Lonewolf902, have you ever been hunted by coyotes out there? I recently had a pack come up on our picnic and they were very bold.. I'm wondering how you might defend from attack if you're in a hammock.

True! There are simpler set ups to start, you really only need 4 things. A hammock, something to keep you dry, something to keep your top warm, something to keep your butt warm. The rest are perks.

I just bought all of these items (minus the top quilt)--have yet to use them--but they all come highly recommended all over the hammock community. I'm super excited to try them out. This has to be the MOST informative video on these specific items on RU-vid, hands down. I have been lurking, searching and viewing all of them I've come across prior to my purchases...and none have been as thorough as this. Thanks for the video, and Good job!

I have some of these items including the tarp. The rain fly is the bomb! I’ve been in snow and severe thunderstorms with heavy wind and rain. I would recommend using thin pvc pipe to use as spreaders for those mid tie down points.

I have now a lot of setups which I tried out. Still waiting though for my superior gear setup that I bought because of you and now I am broke :p But the one wind hammock I love it especially with the normal bottom entry bug net. Very sturdy and supreme and thought out and for such a great price point! Funny you mentioned now the bug net too now I viewed it further. It’s so easy system so easy to go in and out and no zippers. And you have more room than in any other hammock setup I tried out. And there were are few now I tried.

Over the past couple months, I've been getting hammock gear, I got a top quit and bottom quilt, wasn't really paying attention to brands, but, both ended up being OneWind, my hammock is some random company, I'm not a huge fan. Got a gear hammock, that turned out to be OneWind as well. Decided, since I've been accidentally buying OneWind stuff without intending to, and their products are all high quality and have feature other companies don't offer, I took a look at all their hammock products and gotd damn... Wish I would have just went straight One Wind for everything 😂😂 but I'll be buying the rest of their gear over the next few months now and keep the hammock I have now, for friends who go camping withe 😊😊

Underquilts are loose so as not to compress the insulation. If you place a pad there it will literally be dead weight. I have heard fo DD hammockers who use the underblanket and a trekking pad inside too, so if you want both then do that.

Here , Down South , I don't use an under quilt. Staying cool at night is the major problem. I use a self inflating full length mummy style air mattress. It's about 1/2 to 3/4 inflated so it conforms to my body and the hammock. Also a double bottom hammock is desired , the double bottom stops the mosquitos from biting threw it. This also protects the arms and any other body part touching the inside of the hammock. My choice ( lately ) is the Warbonnet Blackbird with the attached bug netting to the top of it. Over the last 60 or so years of hammock camping I have acquired a lot of hammocks both single and double bottom ones. Never had a bad one , some were just better. Hammocks are the best leave no trace camping items.

Dude, you did a great job. Question, i have a tent already. I don't mind hiking heavy. I see it as more of a workout. Would having an option to use a hammock system be real stupid or ok. I feel one has a choice to use a hammock if you find the right area and if no trees, you got a tent. Tent⛺ Is the mongar 2. My backpack is my old ilbe. (Side note, i ended up returning a mat because of your research). I am just starting again, so i look at extra weight as not being spoiled yet 🤣. I don't know what I don't know. The ignorance is bliss logic. Of course, ultimately the choice is mine, but i like other peoples point of view also. Thank you for your time, be blessed. ✌🏼🦁

It's a crazy idea imho. I'm going with a hybrid setup that i can use in any case or situation - hammock, tarp, sleeping pad, groundsheet and sleeping bag and a bivvy bag. Im going with he Solignac hammock, with intentions of eventually getting the draumr. If i can I'll always sleep on the hammock, but I'll have the bivvy just in case i want to stay in a certain spot, or there aren't any trees. A tarp is very very versatile too, so I'm able to make a tent with m DD XL, but even a normal tarp would do fine in a simple A-Frame config. I also have a cheap poncho tarp that i wouldn't mind using as a groundsheet. A whole hammock setup with underblanket will add a lot of bulk and weight. If you want a truly hybrid setup I suggest the haven tent. Not much room inside, but it'll do both jobs well.

There's also the crua hybrid tent, that isn't too bad honestly. But since you already have a tent and likely a sleeping pad, get the Solignac hammock, or any double layer one you find. Onewind is not bad but less comfortable than Solignac's.

Can you leave the bugnet on the hammock for takedown and putup? (meaning leave it on all the time and still use the hammock without problems?)

Yes you could but it would be a bit fidly to setup, easiest to just take it off each time

Love their 12ft hammock and rainfly/tarp, but I'm returning their underquilt. The claimed length of 83" is more like 75" which is really misleading and important to me as I am 6'3".

A couple of questions. Does one wind sell THIS as a entire package or is it all separate? How much did all of this cost you?

I want to buy a new under quilt and have seen the onewind under quilt on Amazon but they have several versions. Do you know what version this one is? I.e. temperature rating? I was looking at the dd under blanket which is rated to -5 but I like the idea of using the button snaps to create a cocoon

quick question my one wind underquilt came with cordage attached to the ends, but it also has a bag of the same setup with bungee cords, do you think i should keep it as is with the cordage? or swap out to the bungee cord????

I'm looking to get into hammock camping this year and I was wondering. For anyone that does hammock camping, what size style or brand hammock would you recommend for camping with a dog. My dog is a medium size dog and she's around 40-50 lbs.

Do you have any thoughts on the hammock zippered system vs the separate systems (sock, uq protector, bug net)?

Zippered system seems to always work best

Will this under quilt keep you warm in like 10°f in winter?
