$300 for a 12 footer with 15 horse Johnson, oars, anchor, seats, trailer, fold-down wheels to roll the boat. The engine needs a water pump, ordered one and it's here now, paid $45 or so. Needs some TLC but mostly labor, paint for seats, screws, etc. Old boat, riveted, likely from the 50s or so, Klamath brand. Wheels on the trailer don't have lug nuts, have to take the whole thing off the axel to change; I'd like to change that over if it's possible.

That's a decent package for $400. I just picked up a 1968 Apache 10ft flat bottom for $100...found it in the county classifieds. The gentleman had it hanging in his barn since 1999. It was covered in bird droppings, but it power washed real nice. My father in law gave my son an older Minn Kota (not sure if it works yet) and a co-worker gave me an old Garmin Echo fish finder. I can't wait to see if it all works out. That squeal of excitement ya'll heard yesterday was my son when he saw me pull in the drive with the boat in the truck. He had no idea I went to get it. Should be a nice project for us to work on.

I got the same deal, except the one i got was 6 months old used to get from shore to his larger boat. $ 400.00, new battery, new trolling motor , 2 seats, and LED spot lights in the box. I could not believe it.

Picked up a 14' aluminum sears rowboat for under 400 and just had a paddle and plug. Added trolling motor and lights, good to go. And just recently picked up a trailer for it for $300 that came with a pretty run through 14' deep v aluminum boat that had a failed bass boat deck in it, but nice seats and lights, ripped out all the decking and I may or may not clear off all the hack seal jobs and do it right

Got a 12 foot john with an old trolling motor for $50 at a yard sale! Some fiberglass and flex seal later and I'm almost good to go. Ill be on the water with only $300-400 invested when its all said and done. I can't wait for fishing season next spring!

I haven't been to Texas Parks and wildlife yet but I'll go get a salvage title for a boat I bought at a scrap yard nice 13.6 v Hull $75 and bought a trailer for $75 and have a brand new 20 horse Suzuki coming in the mail going to be a nice little rig cut down a free canopy today took 19 in out of it it's going on my fishing boat

LIL KLEEENEX the sundolphin jon is good for stability, if the max amount of people you are taking is 2 ppl than the sundolphin is great you can also add decks and stuff

AnimeNfish Check your states laws as it is different state to state. Some states 12ft and under only need the registration and others require a title to transfer ownership

Is owning a boat worth it? I don't have a boat but want one and some people I know that own kayaks tell me just get a kayak towing, ramp fees, taxes maintenance boats are a pain in the rear, I've also fished around bank fishermen that own boats and they say bank fishing is more relaxing so I'm here all confused if I really wanna spend money on a boat now.

I fish from both a kayak and a 12’ jon boat. I prefer the boat since I can carry more stuff plus I can stand up and take a step or two. What I found, in my case, the boat was no more trouble than the kayak though I did have to register it with the state.

Bank fishing sucks buy you a boat You will love it In any boat including a yak has to be registered if it has a motor

It's a huge difference to be able to get off the bank and reach so many different spots from different different angles. A 12' jon boat is no maintenance, and doesn't even require a trailer because it can fit in the back of your truck or on the top of your vehicle, like a canoe. Trolling motors are super useful and inexpensive, but will require you to register your boat, like $20/year in most states. As for launch fees, it just depends on where you live. Free to $5 most places. And if you have a regular hole, you can get a season pass.

@@ryskyhighlights1327 Check your state's laws. In my state if you only paddle or row no paper work is needed, but if you use any kind of mechanical propulsion, even an electric trolling motor, the boat has to be registered and that requires paperwork even for a jon boat.

No, in Virginia you have to register any boat that has any kind of electric or outboard motor, so you have to have registration papers. If not, it could be stolen and it could have no title for insurance purposes

They went up this year ,a lot of fixer uppers and piece together s [scavenging] several junk boats to make it look like its a whole boat with trailer going for premium prices. not worth my time
