You just saved me a lot of money! Thanks for all the great info! Not just in the drift scene but the crawler scene as well! Budget parts go along way for the average rc enthusiast!
The other comment. You need to make sure you get the sensored G2 version. I bought the unsensored by accident. It does not have boost or timing. The box doesn’t say unsensored, it just doesn’t call out sensored. Big mistake
100% agreed with you. Unless your top level competing the g2 esc is all you will ever need in rc drift and at the price point it is its unbeatable. Ran 2 cars back to back with my xd10 esc and this one and honestly couldn't tell you the difference between them.
Got the sensored combo with the Supersonic sensored 10.5t. I absolutley love it! For the price you CAN NOT beat it. Very smooth sensored set up, and very tunable for the price.
Very cool. I'm using it for oval racing in a mod class. Haven't done a ton of ESC tuning but added a little boost. Would love to see you do a series on oval racing
Thank you so much for all the videos regarding Drift-setups, testing and comparing different components. I'm just about to purchase my first RC-Drift car and was already at 800€ when I thought... well... that's a little too much in case I don't really use it that much or can't even tell the difference due to lack of knowledge/skills. So I will start with a cheaper (but still working) setup, probably spend "like you said" more on a gyro or directly get the DP 302 V4 (if that is compatible) and start from there. I'm usually one of those who say, "who buys cheap - buys twice" and this will still hold true, but I'm also very incapable of making decisions. The more options I have, being it buying something or tuning, the more frustrated I get. So the less tuning options there are at the beginning the more I will actually drive and not tinker. Still not sure about the motor though... You said in one video that it does not actually matter getting a 10.5 or 13.5 as you still habe the gears for adjustment. I'll probably get the 13.5 and some gears because either way - its for drifting and not high-speed.
3racing has actually selling this exact same ESC under the "Xtreme Racing" brand for a few years. I always wondered by this rebranded version had turbo and boost settings that the original HobbyWing one did not have. Glad to see the same one is being sold by HobbyWing now.
Awesome video. Just one day late =) I had Esc in my amain cart with 15% off for Memorial Day but couldn’t convince myself to pull the trigger (sounded too good to be true). I am sure they will have another sale the next random holiday. Thanks for all the videos and info!
Yes! I was just thinking about you all and this video coming. Looking forwqard to your results. My unit is waiting for plugs to solder on and install it, wahoo!
The esc i had years ago lacled alot of tuning. This ESC is pretty good in my eyes with little to compare too in my experience. I do so much tuning on this esc that my throttle cables ripped off and had to solder them back. I would love a high end esc for more tuning options but im content. Ill buy higher end equipment when i upgrade my chassis to something classy..slowly getting my sakura d5 chassis to handle how i want it now and the chassis squats and lifts a good amout fpr my taste .Honestly like how you need to do so much tuning for it to slide right. Besides buying adjustable front and rear arms and front and rear knuckles, i snagged a last instock d5 swing arm absorber for the front shocks that replace the shock tower. Hopefully its comes in today to do more tuning. Im an asphalt drifter
Thanks for the video. It’s on my wish list. Got any other budget friendly suggestions for a rig? No track by me or anything and I don’t feel like dropping another 800 for a garage queen.
First I'd like to say what a great marketing tool RU-vid is, I ordered a sensored g2 minutes after watching your video. Also will esc based turbo/ boost work on any sensored motor, i.e., one with fixed motor timing? My last question relates to throttle curve on the transmitter, can turbo/boost effect be applied via the throttle curve? Thanks, love your channel ❤.
Hello - I hope you like it! Yes - any sensored motor will be turbo/boost capable. Throttle curve and turbo/boost are different and provide a different feel.
I’m very interested in the 10bl2. I bought bl2s slash over the weekend and I’m disappointed by the esc. Weak break, has to fully stop before switching directions and it seems to hesitate a bit at times.
With an ESC like this, you can tune the strength of the brake for sure. You do NOT want the car to immediately switch directions - that will break a lot of parts.
How are you liking the Rlaarlo transmitter I purchased one it has been my main and I have mixed thoughts about it. Now that you have had it for a while how are you liking it?
Are you still liking your RDS Redcat. I've been thinking of getting a drift car and i like to build cars and it will be on sell this month. so it should be a good deal.
Awesome! Glad to hear it! Here is a guide on the 3 popular RTR options: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yRmuX4-UNmE.html Happy to help you source a kit and parts as well, if you choose to go that route.
@RoadsideRC I watched that yesterday. I know kits are always the best value. I see MST RMX S pro, redcat kit, and the Yokomo RD 2.0 rookie kit. What's your thoughts on a good starter kit?
@hyperc5249 Between those - I would 100% suggest you stick with the Yokomo or Redcat. The Redcat will be very solid straight out of the box - and not cost you a lot in upgrades. Yokomo will benefit from more upgrades, but will also have a higher final performance ceiling as well. Instead of the RD kit from Yokomo, if you go straight to the SD, it will have a lot of the good parts on it already. Food for thought.
@RoadsideRC Hey Troy, SD kit showed up today. I went all high-end. Buy once cry once. Zero Traction is right by the house. I have raced, bashed, and crawled for years. But drifting is challenging and going to be a blast. Do you ever make up to Indiana? If so, you should stop by.
This video should get you everything you need: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qNz9g7p3wUU.html I don't believe they changed much with the V2.
Can someone point me in the right direction for “inch down” wheels? I’m planning on building a ke70 Corolla wagon and I want that retro jdm look with the 14-15” rims, but I’m struggling to find that type of rim and I have no clue if I’ll be forced to use specific tire sizes.
You can see some on Super-G website, here: supergdrift.com/collections/rims?page=3 The wheels are physically still the same diameter, but have a design that makes them look smaller, with a larger sidewall, when installed.
Hi there! Depending on your exact goals, there are MANY to choose from. All of them are 2S for a RWD drift car. Here is more info on that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Y0WOUP5CHL4.html
Hi there! This is the charger I use the most: amzn.to/4eV84Nm But you may find that overkill depending on how many batteries you plan to charge. Here is a cheaper option that works great: amzn.to/3xO5jMS
@RoadsideRC I just upgraded from a TQI to a flysky fs-g7p, I haven't tried it yet I'm still waiting for a reciever in the mail. It didn't come with one. (I'm on a tight budget(
Can I use this battery Scale Reflex 2s LiPo Battery 100C (7.4V/3500mAh) w/4mm Bullets with this charger ProTek RC Bc "Prodigy 610ez AC/DC" LiHV/LiPo Balance Battery Charger (2-6S/10A/100W)
@TEExCASH As an example, this is a fraction of the price: amzn.to/3YXPU7N But again - nothing wrong with the D10. I would spend more money on the ESC, gyro, and servo than I spend on the motor itself.
This is one of the better chargers you can get right now, and is probably your best choice: alnk.to/dAmN8lK Here is my main charger (4-port), but guessing you may not want something that big: amzn.to/3Lfh2Y6 A slightly cheaper dual port charger I have also had good luck with: amzn.to/3Ljn2io
@williambrookfield3421 It is OK. It seems you keep asking the same questions over and over. I'm trying to figure out how to help. Any of the chargers I recommended will work with any of the batteries we have talked about.
