Very well done. I am actually in the market for 2 new helmets, one for my wife and myself. We both currently run x-fourteen’s, but we both have sizes too large and need to go down to be safe. I was going to stay with Shoei, but I have been eyeing this Shark for myself and was happy to see a review that compared the 2. For my wife, we are going Arai Corsa X, maybe you can grab one and add onto the review to compare the Arai as well? Good stuff, love your videos, especially the RC-8C.
Thanks so much Ryan! I found that the helmet fit is similar between the Shoei and Shark so it was an easy transition. I really like the Shark; you can always go with the Shark Race-R Pro and not the GP if you don’t want the giant spoiler/wing. The Arai has a different shape and I wasn’t able to find the right fit for myself, but I hope it works well for your wife! Thanks again for the comments, really appreciate it. Hoping the RC arrives soon then I’ll be able to share more of the bike with everyone :)
Thanks so much! It’s now my go-to helmet. I had to order it through Chromeburner.com, a few of my track buddies used them in the past so I went with their experience. No issues on my end.
@@vtranmoto I was gonna ask the same thing because of the price you mentioned. Most places it's running around $1k. I just ordered the all black with white lettering from Revzilla for $999. I got my other Shark from Chromeburner [NL].
Such a great helmet. It must be really bright where you ride! Funny enough I just ordered a custom Arai, should be here in a week or two. Will compare with the Shark as well!
Hello and thank you for the informative and honest review. I have 1 question. --Does the rear spoiler appear to be removable via the 2 bracket/screws? Or is it 3m attached? -thanks again ✌
@@floyd4826 I can’t say if that’ll work, it might also frustrate you if you see a little hole where a bracket and screw should be. I think you could also consider the Shark Race-R Pro: us.shark-helmets.com/products/race-r-pro-carbon-skin-helmet. Just get the Non GP version as the helmets are extremely similar just without the giant spoiler. Additionally the Non GP version comes in a lot more variety of colors and styles.
@@vtranmoto thanks. I have the Race-r Pro Carbon Skin now, and I love it . Will be buying the Race-R Pro GP Redding Test version soon. I love the graphics which aren't available in the the non-GP version. ✌
Hi Mazen, I ordered it from ChromeBurner and paid $788 shipped, prices seem to vary now based on color/design, but I still highly recommend the Shark. It has ECE rating which is the European equivalent (and has higher standards than DOT). It’s used at the highest levels of racing so I have no concerns from a safety perspective compared to any other big brand (Shoei/AGV/Arai).
Hi mate, very nice content. I actually have a pista gp r in size ML wich fit perfectly and wanted to know wich size u are recommending to get in this helmet since u also own a pista. I can't decide between M or L. Thx
Hey Viet! Hope you're fine, I wanted to ask you that I am going to start racing and I want a helmet and I am confused in HJC Rpha 1 Austin gp and Shark race r pro gp which one I should buy?
In my experience the way to go is the Shark, they are just a little nicer fit and finish compared to my friend's HJC. Very important though is to make sure that the helmet shape fits you comfortably. The Shark fits similar to a Shoei or AGV so if you are comfortable with those shapes you will like the Shark. Thank you!
My X-14 is a M, MS on AGV Pista. I feel that the Shoei and Shark fit very similarly; the ML is a bit loose for for AGV. Of the 3 helmets, I prefer the Shark now and grab it most frequently. :) I think you will be very pleased with the Lorenzo replica; looks *sharp*.
@@VictorRodriguez-gg6pb I ordered a 30% tinted visor from Chromeburner which works wonderfully. Make sure you get the visor for the Pro GP (says it in the name).
Hi Viet, love your content. After your review, I gotta have the shark helmet. I have tinnitus so I need the quietest helmet for the track. Regarding sizing, i know you said the shark fits similar to the x14, but a vendor suggested I buy a size larger since it’s an aggressively tight fit. Is the shark much much tighter? I have a Shoei X14 in size L and he suggested XL.
thanks Steve! appreciate your watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I have a M Shoei X14 and went with a M Shark and its worked out really well for me, but the Shark definitely fits *snug* at first - but I don't find it uncomfortable. The first time putting it on I was surprised at how snug around the cheeks it was, but after just a few minutes I did not mind at all. Is this vendor able to order both sizes and let you keep the one that you prefer? I don't want to give you bad advice, so just sharing my own experience.
Thanks for the reply! The vendor is from Taiwan since their helmets come with a DOT sticker, so I would need to choose the correct size. Unfortunately my local cycle gear doesn’t stock Shark helmet in their store. I feel like I wouldn’t have an issue with the crown area, but the check and chin is what worries me. I’m afraid if I get an XL, it will fit loose so it won’t seal as well to prevent noise. Would you say the fit is slightly more snug than the X14 or very noticeable?
@@PhysiqueSteve hi Steve! just took out the X14 and Shark to wear back to back and the Shark is noticeably snugger; the crown area fills little bit more "filled out" on the Shark as well. Man you're in a tricky spot with an out-of-country vendor. Is there any motorcycle dealer in your area that might carry Shark? It would be worth it to see if you can try one out in person before buying without trying.
@@vtranmoto here in the Midwest there is more and more Vircos riders. Still a lot less than other companies, however, the few are extremely happy just as I am with the product.
@@vtranmoto we have a distributor/representative near by. He took the all the measurements and he was the contact person between Vircos and I. Btw, I have the Dainese Mugello R in black just like yours too (hilarious).
Very nice review, just curious about your head diameter, is it 57cm? Coz i am 57 suppose to get m size but at the end i took L with 40mm cheekpad instead of 35mm equipped. And after few run, i just feel that my helmet looks “big” LoL
Thanks! :) I haven't done that measurement but I went with a M as I was most familiar with Shoei/AGV sizing and the Shark fits very similarly to the Shoei. Don't worry about the "big" head hahaha, as long as it's comfortable and protects you well! :D
The Shark comes with 2 shell sizes so when you go with the L you’re on the bigger shell size the M size just uses the thinnest cheek pads in the smaller shell size. Doesn’t really make a difference as long as it’s nice and tight👍🏻
right now, the Shark is my favorite helmet. I got a chance to see the new Alpinestars Supertech R10 that is being tested in MotoGP right now, so I am *very* excited to pick that one up and compare! But it won't likely be available until end of 2023.
Hi there, yes it does, there is a cutout for speakers, then there is a liner layer that goes above it. I imagine if you want the speakers to be un-interfered you can remove the liner, though in my past experience, the speakers are pretty rough so the liner is a nice touch for comfort. Though I cannot say if it blocks out too much of the speaker volume. Also something to note is that this is by far the quietest race helmet I've ever used. Thanks for watching!
I don’t have a measurement off top of my head (haha), but I’m a Medium in Shoei and it’s very comparable with the Shark, except the Shark is more snug on your cheeks.
@@vtranmoto That’s my problem. I got a Shoei Nxr and it’s Size L. It fits tight and perfect I would say. But I was able to try on the Shark also in Size L and it felt really loose. Unfortunately there is no dealership near with this helmet in size M… :( that’s why I asked about your head size
I ordered mine from Chromeburner and my second one from FC-Moto.de (I have two of them now); those sites usually give you the best prices and ship quickly for US customers. I do recommend getting the lighter tint windshield, it comes with a clear and dark one - but the dark is *super* dark. Thanks for watching!
AGV are great helmets but Pista is way too much $$$.....have K6, RPHA11, SUOMY Going to get a Shark but have to give a plug for SUOMY....very good aerodynamics and price is reasonable....though may nit be quietist And they are super light...Suomy surprised me a bit Europe has best deals on helmets for sure
I need to make a video about it, but the short of it is that it did extremely well. I hit my head on impact and remember how much the head strike didn’t hurt…I’ll post a photo of the helmet. It’s done for but it did it’s job.
The Shark fits more snug, especially the first time you wear it. But if you fit a Shoei, your headshape should also be compatible with a Shark. I actually just bought another Shark Race-R Pro GP - it has been my go-to helmet and I choose it every time over the X14, which is now basically my minibike helmet.
@@vtranmoto im 5,4 and my head is really small, so basically I don’t want a helmet that looks too big over my body size. So I guess I will choose the shark helmet and the website you recommended here which was chromeburner, great channel btw and thanks for replying! Definitely worth the sub!!
@@papichonight1787 thanks so much! My Instagram is @vtranmoto but tbh I haven’t posted much! Will try to do more there! The Shark helmet just has been a really good helmet, especially when you consider it’s entirely carbon, ultra light, and it’s half the price of the AGV Pista GP RR that I also have. The fin is big on the Pro GP, but it’s what gives it the super pro racer look. 😎
That’s a Kendon trailer my buddy uses with his Lexus RX. You can get Kendons in various sizes to accommodate for 1-3 bikes. Super high quality trailer!
It’s most similar to Shoei’s fit; I’m a Medium in both. The Shark does have a much more snug fit around your cheeks, so keep that in mind. It isn’t uncomfortable but just more snug. Around the skull, it fits similarly and is comfortable for me coming from a Shoei.
