
Sorry for the delay, I never received a notification for your comment! You can fit it but you need a new radio and receiver. The current unit the LC80 has is 2in1, so ESC board + receiver. If you ditch the 2in1 you need now separate ESC and receiver.

How do they compare to the stock new V2 2 in 1 ESC that came first with the gladiator?
@microrigs
@microrigs 2 года назад
Honestly, the V2 esc is pretty good, and I would keep using it if I would like the controller, but I love using my tiny controllers. Probably the main difference with an aftermarket ESC is that these allow you to use 3S lipos, and plug your favourite radio.

Why do I want to keep a switch?
@microrigs
@microrigs Год назад
Sometimes I just want to get it on/off in short periods of time (from the parking lot to the crawling spot, etc) without opening the body and disconnecting the battery plug! Not super big deal, just kind of lazy 😂

@@microrigs Top video! Surprised you did not shorten the wires ;-) - You should join the German Crawler Forum (if you are able to understand German), much more information there!

Thanks! No, I don't know a word of German, my brain says that English, Spanish and Portuguese is the max he can handles! Lol I actually shortened the wires in the one I fitted, not in the one I showed. Specially the Rx cable that is way too long! The performance and the control is just stunning, specially being 25 bucks cheaper than the Furitek!

@@microrigs In the RtR version wires are of perfect length for SCX24. "Servo" wire needs this length in the SCX24, because the ports sit in front of the ESC. It is a bit shorter than in yours, I guess (did not get a RtR version, since plugs were not available - but finally wire length were made according to my suggestions - the one I show in my video, I made plugs to this ESC and shortend wires to IMO "good" size - not perfect size, because I would even make them a bit shorter, but maybe some people need a bit more length in their trucks) Podemos falar em portuguese tambem, se voce quiser ;-)
@microrigs
@microrigs 2 года назад
Oh! Português também!! Boa!! Is good for the users to have some extra cable lenght just in case. The main question for the RTR version is if it's relevant now that Axial new v2 receiver cancelled the channel 2 port. I never used it because I use my own esc and Rx, but for most users is still the way to go...
