Good morning Chris!!😀😀 The best gloves for handling firewood are calluses. Back when I did firewood and cut with a saw full time unless it was cold weather I always worked bear handed and half gloves most of the winter. Take care my friend!!😀💚 Logger Al

Al I was the same way. I hated cutting and handling firewood with gloves. Now that I am older my skin is like tissue paper and a small bump on my hand will now bleed. It’s crazy how our bodies change

Chris...Great content! Even worse than firewood is asphalt shingle removal and re-roofing. I go through a pair of Thomasville leather palm and finger gloves on a single roof job. When my fingertips wear out I cut patches of Carhartt dungaree material, rough up the leather on the finger tips with my Dremel wire wheel, and epoxy the patch in place. I can get 3-4 roofs out of a pair using this fix! My big problem is most glove manufacturers don't make gloves that fit my hands...2-3XL. I got a pair of the Kinco insulated gloves at your suggestion several years ago. They not only insulate against cold but are the best anti-vibration gloves I've ever worn and wear like iron. The Forester brand of anti-vibe gloves aren't too bad for holding up but their 2XL gloves are for Chinese men 2XL hands. I really need a 3XL which they don't make.

Yes! I never thought of roofing but that makes sense...it is basically #1 grit sand paper!!!

Good day all. Regarding gloves, I prefer the light mechanic type gloves, however I do still use leather gloves as well. All of my leather gloves get the same treatment to prolong their longevity and that is done by simply oiling them with any oil including bar oil to used motor oil. The oiled gloves not only last so much longer but are also more supple. The drawbacks are oily hands if you go overboard with the oil treatment and it also takes away from the leather's insulating properties , a definate negative in cold climates. Thanks for the many videos Chris.

I've used the same style of gloves you have. Kincos heavy duty ones in the winter time. Full leather ones and the mechanic style gloves. I agree with the cuff style to keep out the chips.

I am not one to wear gloves but I have my reasons. But with that said there are times I have no choice like when there is about 3 feet of snow and 20 below zero. Like most products everything is great till it no longer does what it should be doing. Truth is Chris you are right they always wear out at the finger tips and they never do anything to fix that problem. There is a reason for that. The sooner they wear out the sooner you must buy a new pair of gloves. The best pair of gloves I ever owned was a pair I bought from L.L Beans store in Maine.

I bought some Uline super gripton gloves a couple months ago. Real tough coating on them. They might be a little warm in the summertime, but for $11 a pair its quality merch. It's a good pair for splitting wood as well.

I really like a leather glove the best. They never last very long. I started wearing some gloves with rubber palm. They last about like the leathers but at 14 bucks for 12 pair so lot cheaper. In winter I almost need mittens on. So if can that what I wear. Keep up the good work.

I have found that I try to get the most use for the money. I seem to go to the Hardy gloves from Harbor Freight because of the cost of the cost for the leather cloves. I do find that the cheaper nylon with the coated palms and fingers from the box stores are as good to me as any. I've tried about all gloves and will get any that are available when I need a pair.

Iv been wanting to try the super cheap cotton gloves that are really popular with west coast timber fallers. I’m still using worn out atlas gloves I saved from the mill from 2-4 years ago lol I used to wear white ox gloves which are awesome but wear out fast and then I’d just Flip the left or throw an atlas glove under it, the generic white ox seem to last longer

Nice overview of gloves for firewood. What works best for me are the Wells Lamont leather work gloves from costco. The finger tips will eventually wear out though. When the finger tips wear through, I wrap them in duct tape. That gives me about 2 to 3 times the life out of them.

Hi Chris: For handling firewood, I found the Showa Atlas latex palm gloves hold up the best. For cutting I found Ironclad impact gloves are inexpensive and hold up well. I have a pair of Husqvarna Technical gloves that I’m getting ready to try. I definitely like the Velcro closures on my saw gloves to keep saw dust out. For winter- you can’t beat the Kinco’s. Last year, I waxed the Kinco’s gloves with beeswax and then used a heat gun to melt to let the wax soak in. I found they were more waterproof and they held up to wear much better- almost like a tin cloth glove.
