Thanks for the review. Us regular folks can't afford $2500+ guns. The MAC 9 really markets towards the majority of the population which just wants a reliable gun that looks good and does not cost an arm or a leg. MAC 9 seems to be one of those guns.
Bought the Mac 9 a week ago. I’ve put 723 rnds through it with 3 different fmj’s and 3 different jhp ammo. Zero malfunctions so far. I’m really impressed with this $1000 handgun. The barrel lockup is very tight with no movement in the barrel to slide. Now, it does have slop in the frame to slide but that doesn’t concern me. I too had screws loosen up. I immediately re tightened and lock tightened them. No screw issues since. Excited for the follow up video. I just subscribed. Thanks!!!!!
Man, I can’t speak to what everyone else’s experience has been, but I think this thing is SWEET! I’ve handled a dozen or so, and they all feel pretty damn good for the price…and they shoot great!
Dude it’s absolutely nuts , it’s way better than they’re saying ; it’s no nighthawk but damn is it a good shooter , it takes all staccato and most 2011 parts , I put atlas stuff and springs in mine , run it in competition , got it end of April about 3k rounds not a hiccup that I haven’t caused
I picked up the Tisas 1911 duty double stack. I'm very impressed, I was waiting for my Staccato P to come in. Fit and finish is good it, it's not as tight as the Staccato but for a production gun it's good and am happy
MAC pistols are manufactured by Tisas. The MAC 9 DS is a modern Staccato styled “2011" but you can get a Tisas branded 1970s style 1911 DS which uses a bushing barrel and GI length guide rod for around 700 bucks that is better than most of the other budget 2011s you have mentioned as well. The Tisas brand of pistols are being slept on way too much in my opinion because they have the quality of manufacturing but come in at prices that are usually associated with janky firearms. I own the PX9 Gen 3 Duty and it is an incredible firearm especially for the price that I paid which makes it an insane value. Tisas/MAC are definitely worth looking into.
I just picked up my MAC 9 this past week. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but that is going down this weekend. I did a lot of research and watched a ton of videos before buying it, and I think it is safe to say that I made the right choice. I have been a Glock guy for 15+ years but not anymore. I will shoot mine before I make any changes. I really like that it takes 2011 style mags, staccato and springfield, which I bought several of. I have also purchased an IWB holster, the MSP, from Tier 1 and an OWB level II light bearing holster from DARA. The DARA holster configuration is for a Staccato P with a Streamlight TLR-1, and the MAC 9 with a TLR-1 fits perfectly. I am definitely looking forward to shooting the MAC 9 and putting in the reps. Thanks for a great video, guys. I smashed the like button and subscribed.
Hey man! The support is greatly appreciated! Keep an eye on the sights though. The front fiber rod is nothing too crazy (had a Shadow 2 so the same thing years ago), but our rear optic plate and sight had 0 lock tight. It got blazing hot and the screws all started backing out. A couple drops and we were back up and running flawlessly.
I shoot for them. I just got mine and with the factory internals my gunsmith did a 2.5 lb trigger job. I put in an 11lb recoil spring, a light mag release spring and this gun sings !
I picked one up and already have close to 8k rounds and it runs amazing. The only thing I did was changed out the recoil spring to 11lbs and played with trigger pull. Runs like a champ.
Just got mine back from Monsoon today... it's even better now! We slapped a 10lb spring in it too, and slightly adjusted the factory trigger. It's amazing!
This suggestion isn’t as “budget friendly” as the MAC but have you guys seen/ tested a Stealth Arms Platypus 1911 DS? It takes Glock 17 mags, insane customization on their website and shoots like a dream I have about 5,000 rds thru mine. It’s a dream. Base model runs $1,500 and full build from them is just around $2k
Not yet, but we would like to do a video of the Platypus and the Oracle Arms 2311 in the near future. Right now as the channel is growing, we don't quite have the money to fund a video like that just yet.
I’m a golfer. I’ve always said a $500 set of a clubs and $1000 dollars of lessons and range balls will beat a $1500 set of clubs every single time. The concept remains true for my other passions of guitars and guns.
I’m at 800 rounds on my Mac and it’s shot flawlessly I have adjusted the sear spring to get it down to 3lbs and put a tool less guide rod going to change the mag release spring to a lighter one
Atlas tool less guide rod 17lb main/hammer spring 12 or 13lb recoil spring (I like the return to zero better with the 13lb ) I shoot comps Polished up the internals and the thing is absolute butter 🤝🏾
You got to review the Apollo 11 compact another $1000 2011 that is getting great reviews. I'm down to the Apollo, the Mac or the Tisas D9r DS9. The D9R DS9 has the most consistent great reviews and is only 799 but, the Apollo 11 Compact is getting great reviews also!
Save your money! Wait for part II when we have Zach and Vinny from Monsoon on to discuss this thing in detail...especially after the Monsoon secret sauce!
Hello guys hope all is well... I will be honest with you I am a huge 1911 fan then the 2011/DS pistols came about and I love them I own a few now and just purchased the MAC 9 , picking it up next week. The only issue I found to be a problem with them is manipulating the controls because of the size of the grip. Which I think they could do a better job with other than that its great. One question guys... What about the MAC 9 needs attention if any??? Thanks guys... Great video and info.😎
Nice review. Watch my video about fixing the issues you mentioned. Change out the mag release spring for a lighter one, tweak the safety, change out the recoil spring, etc. It makes a world of difference for a small amount of money and time.
Ive shot most of the 2011's. I just traded a couple guns and got one of these Mac 9 ds. To me they all are about the same. Its definitely a shooter. So for roughly $1OOO to play with a 2011 you decide. I like my cz shadow 2 and 75 bullshadow.
Great video. I was planning to get the Tisas DS 9 but now I'm thinking MAC. I would like to see a video comparing the Tisas DS 9 and the MAC 9 DS. What would I get for the extra money?
They definitely feel a little more plastic’y’ than the Staccato, but not bad. Mine is getting stippled by Monsoon Tactical right now, and I much prefer that to a replacement module. I’m not sure if there’s an aftermarket or not for that, but I’ll find out for you.
I must have got the best production of the Prodigy. I own both the MAC and Prodigy and with more rds through the Prodigy the MAC shoots so far nowhere near my Prodigy.
We’re poor! 😂 We actually just got 2 new cameras this week to assist in show hits more. We’ve been filming most of this on an old Sony Camera and 2 cell phones! Supporting the channel with viewership helps drive the need for higher quality productions. So, we appreciate EVERYONE taking the time to watch out dumb asses!
Have you guys Tried Out The Tisas B9R double stack 1911? I wonder How Closely the Mac 9 2011 Vs. Tisas B9R compare to each other and compared to the Staccato and All the other Budget Turds like The Prodigy & RIA.
There absolutely is a 1500$ difference. If you had the ability to break the guns down and actually measure sh!t you’d know why. Your P having thousands of rounds through it (and I assume rarely ever cleaned) and the Mac chucking the front sight should have been the tell. Idk how people claim “best” that don’t have and never show any real data 🤦♂️ The Prodigy is a better gun.
Cheap 2011’s have poor frame and slide quality. Pin holes for example.. hammer and sear pin holes are hard to get perfectly aligned. The higher the cost the better the tolerances are here. Same goes for frame rails and slide dimensions. Staccato is able to get these dimensions super tight and do so in mass. No other company can do that currently. The DLC coating on the staccato is far superior to any black oxide or cerakote. All of this adds up to reliability. I’m sorry but I had to mute your video to type this. Seems like typical range employee nonsense.
The Prodigy (for the money) is a piece of shit. I can't begin to tell you how many we've facilitate warranty work on. I've had half a dozen fail to shoot standard brass 115gr that everything else eats without issue. Recoil springs have broken. The Springfield mags are junk (small gripe, but still). They're a sub-standard built gun, with a premium on the name. For the record, we did take these guns apart to compare and contrast. However, the content was really dry and didn't make the cut for the video. The MAC is a much better built gun than people realize...especially if they haven't handled, shot, or worked on one. The MAC chucked the Fiberoptic rod, not the actual sight. I had the same thing happen on my Cajun Shadow 2 years ago. Those rods breaking don't discriminate based on what gun they're on. To be clear, our claim was not that the MAC is better than a Staccato! Right now, it is the king of the budget 2011 Staccato knock-offs though. Lastly, everything has a purpose. The MAC will scratch that 2011 itch without breaking the bank for your average shooter. As an avid shooter (5k-10k a year), you'll want to consider the Staccato.
@@BUCKEYESHOOTINGCENTER when was the last time you actually warranted a prodigy? How easy were they to work with and how quickly did they turn the guns around? Did they actually fix the issues? Seriously…. Both the 4.25 and 5 inch have had multiple changes from Springfield in more recent serial numbers. The 5 inch having the most work with a great deal of mass removed from the slide. The chambers are now reemed (not finished/polished) and the barrel linkage has had improvements to help with lockup and timing. They still haven’t addressed safeties falling out.. I still think the prodigy is a better buy. Specially with the prices being closer to 1200-1300.. Few small changes and the Prodigy turns into a really nice pistol. It’s wild to me to see so many opinions from people who have no basic armors skills or even a basic mechanical understanding yet those of us who actually work on these guns are “wrong” for having an opposing opinion? I can agree to disagree…
You must have gotten a 1 off absolute best MAC9 DS ever made if you think it's as good as staccato... I've handed half a dozen and they were all garbage feeling, and piss poor quality. I wouldn't even compare it to a Prodigy from my experience with them
That’s interesting! I’ve handled 20ish of these and they all feel pretty good, and this one shot so good I’m keeping it. These are easily better made and higher quality than the Prodigy. Stay tuned for Part II soon 😊
So, our intention was to compare the MAC to the gold standard... a Staccato P. What ended up happening was we kept comparing it to the Springfield Prodigy. If you catch our Part II video that just came out, we definitely back peddled on the Staccato comparison, as it's not fair. Thanks for the comment though!
@@BUCKEYESHOOTINGCENTER I said this because I own P ,prodigy , Apollo 11 and Mac9 and I will say all compare to each other pretty fair they all have different and sometimes the same minor issues, I have run my P 2000 rounds without cleaning or oiling since I took it home. Staccato is above average 2011 I will never say they are the best
The trigger isn't bad, and with very slight adjustments can be pretty good with no money spent. The optics plate is holding up just fine for us, though I can see how some could have issues. Lastly, the grip thing is all personal preference. Neither Andrew or I are small folks, so I don't notice it much. It is a little chunky, but not unbearable. Check out the Part II video we just posted. We did address some of those things.
Stacattos are EXCELLENT and If I want a Great 2011, No Matter the Price....I'm choosing Staccato, But I think a lot of Times Staccato Owners get pretty Butt Hurt(like Glock Fanboys) when you compare Any 2011 to Theirs! I'm not saying The Mac 9 is On The Same Level....But there are Places where you can Go Circle Jerk Yourselves and Talk about How Great your Gun is How Great of a Shooter you are with a Gun that already has virtually No Recoil! I own one, and it's Not an AFFORDABILITY ISSUE, so Don't Try The BS tactic of "you probably Can't afford one." Btw That's a Stupid Rebuttal, and Completely Irrelevant! I've Driven Exotic Supercars, and I have an Opinion On those too, But I Don't Own One! Does that make my Experience & Opinion Invalid? NO! I'm NOT a Biologist or a Female, But I can still Tell you what a Woman is!
