I use Wooster Chinex brushes. I have been painting with Ben Moore Advance. After cleaning with soap and water, there was a film left on the brush. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer near by, squirted a couple of shots in the brush, cleaned it up like new.Ethyl alcohol.
Honestly I’m a Purdy man but these in my opinion aren’t any more expensive than what I’m accustomed to spending and I’m like you I take care of them so if I buy a 20 dollar brush i get every penny out of it. I’m going to pick up some of these, love that it’s an American company and not that far from me!
You can use either brush for either task, maybe if your painting condos and in one color all day with one brush you might use the chinex or you just may prefer the stiffness of one over the other. Do a little experimenting you may be surprised!
I've been in the painting business since 1985 and the old guy I worked for use to preach the Importance of brush cleaning daily. I still clean my brush 1 to 2 times a day, it's a good habit. I've used Purdy brushes for many years but last couple years the quality has declined might try these brushes. Thanks Chris keep up the good work
Chris, I make employees come to work with their own brushes. No one takes care of his brush like the owner himself. And when you get the guy who doesn’t take care of his brand new brush himself, you know he’s not a painter. His first day is his last day.
Always bought my own brushes, they used to supply my brushes (good quality too) but I did a lot of side work and I wasn’t about to use my company brushes even though they wouldn’t have minded … anyway I kept them all clean, that goes to the type of person you hire, I bet if you gave your people brushes they’d take pretty good care of because I have a feeling you hired pros !
Hi Chris! Well explained video! The gooseneck paint brush as many professional painters and DIY comments are that a soft filament is necessary for delicate surfaces. The gooseneck paint brush now is a Stiff filaments as per your and I recommendations. We painters and DIY need different types of filaments for different type of surfaces and paints. Ex: Extra soft , Soft, Med/soft /med/ stiff and Stiff etc. Their are several different blends to mention. Then the types and quality of filaments/bristles. Polyester/nylon/Orel/tynex/chinex etc. Won’t talk about that just yet! Cheers always 😊🤟The gooseneck guy!
got a 3 inch purdy xl elite had it 3 years used nearly everyday on interiors thats a blend of chinex/polyester still in perfect shape worn a bit but makes it even better.
No pun intended lol my Beavertail (orange random from home Depot) is the same but only 2 years old😅 I used to use Purdy but all the latex paints I work with dont do those brushes justice. Purdy's semi oval flat sash though? Stays in the bag 🤣 be safe out here and get that money
I wonder if the runoff from cleaning brushes is actually worse for the environment than manufacturing one and sending it to a landfill. I have no idea, just a thought. I clean my brushes when I can. Even with lacquer, oil, and alcohol based finishes.
3 in. Trylon Flat Beaver Tail... Not undercutting your channel I love your suggestions but for those that I can't afford Purdy Wooster & Richard? In my experience the beaver is legit. Hold more paint yet cleans easily and that orange man...can't miss it or diss it
Also, a good budget brush is the Ace brand. They lay out paint decently, and if you accidentally let it dry out, or use it with oil based and don't feel like cleaning it, it's not the end of the world.
Clean brushes and rollers at the end of every day. Slop sink in my garage. I have to I use quality brushes and rollers. And when I work with oil base usually using an ox hair from Corona which cost over $ 30 per brush.
I’ve tried dozens of brushes and love the wooster gold edge,it’s a stiff version of the Wooster silver tip.I’ve tried the premier brush and it’s very good but I prefer the gold edge.I buy them by the box my brush lasts about five days and then I toss it.
I know one thing , every time I get a new case of brushes I think to myself Why didn't I replace them sooner. Nothing better than cutting in with a brand new brush . Wooster 2.5" angled sash lindbeck for me. Case of 6 costs around $70. Once the new brushes come in the old brushes get orange tape around the handle to signify they are now exterior brushes or dusters .
Watching your channel made me start my own business, I just got a 10.5k grant to spend on all the tools I want and need. 10 grand should be a great start?
Weird question, but how to you deal with pain in your hand with holding a paint brush or roller for hours. I am redoing my home and have used a roller and brush and my hand is so sore. Never thought it would be a liability but ouch. Is that something painters have to deal with?
I painted a side of a building (vinal siding) I noticed it said on the paint can (Not for vinyl siding) after the fact. How can this be corrected? Can I use the proper paint and just paint over it ?
Bet it will power wash off. If not you just proved good adhesion for repaint. Vinyl is terrible product environmentally and health if family. Change to wood or cement.
I bought these brushes and I really do not like them. I contacted customer support and let’s just say they were less than helpful. So…. I am kind of unsatisfied overall.
i prefer wooster silver tip brushes same ct poly $6.00 t0 $7.50 on amazon. there are better brushes on the market but they cost twice as much. if you have employees that dont take care of their brushes why would you pay for more expensive brushes.
