I spend a lot of time riding my ATV alone in the woods, that being said I needed a way to get out of a hole by myself. Thankfully my friends over at Rocky Mountain ATV have the perfect solution for those of you out there that want a high performing winch without the high price tag..
So in today's video I walk you through the install of the TUSK 2500lb winch on my Honda Rubicon and show the steps needed for a proper install. I opted for the KFI mounting plate and it was definitely a tight fit but with some patience it can be done. The solenoid location is personal preference but I am extremely happy with the way my setup turned out.
In the end of the video we give the winch a good test and overall I was blown away with the how it performed. You can't find a better setup for the price and the TUSK line has always impressed.

Have not watched the vid yet as today is a busy day. The best thing to remember with a winch is that it is a tool, and should be cared for as such. Read the users manual. It is a winch not a tow strap. Want a winch to last? Buy the right gear and always have it on the quad. Two tree straps, a few small shackles, a snatch block, and a tow strap. Nice winch kits can be had online for under $70. Take care of your winch and it will always take care of you. If your winch has a cable a good pair of gloves will save your hands in the long run when using it.

Get a strap to go around the trees, much better fro the tree and your cable. Also grab a snatch block and that 2500 pounds becomes 5000.

I sprayed every exposed contact with battery terminal corrosion spray. It’s the red spray and it does work. Absolutely no corrosion a year and a half later.

My Rancher came stock with a 1,700 lb winch. Now have a 2,500lb and works really well. Gonna say it again though, wrap that hook around the top of the rack so you can find it when buried.

U definitely need some bigger tires maybe 30 Inch criptids or if u want something less aggressive like a Zilla. If u want to go full mud mode u could get a 2 inch highlighter kit.

Everyone with a quad is doing the same footage. You need to hook up some James Bond shit....Smoke Screen, NOS, Ejection Seat.....You know, something to break up the monotony :)
