There is nothing better than spending time with your son doing something that makes you both happy!!! I didn’t even know I had a son until he was 15.. missed out so much… so for Dads out there Spend quality time with your son while you can! Don’t put off time with your son (daughter) for tomorrow! Tomorrow isn’t promised!
BTW the new one I got DID come with the nice all metal shocks. Fluid a little in the thin side tho. And has 100k diff fluid already in center diff. With grease in front and rear like the new ones you got. I think they are watching your videos. A huge TY to you and Max👍
I just got the 2995 for my kids on Amazon sale for $90. Love that I know how to upgrade it later on thanks to your videos. Hoping it's a good first car for my kids and that they won't need to get another car, just upgrade it as time goes on.
Awesome!! My opinion is it’s the best first car, since it controls real nice it’s great to learn on them can upgrade it. Durable with parts availability!
i think we all went through a shogoo / hot glue everything phase lol funny how when we finally find the right place for things life becomes much better.
Haha! What’s funny is that wasn’t even on purpose I was just looking for a pause to fill a quiet space in the video with “woman laughing” and I was like, yup that’s staying in there! 🤣🤣
Love your videos. Right up my ally. And budget👊😎 I think your edgeing out Tomley as my favorite go to for inexpensive basher reveiews. Love your channel. Keep up the good work.
Not me realizing that you have to unscrew the 2995 center diff to add fluid to INTO it after a year of having the thing! 😅😅😅😅 This was an awesome video!! I love how you talk about the budget-friendly RCs and how to beef them up! I deff use this channel for many of my RC needs.
Ha ha, what a mishmash of information, usual Derby style video, I love it! I haven't started on my Flyhal yet, except for changing the shocks, but your video makes me want to start wrenching, ha ha! Argh, why the hell can't I order that Dumbo transmitter, I tried 7 times, I think I need to talk to old Bang Goode, see if I can talk some sense into them, ha ha!
Love the video. I bought a set of the same tire's for my rival mt10. I feel like it gave it better air control. Backflips like a champ now. Definitely another monumentally epic video.
Haha! The ESC was barely warm when that happened. It just gave right up. I even gave it a good 1/2 hr to cool and then tried a 2s again with the same result!
Thought about putting the upgraded 2995 against something of the same value in its stock form? Would be great to see an upgraded budget rc pitched against one of the higher end versions.
@@DerbyCityRC thank you for the info. i can by your video at random and loved all the details and info you give also the fact you add almost EVERYTHING (links) helps so much.
I would love to see you take that Beast max from Temu. And turn it into something. That can really perform like a more expensive truck.... I would like to see you get 50mph out of it....
11:32 Laughed so dang hard! Love these RC's myself, have a 2995 that is very similar to your build 4000KV Hobbywing and 60A Rocket ESC. Recently got a Bezgar 1/12 that seems to be a rebranded HBX?? Keep up the great work my man your editing has become really awesome since I have subscribed, was never bad just really good now!
Haha don’t mess with Max! Yes these are unbeatable cars for the money. Yes bezgar just rebrands, changes the body, and usually that’s it lol. Sometimes new electronics and sometimes not. Thanks for the compliments on the editing. Always trying to get better! New camera being thrown into the mix soon and hopefully new editing software. Thanks man!!!
@@DerbyCityRC Thanks for the info on Bezgar, was hoping HBX upgrades would work. I got a RC channel that I am not very active on but some similar content to yours. Nowhere near as good as yours though.
Fathers day has been the greatest this year, thanks to your videos and all the links to parts. I love my HBX2995 and now i have all the upgrades to install. Reciever, transmitter, ESC, brushless 3650, FPV Camera, and wheel spacers wheels & tires. I have a big build ahead of me. First time building a RC. Wish me luck.
@@DerbyCityRC the link for the wheels are not working, i guess thats not good for you and for us viewers my friend. Awesome videos, keep em coming. Thanks
Awesome video. I ended up upgrading my HBX 2995 with a brushless motor, ESC, bigger tires all thanks to your upgrade video. It's my first major upgrade and I have to say, the things just bashes man. Thanks for sharing your upgrade video and items you used. Looking forward to more upgrade videos in the future. Keep bashing!
Great video! Just got my 2996a (fathers day) and absolutely love it!!! One reason I chose the 2996a is shorter and wider wheel base (better for flips and stunts) vs the longer/narrower wheel base of the 2995 (better for speed runs). Did you notice any effect of the different wheel base on each?
That’s interesting. They should have the exact same wheelbase, as I t is the exact same platform. Are they listed differently? It’s definitely a bit wider because it has wider and bigger wheels than the 2995 though. Either way, both amazing trucks!!
@@DerbyCityRC I don’t have both to measure, but based on measurements on product listings there is a slight difference. Could just be tires! I wonder if the chassis part number is different between the two…
@aronjurmu6951 it could also be a misprint. Wheel size wouldn’t change the wheel base measurement but they could just be measuring by hand and just getting human error/deviation. However it’s always possible they changed something but I don’t think so as they’re identical looking (except they split the spur gear cover so it is now easier to access the motor pinion).
Did you say you put 30,000 wt diff fluid in your shocks ??? And 10,000 wt in the other??? I run 100 wt shock oil on my bashers and pretty much keeps them planted …
Three main reasons really. First, landing in grass is less satisfying to me, I’d really prefer just dirt lol, plus with the lighter weight cars, the grass makes landing smoothly much harder. Second I don’t really have a good runway that leads to grass. A $20,000 driveway in my backyard might be in the future but certainly not this year. And the only place where that’s really possible currently with a concrete runway would be to land in my front yard which is tiny lol.
thx for the vid, I'm flying my flyhal fc610 on 3s and it's cool. I ordered brushless motor, but it is surpass hobby f540, 3300kv. I hope it's okay 😁 cheers!
Great videos! You got me into rc cars again after many years! Recently upgraded my 2995. I was having some issues and was wondering if you could give me advice. I have the correct pinion gear on it. But, when I set it on the ground the wheels just spin. Fwd and bk. Can’t get it to even move slow. wheels just spin. I’ve taken it apart several times over and can’t get it to work properly. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!
I’ll try to help but not sure i understand. The wheels just spin out of control and won’t slow down? When do they start spinning? When the remote is turned on?
@@DerbyCityRC thank you so much for your response! No, I binded the transmitter and receiver correctly. When I have it in the air and when I give it throttle it works correctly forward and backwards. Steering works correctly as well. It’s when I put it on the ground the wheels just spin. Won’t go forward or reverse. It just spins in circles. Idk if I messed something up prior when I had the wrong pinion gear on. But, it did the same thing. Changed out the pinion gear to the correct size yesterday and it’s still doing the same thing. When I get home I’ll post a short video showing what it’s doing. Thank you again!!!!! Been messing with this thing since Xmas lol.
I think I may have found out what’s happening. When I put in on the ground the front wheels move forward and the back wheels go in reverse. That’s why it’s just spinning out front is working against the back. I may have flipped a differential? Maybe?
Thanks for another great video! I think I’m sold on upgrading my 2995! The Hobbywing motor/esc for your original 2995 upgrade video isn’t in stock anymore. Do you have another one you would recommend?
Thanks!! I know I hate that that kit is out of stock. This one here is similar, but the esc is bigger and I don’t believe will mount in the cavity of the original. amzn.to/3NMUdNB
For the size and weight of this truck, it’s a good weight to get a balance of center diff action and still have good throttle response. I have 500k in my 6s Kraton which is much heavier. 500 would still probably work pretty well though.
Well the hyper go doesn’t have a center differential. If you’re going front and rear, I’d say maybe even 50k or less (if they even hood fluid). Going to thick in front or rear will affect cornering and steering.
I did the 2995 upgrade ,and followed the vids. And created a BEAST, wheelies all day with speed, and able to take a beating ,parts are cheap and easy to get. Thanks for the How to vids for the conversion to 3s. Ty Evan and crew.
Hey guys, I always enjoy watching you and your boys having fun with your cars. Can you tell me how you made the ramps and the size wood you used? Or, where did you buy them if you didn't make yourself, please? Thanks!
Awesome, glad you enjoy! Here’s my tutorial on the ramp building. Don’t judge too much, it’s an old video 🤣 : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SnyqYnSc84o.html
How your batteries last? I see you don't handle them with that much care :D. I'm no battery expert but as far as i know they don't really like to be sqeezed. Also these are pretty small capacity ones pushed really hard. I'm really curious what is the longevity of these in these tough conditions.
Good question! I definitely try to be careful with them, but I needed to do this 3s test and just made it happen. Actually my batteries do pretty well. I’ve got some similar to these that are about a year and a half old and still going.
I'm really glad I found your stuff. Fun and learning a lot. Thanks. Kid having a blast is a bonus. Looking at these or Hyper Go type rc to start with. Thoughts? Anybody? Not sure how committed I (and child) am to the hobby, so I don't want to spend the $400+ just to try to sell it in a month or whatever. Thanks. Keep it up. P.s. you did use shoe goo....I watched that one earlier today.
Glad you like the channel! I would honestly choose this one over the hyper go. Better durability and handling, plus bigger. If HyperGo decides to make a car with this chassis..MAN!! Thanks I rewatched that old video too and saw lol. The shoe goo worked great! Lol
@badtolz2122 well the 2995 with upgrades for sure, just costs a bit more. The 2996a with the tires and diff fluid is a great option though!! Which do you think you like more?
@DerbyCityRC undecided. Sorry for the ramble here.... The 2995 looks better IMO but seems slower and less capable out of the box. The 2996a isn't 3s which is a bit of a strike and currently costs $70 more or so to begin with. That "extra" 70 gets the 2995 several steps closer to being a better car already. I was looking at stuff in this range... mjx 16208-10 line, wltoys 144010, Rlaarlo 14005, Aarma Granite voltage 2wd brushed, several Hyoer Go models H16...,HBX 16890A, Crowell brushless buggy not sure model (about $170).... My only guage is videos like yours. I'm having a rough time narrowing it down to like 2. That would be a huge help. Upgradability, parts, durability, etc. I think we're looking for basher type but not insane stuff. "Responsible bashing"? Thanks again for your replies. Above and beyond, really. I am looking for 2 cars. One for 8yr old and one for myself... I'm 45. Can't break the bank in either car. 150ish tops maybe. Just looking to have fun and not go pro or anything like that.
Ya I hear ya! Have you seen my video of the best cars under $150? It’s here if not: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LnMqcFo1_0s.html Also, I would add this to that same list: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7OZtToYU_yI.html But yes the 2995 with upgrades is definitely my favorite, but yes much slower out of the box.
Fence posts are such a-holes!! Great video, love the pricing breakdown. Big fan of my 2995 and this will only help with parts availability and pricing!
Ya they just dropped it without a warning as far as I could tell lol a little hint like a year ago and then boom! Yup just can’t beat that Hobbywing but that motor they put in the 2996a seems pretty solid! Gonna put a better esc in there and I bet that wakes it up a bit too!
You do a really good job describing and showing there ability last year i evan went and bought one of the cars you showed but you never talk about how it takes FOR EVER to get parts and for that i just went and bought a arrma senton and with the parts ability from jennys tc and hobby town ive now bought 2 sentons a granit and a typhoon and so much happyer
Thanks. Ya definitely one of the drawbacks is shipping time(usually about 2 weeks), but I’ve had Arrma parts on backorder before which can take even longer. To me that’s just part of the deal. It does definitely suck if your only car or two are down and could be a reason to consider spending more on a more local RC for sure. Luckily Amazon is starting to carry more and more parts for a lot of the Banggood cars.
Great content! I like your style for the vids, very fun. Keep it up! I need to get these trucks for the kids, durable and fun and good price point. thanks!
Awesome! Been waiting for this video! Kinda disappointing that the 2996a can't handle 3S though. I wonder if we'll ever get metal upgrades for these chassis? Seems like all the WLToys RCs get them. Even the Hyper Go got them.
I find hobby park as far as cheap motors and ESCs are very very close to hobbywing the cards even work and iv not had issues with them alot other cheaper stuff fails fast. Also Jenny's rc has all kinds of parts for most name brands and the motors and ESCs are half what they sell for in stores great videos
Aw that’s no fun! Max’s brother threw a stick at him on accident so that’s how his happened. They were both at fault as one threw it and one walked into the line of fire knowing his brother had a stick in hand. lol
Hey I finally did the conversion on my 2995 with the brushless motor and bigger tires and it was a blast.. for 1 bash. The center drive shaft stripped inside the front and rear pinions and now I can’t seem to find a replacement. If you know where I can find it I’d appreciate it! Great video man!
Hey man! Wow I’m surprised! Not a single drive train issue with any of these yet except the axle pin. Glad you like the car and videos though! Here it is. Comes with the center diff. Are the pinions ok where the shaft goes into them? haiboxing-hobby.com/products/haiboxing-1-12th-scale-rc-car-spare-parts-spur-gearmetal-with-center-drive-shaft-and-center-diff-metal-assembled-apply-to-2995-t2302
@@DerbyCityRC they seem ok but I don’t know if they stripped a little. The teeth seem fine though. I first tried it with the stock 550 motor and maybe it had a little too much torque. You happen to know how fast they deliver from haiboxing web page?
Gotcha. Well the pinions were on the same website if you think you need them. May be a good idea. It comes from China, so to Kentucky, it took close to 2 weeks for sure. It’s also been a while since I’ve needed to order from them. That’s the one down side to Chinese RCs is waiting for parts lol
Hi. Do you have a link for the defferential fluid. Is it correct this car has 3 differentials? Do you need to grease all 3 diffs? Greetings from germany.😊
Hi. Which fluid are in the shocks of the hbx 2996a? Can you please help? Why do you change the shocks? unfortunately these shock absorbers are not available in germany. there are probably many alternatives. but I don't know. Unfortunately, all the parts in your links are not available here. why not fill the original shock absorbers with another oil? Best regards!
Actually no. My 2995 came with a different one, which looks like the same one as the picture in the listing for the Flyhal, so you would need this guy unfortunately: amzn.to/3CFsojy
I’ll see if I can find those numbers for you shortly. Manual not in front of me at the moment. I do feel like it’s a good system, though a slightly better esc wouldn’t hurt in case you ever want to run 3s.
Thanks! I have actually. They were good, but not as good as the ones in this video. Here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mR1UHzx-lJQ.html
Thanks! Your videos have given me a couple ideas to try on my fc610. I've already done a brushless conversion, 3650 3900kv motor with a cheap 120a esc and Dumbo radio. I want to try heavier oil in the center diff and eventually try the oil shocks you have. I've replaced the stock oil shocks with the hbx metal oil shocks already. The next thing is figuring out a ramp that I can put in the trunk of my car.
I put on my Holyton 9205E the originals HBX 903A suspensions bought on AMZ and works perfec(i've 120A ESC and 5900Kw motor on 3s😁 on it)t! try it! Another thing: I've 40Wt on my 1/16 HBX and on my Holyton 1/12 scale. What WT do yo recomend on it's? Thanks👍
Wait! You mean the 903a control arms fit on the Holyton? All 4? So the axles swap too?? That’s amazing! I actually have found I like 80-100wt in my 1/16 shocks. Probably would work well in the stock 1/12 shocks too but I haven’t tried it.
Bought those same big tires for $12 instead of the $35 amazon ones🤑 i bought them before i saw this but now that i know you like and recommend them feel way better about my purchase👍
@@DerbyCityRC aliexpress they’re usually $12 and change +tax i got them on sale ended up paying $10.74 total😎 great videos by the way nice vibe great info very educational. I learned about diffs maintenance on this one👍
I picked up the 2995 and some bigger wheels. I plan on chasing my dog with it😆I'm looking at a 5900kv brushless with esc for later on. Love the videos!!
@@DerbyCityRC this thing is so much fun!!!! I got 5 inch tires and it wants to do wheelies, just not enough juice to keep it going😆 what do you mean cogging? Ok i just looked it up. Would i have to change gearing? Or battery size?i was looking at a 3s/4s battery, or would that not help?
Changing the gearing would help, but you would have to make your own adjustable motor mount. Smaller wheels would help to but that takes away the fun! Other than that I don’t know cuz I haven’t ran one with that high of kv rating lol
You mean subtitles I put in that the kids sometimes say, or for language translation? If it’s language, it may just be that YT hasn’t added them yet as those are automatically put in.
Just the video I wanted to see! Almost regret that I didnt go for the 2996, cheaper (stock) and more stabile compared to the upgraded flyhall. It would be cool to se a clip with thicker fluid in the flyhall diff to se if it helps. Very nice video and channel!
Awesome! Ya I wanted this video to kind of compare with and without fluid. I’ll probably make a short showing the difference with and without the fluid in the Flyhal!
