This is basically the system I've been using for years, just with a Behringer U-Phoria UMC22, another budget interface, and an Audio Technica AT2035, it was $200 when my dad bought it, but he bought if for recording, and got a better mic later on, and I got his old one. I can tell you from experience, if you are using a cheaper audio interface, then make sure to be very careful with the usb-b port on the back, mine ripped of, but luckily I had another jack lying around and I can solder. Honestly not sure how you don't have 100k yet, you deserve it, but keep posting, your vids are great, have a good day.
Finally able to watch the video when it's under a 100 views, now that's smth special. Keep up the good work and it shall pay off soon. Side note, this hand reveal reminds me of Corpse's tweet followed by his hand reveal lol.
This is fucking amazing, yesterday I got interested in getting a good mic and stuff and today I actually started researching, can't believe this was uploaded 3 days ago!
Very solid setup! I get virtually identical sounding results with a BM800 cardioid (with pop filter, shock mount and arm of course) and a Behringer UMC22 and everything essentially costs the same. (With some post-processing I don't even need to use the UMC22.)
One quick note about phantom power, most if not all condenser mics do actually do much better with phantom power and you can get cheap mics to sound great using it. It is extremely rare to have phantom power actually damage a condenser microphone, just do a tiny bit of research on your specific microphone to see what the manufacturer recommends but you are generally fine with nearly all of them.
The daily driver ever since the coof shut down the world. Since the M-Track Solo wasn't a thing yet, I had the UM2. Still a solid voiceover setup in 2022.
This is my exact setup (and has been for awhile) and I can attest to the fact that this is the best bang for your buck. The M-Track interface is solid for vocals (not so much if you plan to use it to drive monitors or headphones, though), and the Behringer XM8500 is shockingly cheap for what it is (sounds great and has a solid metal chassis).
i got the same setup but i got a better mic (in my opinion) - se electronics se v2.but this setup is solid, for a beginner to get into xlr on the cheap and there are many upgrades to make later for better sound such as a better mic or even multipul setups for diffrent aplications of recording
Hey man I'm curios. Did your M-track solo die on you by any chance? After I ordered one I found a guy who had 3 of them die on him on in a row all in a few short weeks. Made me paranoid about my purchase.
This is probably a really stupid question, but I don't get any of this shit at all (that's why I love the tutorials after all) and I would like to ask - the audio wouldn't sound the same without the M-Track M-Audio Solo, right? What exactly does it even do, though? Thanks and sorry for being dumb lmao
The M-Track Solo makes it so you can use the XLR port on the microphone. You need to have an audio interface for XLR microphones. Also please do not use an XLR to USB cable because they are not compatible with the microphone.
Also if you just plug the mic straight into the motherboard, the motherboard wouldn't have enough gain to boost the mic to an audible level, especially with less sensitive mic. This would mean you would need to apply a lot of post boost. Which would add amplify the noise from the motherboard interface too, add in the fact that most motherboard have pretty bad noise floor. This would result in a very loud audible hiss in your recording
dynamic mics are actually fine with phantom power, though they don't use it. I run one with phantom power every week with the nature of my audio interface (sends phantom power to minimum of two inputs at once and I need the power for another mic). It's sort of an old wive's tale. However, ribbon mics will be messed up by phantom power, but those are very uncommon and hyper expensive.
Bro! I really need a help to you. I am vscode user so there is a extension named replit for vscode extension. I do not know how to use. So pls make a video about it please!
