Best tutorial on RU-vid. I was following this video for some months now and I finally went and bought an a5000 and is working great with my elgato capture card and the thing that I love the most is that the display on the camera still have all the informations while the hdmi is clean ❤
dude thats an amazing price and it looks so much better than a normal usb webcam ill be recommending this to people who are looking for an upgrade over a c920. Dont forget to sub, leave a like, comment and ring that bell also check out chris's video description on where to find him to talk tech ask about pc problems and anything in between hope to see u around
I grabbed a A5000 with kit lens based on this. The hack worked like a charm. Any other advice or tutorials on the best camera menu settings for video. I’m a photography noob and this is my first camera.
Canon has been having so many issues every time Mac updates OS and I feel like selling mine to get one of these sony instead. My main thing is being able to connect it easy to a macbook, I have another sony that doesn't even need a driver or software. You just plug it usb and it shows up on my OBS for livestream, but that one isn't good for livestream because it overheats after 1 or 2 hours. So, should I get this Sony a5000? Is it user friendly to connect to a Macbook Pro M1 with newest Sequioa 15?
@@Jowannabe unsure of MacOS compatibility but id check if it supports UVC capture cards. Then you get any camera connected via a UVC HDMI capture card, like I did in this video
Hello thank you for the video. I have 2 questions 1) kit lens ( 16-50mm 3,5-5,6) or sony 16mm 2.8mm lens is better in low light and 3-4 feet condition? 2)i have 2 option please choose one a) 232dolars a5100 with kit lens or 167dolars a5000 with 16mm f2.8 lens, with same enviroment condition in question 1?
Hey Dude! Great vid. But i couldn't stop noticing that your beard is about to grow up into your eyeballs! Lol. Just poking some innocent fun, i got a lot out of this video
4:40 you are totally right with that settings save. On Logitech there is no way to save the settings. So bad :( Using Logitech 920c for a 8 years, now thinking for change.
Luckily, at least, I did make a video addressing a way to fix that too ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KOl25a9fAlo.htmlsi=_3_F5mY261g0xsJi
Followed your video and it works! But it works when it wants to. Im pairing it with a elgato 4k camlink, all new name brand cables, and most of the time it wont show up in my elgato software. bummer.
@@toolanddie9789 probably an elgato problem, or the HDMI port on the camera is loose or damaged or the cable isn't making a good connection for some reason. I've only used the camera with non-elgato capture cards so if they do something different for any reason, I wouldn't know. Every one of these I've modified works great, and for hours on end. That's strange.
Like what? HDMI output is set to 1080p, and any other settings like iso, and white balance depend on your individual lighting situation. I did very little with specific camera settings. Maybe making sure continuous autofocus was turned on and face tracking was enabled
Supply might be running low since it's been out of production for a while, but the a5100 has come down in price a little bit as well so might be worth looking into those too. Found an a5000 on eBay with a lens already for $276, or an a5100 body only for $299. You may also want to check your local market (offerUp, FB marketplace) like mentioned in the video. I've picked up 2 more a5000s and an a5100 for great prices locally since this video was shot. Just found an a5100 with a lens for $275. No hack needed with that one, would just need dummy battery and cheap capture card.
I already ordered the câmara and the lens, thanks for the suggestion! Regarding the dummy battery, is it essencial if we are doing 1h, 1h and a half of streaming? Cheers
@@CoalitionGaming Thanks for your answer! And can I buy one without the charger? I mean, can the dummy battery receive power through the charger that comes with the camera?
its a worse version of the ZV-1 but it does have clean hdmi and does decent 1080p and 4k. No optical stabilization but if you don't mind the crop, the digital stabilization works fine. Clean HDMI for use as a webcam too. Its probably the best camera in its price class for what it can do for you.
hey man im about to order the a5000 for about 260$ and it comes with the lens and i just ordered a usb capture card would that make me okay for streaming wise for a webcam could u explain how to actually use the usb webcam if not thats fine thanks>
Would you say that these are good for solo/guest podcasting? I currently have a settup using nexigo and auki webcams , they’re ehh but I definitely want better video quality.
Hey I'm looking for cheap mirrorless camera for a webcam. What I'm worried about 5000 or 5100 is if the mac software can control the shutter/ISO/aperture settings from the mac without touching the camera? Just a few clicks if the light has changed. Is it possible?
Is a 4k camera even necessary though? RU-vid only supports 1080p as does twitch right? I'm using a Logitech c920 and yours definitely looks way better so there IS that lol.
@@CoalitionGaming OK that makes sense. I'd love to step up to a little bit better image quality and maybe something like the a5000 is the ticket. It looks a lot warmer than my webcam
I find em all the time, and scored a few this year for friends as well as a few a5000s like featured in this video. Sometimes the a5000s are priced just so much better than the a5100s though.
Great option! thanks. How do you compare this hack against the use of the camera directly with the video capture card and hdmi connector? I use a mac book laptop and I am not sure if image quality will be the same. What is a clean hdmi connection?
This camera cannot be used in the way demonstrated in this video without this "hack." Clean HDMI means a clean video feed without all the "camera information" like focus box, white balance, shutter speed, etc all showing on the feed
So I’m looking for a camera to use for streaming and I play off my ps5 that is hooked up to a capture card that is hooked up to my laptop. For the Sony A5000 will I need a different capture card for streaming?
Yes. If your current capture card is USB 3.0, then get one of the cheap capture cards I linked in the video description since they are USB 2.0 and can work alongside a USB 3.0 capture card. You just can't have two of the same kind of capture card on the same USB bus/controller.
You use an HDMI capture card. Cheap ones like I used in the testing section of the video are linked in the description. An elgato camlink is only one form of HDMI capture card, many are out there.
I have a old Canon 550D with a dummy battery connected to my pc, but that one shuts off due Canon restrictions because it's not mirrorless. Do you know a workaround for it or do I have to look for another camera? I know it's not the best option but I choose the 550d because I need a camera to film a crafting desk, not the whole room and it was laying around.
I don't know anything about that camera. Id check the canon eos webcam utility support page to see if it's there and if it isn't, then you'd probably have to sell it and get a different camera
I’m a new Beginner and I was learning towards the Sony NEX-7 because they’re cheap online plus it has a built in mic input & I have a Rode Podmic & the Scarlett 2i2 but I had just found out that it doesn’t have Wifi & I don’t know if you actually have to have wifi to stream or not but I do know that I want to do reaction videos & I just want better video quality then my iPhone 13Pro. Any advice would be well appreciated
You don't need wifi on a camera to stream. A good cheap content creator camera that you can record good videos, use as a webcam (with a HDMI adapter and a capture card), and change lenses depending on what you want would be the Canon EOS M50 Mark ii. The Sony ZV-1 is good option that does all that as well minus the interchangable lens. If you need something cheaper, secondhand Panasonic G7s and G85s also fit the bill but they don't have great autofocus so you'd need to manually focus for face recordings and reactions.
it seems nex-7 has old sony color science programmed in, not best according to reviews, and it is not so convincing with video shooting. it has very good sensor and photos. personally, Im dropping this lead.
I heard there can be some lag while using wi-fi. Have you run into any input lag with OBS and streaming while using this camera as a webcam? Even just a second of delay?
I picked one up with a kit lens E 3.5-5.6/PZ 16-50 OSS. I followed the clean HDMI tutorial but the out put is very grainy compared to my C920....... what am I doing wrong? Is it the lens? Please help I picked this up for better quality but its worse.... I have played around with the settings but no mater what I do its sill grainy...
Clean both side of the lens and try your capture card in a different USB port, maybe a different HDMI cable too. Make sure your iso setting isnt on auto, iso can introduce grain, and that any sharpness settings in camera aren't maxed out. A little bit is okay but sharpness cranked is not.
@@CoalitionGaming thanks for the quick reply. I have been messing around with it for hours and sometimes it’s grainy other times it goes away. I guess it could any part. I shelled out for the cam link thinking I’ll upgrade to a better camera again in the future might as well pull the trigger now. I changed ports, cables, adjusted lights and settings. Uhg now I feel I wasted my time and money.
Return it, if you can. Sounds like either the lens or the camera is a dud. Have you tested the camera using it like a normal camera and seeing if it has issues that way too?
@@CoalitionGaming not able to return it…. My fault as seller listed as not accepting returns. It does seem to work fine when taking pictures or recording directly to the camera…… not a lot of info about this issue. Some say a different lens is needed and others say recording directly to the camera while also outputting to HDMI clears it up….
Great video. Love a good hack 😊 So, I know you're offering a better (comparably priced) option to a web cam here, but do you think - with the right lens - this could work for event live streams (not total high end stuff, but mid range streams of school sports, corporate interviews, that kind of thing)? It would at least likely give better images than a mid range camcorder, I'd imagine? Thanks.
@@CoalitionGaming But it should be a Outdoor camera right? Go pro or something equivalent right? im serious, i know nothing about this. Camera Recommendations??
@CoalitionGaming really? It looks different when you did the comparison of the logtiech and the a5000... thee a5000 looks different to your main camera on your video how is that? Os it a different lens? Or do you have filters on obs too??? Thanks for the reply and video btw !!!!
@@ZkReAr-fs5do same camera the whole time. Lighting may have changed and yes optimizations with a little color correction and maybe sharpness filters on OBS but nothing crazy. Same camera, same lens, the whole video.
do you have a 30 minute time limit for recording or streaming? I'm using a Canon EOS 600D and really frustrated by its 30 minute time limit, I cannot stream like this.
@@CoalitionGaming im sorry wrote on to different vid. My bad. But I’ve got another question, do you need sd card to have inside or it fine as it’s connected via hdmi?
What resolution does the A5000 give whenever you are using it for live streaming on Twitch???? Also, thank you for the video! Very helpful in my search!
If you think spending a similar amount of money on a webcam setup when this is in the same price range then I'm not entirely sure where you head is at on this. If you're saying save the money and spend it on more expensive mirrorless camera, lens, and capture card setup then you are completely out of touch with the target audience of this solution.
In some videos beard maybe good, in some videos beard maybe shit In this one is better: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jBXB0ywrX8A.html
