Just bought the Hp Elitedesk 800 g3 for 78.99 (Including tax) and I feel like I just scammed the seller.. It said it was an i5-6500 but it actually came with the i5-7500, which also bumped up the Integrated graphics from 530 to 630. The i5-7500 in enough in itself is like 50 - 80 bucks.
Great! It’s still a 4c/4t but under $80 for a pc that can do ok in gaming and good for general purpose is a bargain. Sometimes we spend $80-100 dinning out.
@@emmanuelrodriguez1043 Yeah! The i5-7500 is better than the i5-6500 so it should be less of a bottleneck for the RTX 3050. @@ltzvk It uses 2x4pin one for the MoBo and the other for the CPU, Additional it has a connector labeled "P2", this connector carries the signal to turn on the PSU, PSU status and PSU fan. If the MoBo doesn't detect a fan in the PSU it will fail to boot.
I have an EliteDesk 800 SFF G4 with an i7-8700 as my secondary PC with an A380 low profile and a capture card. It fits two 3.5in HDDs (which was my main concern cause I wanted a large mirrored storage) but still room for a 2.5in sata ssd for cache and the nvmes for OS and programs. I have proxmox on mine but all the OS I have tried other than win11 work with no problem and I got a work around for win11 too and then didn't need it 😂. Only thing I'd consider buying instead right now is an HP Z1 G5 for a good price with an i9-9700 or 9900 cause it has four full size slots but they rarely sell for great prices

Hey the 705 is a tiny pc not a SFF, it doesn’t take any discrete GPU. And btw, you only need 70W FOR THE RTX 3050 LP 6GB. With the stock power supply should be ok. Mine has 180W and totally ok.
@@1mr12 Wait 🛑 ✋. Your computer doesn’t take any descrete graphics card. You won’t be able to put any card in it. Hey, there are different 705 sizes like the 800 series. 705 just means it has an AMD CPU/APU not Intel, I have the 705 G4 SFF (exact same size and ports etc as yours, just a Ryzen 2400G). Same 180W PSU so I think a 3050 LP should also work fine, will pick one up soon. The peak power draw I see for the 2400G online is around 70W. Great video, thanks!
@@gregadams9125 You don’t need it. That’s the “recommended” but mine is only 180W and my card has a higher TDP than the rx550 and runs fine. Make sure your card is a low profile, just connect it, install the drivers and good to go.
Maybe this was already mentioned, but you can fit the Gigabyte model, you will need to cut a little bit of the metal in the right side though but doesn't seem to be a bad modification to fit the card. A video by an user called "Eta Prime" shows this. Either way, I think this combo is pretty nice to get started, we basically get around Xbox Series S results, if not a little better (for one we don't have to deal with paid online, more controller options, etc)

As long as the power supply can handle the GPU, I would look to get an I7 6700. That would give much better performance. I had an old dell workstation with a Xeon E3-1245 v5 and an RX 5600(non-XT), and I got really good results either playing games like GTA IV and V, plus Apex Legends, as well as rendering.
Oh yes, It had an I7-6700 I took it out to build a custom PC that’s on my channel too. My friend needed one and I sold it to him and I’ll build something new with the 5700G, I was thinking about the 8700G to make videos and build a tiny ITX with a case I bought a while ago and use the integrated graphics, then make videos and compare it to the RTX3050. The CPU is only a 65W TDP AND THE RTX3050 6GB LP uses a max of 70W TDP. 135Watts and a bit more usage from the MB, RAM, FANS AND Peripherals. It won’t exceed the 180W PSU TDP tbh.

@@rodcal3 Hi! Using a card that doesn’t put out huge performance numbers like a 3080, 4070 or more powerful, it’s ok to run on PCI GEN 3. Not a lot of performance is lost. Maybe a couple of FPS on certain games. RTX3050 LP 6GB uses 8 lanes out of the 16 on the pci slot. The bandwidth it puts out is not extreme, so running at 8x3 instead of 8x4 is totally fine. A little loss in performance. The RX6400 uses only 4 lanes out of the 16, so 4x3 is significantly less bandwidth than 4x4 or even 8x3. I like that little PC, it cane out a few years ago. Tbh, a mix of Medium and High with your PC AND THE RTX3050 is what you can set to run games like RDR2 and HORIZON Z D. At least I know you can enable Resizable Bar that should help a little but and also that processor is still very capable. If you go high on the settings, you won’t hit 60 FPS so easy, I know those are not E-sports games, but tbh, I feel like 60 FPS is the sweet spot for a lot of those games to feel smooth. I like Fortnite a lot (something I never thought of liking before) and I like using epic settings because I love great visuals, and the RTX 3050 barely hits 60 FPS like that. I think using PCIE gen 3 and being bottlenecked by the i6-6500 is the reason why it won’t hit 60 almost all the time, but maybe with a faster processor, Resizable Bar enabled and PCIE Gen 4 I can hit 60. RX6400 single slot LP uses gen 4x4 but going gen 3x4 it gets affected way more. Good luck with your build.
How would an HP Elitedesk 800 g2 SFF fair against the RTX 3050 LP? I think the HP Elitedesk 800 g2 SFF has the power supply of 200, 280, or 400. SO it seems like it could handle one, what do you think?
Yes, mine has 180w and is enough. But the i5-6500 will make it bottleneck because it’s not powerful enough to handle the cards performance. Look at my video playing fortnite in high settings, the processor is at 100% usage while the card is only using 60-80%.
@@emmanuelrodriguez1043 So for a g3 you could get a i7-7700K while a g2 can only get a i7-6700k? Would probably still be bottlenecked with the 6700k, especially with CPU-intensive tasks, but the 7700k would probably work for the 3050 right? You would probably need a better power supply though...
Only just now realized in the description of your Fortnite video, you say the 6700 or 7700 makes it way better lol. And both those CPUs use the same amount of watts as the i5-6500? So you wouldn't really need to replace the heatsink?
