I found coop games when my kids became teenagers and they started getting ultra competitive with each other, especially when their friends came around. Watching a bunch of teenage boys playing coop games is an experience....
Eldritch Horror has a special, warm place in my heart. It's so good, even solo. For me the must-have expansion that made it awesome was 'Under the Pyramids'. Return to Dark Tower is a newer co-op that I enthusiastically recommend if it fits one's budget. Horrified is very accessible, fun, oozes theme with the special way each monster challenges you, and offers great bang for the buck.
My new favourite channel! Great production, but most importantly, you have creative approaches to your content and how you share your info. You play really well off each other. Looking forward to the next one!
Late to the party - but my co-op faves (not mentioned in the video - and in no particular order) include: Unsettled The entire Forbidden Series The Captain is Dead Series Lost Ruins of Arnak - The Missing Expedition Cthulhu Death May Die Roll Camera Pandemic Iberia Thunderbirds The Cooperative Board Game The Loop Back To The Future Back In Time Sub Terra 2 Burgle Bros 2 The Casino Caper Wonder Book Stranger Things Atlantis Rising I love a co-op I do 😅
A game that's great for families and for kids to play without parents is Ghost Fightin' Treasure Hunters. It has a Pandemic Jr feel to it. Keep up the great work guys!
Guys thank you so much for all the cool content! I think I would add maybe Robinson Crusoe..? Or First Martians (since they're both basicaly the same..) Keep up the awesome work!
I’m a big fan of the “captain is dead”, it plays great with a ton of people however I’ve found it’s harder with more people. The captain dies and it’s up to everyone at the table to maintain the spaceship and fight off aliens while they board you. Very tense game but some of the most satisfying wins I’ve had, I highly recommend checking it out!
Burgle Bro's - 1 and 2 - spectacular co op game where you play diferent characters robbing a bank or casino and you have to move through unknown rooms avoiding guards and bad rooms using skills and items you have. then once youve grabbed the loot - GET OUT! - requires lots of planning and talking about plans. Most people we have played with have bought their own copy of the game.
I literally thought about „when will the new hangover video come out“ COUNTLESS times during the last days 🥰 can‘t get enough of your videos. Can‘t pinpoint what it is about your videos however I really enjoy them SO MUCH ❤️ thank you two ❤️
Would add Arkham Horror: The Card game, Dungeon Fighters and Magic Maze. But it's definitely hard to make a top when each of the games has their own best time when to bring them to the table.
Agreed! We got it right when it was first launched, and we devoured all the scenarios. 😄 We had played quite a bit of Robo Rally back in the day, but Mechs vs. Minions basically retired that game for us. Must get it back to the table again!
Have you checked out Atlantis Rising? It’s a worker placement co-op that plays up to 7 players. I bought it to meet that higher player count.. and there’s no down time as players take their turn together.
Interesting list with some surprises for sure. Some of my favorite co-ops: Aeon’s End or Astro Knights, Marvel Champions, any from the Pandemic series, Forbidden Island/Desert, Flash Point, the Grizzled and especially Bullet!
@@BoardGameHangover yes! With co-op, everyone works together to defeat a boss. There are special abilities only in co-op that help each other. Really fun!
Hello, my name is Erik. I just found your guys' channel and I've got to say that I have a great time watching. I'm not one to watch RU-vid videos often, but I love the quality you put into your videos. Great job and thank you for inspiring me. I've been thinking about getting a board game my wife and I can play and I think we'll get Sleeping gods. Best of luck to your channel!
I would love to have a version of Gloomhaven which you could just one-shot. I don't have time nor patience for campaign games, no matter how good they are, and I play with a lot of mixed groups. This is why I like Spirit Island a lot better: it has KIND OF a similar tactical card system, but doesn't have the burden of campaign stuff. Both games are heavy and require some time to teach and get used to, though, so I oftentimes keep The Crew, Just One and Ghost Stories at hand for quicker co-op nights.
Dead men tell no tales is very interesting! 😊 I love the pace of that game and tension before every new threat that appears. Really makes you believe that you are exploring a burning ship 😁
Honestly one of the best coop lists I've seen. I'd like to mention coop wise burgle Bros, Atlantis rising, now boarding, planet apocalypse, magic maze, and subterra.
Actually glad when you don't have games I would have on my list. This way I can find out some new good games. For me out of the ones you don't have is Marvel Champions, Robinson Crusoe, Horrified and Back to the Future(Yes, it's a pain in the neck with the Biff's roles but its so thematic)
I would have put it above the crew. I want to try spirit island but i hear it's complicated so I've stayed away....for now. Love the mind and eldritch horror.
Spirit Island THE BEST beefy co-op, but for quick and easy / casual we like Zombies keep out. A hoard of three coloured zombie minis are coming from a literal pool at your backyard, you have five access points to your house that you need to defend while building machines to win the game. If bad things happen, you take bites and can't talk very well or at all, so communication becomes hilarious too. Light and fun and the rules are very easy.
With my gaming group, we’re mostly playing CO-OP games and one of our new favourites is Viticulture with the World expansion, really fun and very thinky game! Another fun, and way less thinky, is Massive Darkness- we’re currently playing the campaign play of the 2nd one, and we’re having a blast! And my last suggestion, for 2 players (it can be played with more than that but I think 2 is the perfect number), is Roll Player Adventure! That game bring us back to the old days of adventure books. It’s a super fun game with a lot of hard decisions to make! Great video, as usual!! :)
5 minutes dungeon Itis a cooperative party game. Simple, quick, fun. Could be a bit of chaos, but there is no time to think, and every player do simultan actions and each player need to focus and do their best.
Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle is awesome, especially after adding into the Monstrous Book of Monsters expansion. You have games that are hard yes, but that's the fun when you have insurmountable odds (Like Harry, Ron, and Hermione did) and you win! For anyone seeing this now, the MOnstrous book of Monsters adds some extra difficulty and some new mechanics to help out and makes it more complex and fun. The Potions expansion makes the game too easy (imo) and drags the game on longer (especially when you combine this and the other expansion together). I think that Aeons' End is one of my FAVORITE cooperative deckbuilders simply because it's more complex than others of its kind and with all the expansions that are now present, this game has a LOT of replayability.
I've heard a lot of chatter about Burgle Bros (1 and 2) What are your thoughts? I always keep an eye out for games that I can play with my kids who usually don't like board games.
Any advice on something suitable for a family with a 6 year-old? Coop that is. Also something suitable for a 6 year old that has maybe a bit of a dnd element - rolls, initiative, etc.?
I'd take Sentinels of the Multiverse (especially the more polished Definitive Edition) over Marvel Champions and Marvel United any day. Otherweise an overall nice list, even when some of my other all time favourites are missing (Mansions of Madness, Burgle Bros, Horrified to name a few).
arkham horror lcg . i play it with one of my friend and solo . lots of content and stories. even more fan made scenarios . sherlock holmes consulting detective .
Don't worry Christopher Forgotten Waters is an amazing game it just isn't a cooperative one. You do some things together, but really are each fighting for your own things.
Just arrived here to see some love for Magic maze and well, nothing! Personally I lately really enjoy and continue to think about Aeon's End, which is much better than Hogwarts Battle but fills the same niche
Where is the "Forbidden" series: Forbidden Island, Forbidden Desert, etc? Hands down Forbidden Island is a the best first coop game experience for folks. Short, asymmetric game play, and enough strategy to make it interesting. Other coop games we really like: The Grizzled and Flashpoint.
Hate Coop games, love your vids. No matter the video, i'll be watching you guys. I like your system, and it's relaxing to me. Maybe something to do with the accent haha
For me the Arkham Horror was oppenner for coop games. But for nowtimes my favorite cooperative board game is Pathfinde Action Card Game 2 edition. Why? Becouse it's have most cooperative mechanics - heal each others, help, fight against monsters (kinda) Very sad that's Paizo don't work on it =C
I played it years ago when it just came out. Then it felt like somebody described it to me, worlds slowest deckbuilder. Maybe it has changed over the years.
I still think Eldritch Horror is the most underrated title in the Arkham Horror series. I see all the praise for Mansions of Madness and the card game, but my group prefers Eldritch horror for its map and abstract storytelling, it gets a lot of criticism but I think it really works in a boardgame like this to create memorable stories without making the game feel too railroaded.
The civilian mechanic in horrified kills me. A civilian getting dropped right on a monster by random chance can just completely tank a game, and it’s no fun.
@@Godwilla39 True, it could be really annoying. No doubt it's a biggest minus for the game. I had one game on hardest difficulty where that happened at least three times (still managed to win). It's a family game and a some random is fine, in my opinion. You can get lucky/unlucky with draw, dice roll, tokens etc. Of course you will get unlucky at some but lucky at other things. For me this is less annoying than instant fail token in Arkham Horror lcg. To sum up civilians instantly dying is a problem that I would like to be improved (for example they spawn at the end of the monster phase). However, I still highly recommend Horrified as family game. If you are looking for something more strategic and without randomness then of course this isn't the game. What's your favourite co-op's?
@@janisbernans6541 Right now I’m in love with spirit island, which I know is a bit cliche, but it is just a masterclass in game design to me; the perfect marriage of theme and mechanics.
We have played the older version and we did enjoy it, but not enough for it to get on the list. Maybe if we get the newer version sometime in the future, that could change.
I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I hate games/activities where you have to look for hidden objects, so I don't think MicroMacro would be a game for me.
My husband and I like: Horrified, Legendary Encounters: Alien, Robinson Crusoe, Chronicles of Crime. We play Marvel Champions a lot, but I think I prefer to play it solo. Zombie Kidz Evolution, Chronicles of Avel and Outfoxed are the best with our children. My husband really loves The Crew, but I prefer games where you can discuss over the table. I think MicroMacro is something for us to try. Thank you very much! 😉 I would love Destinies to be cooperative. 🙃Detective, Pandemic Legacy and Aeon's End are waiting to be played 🙃 We need more time!🥲 But maybe with the kids we should try Marvel United... Spirit Island is so hard for two. 😅😅😅 I'm very curious about Sleeping Goods and Gloomheaven JoTL, but I'm not even thinking about buying them for now. I love your toplists, I show them to my husband as absolutely undisputed and indisputably accurate opinions about games. 😏😏😏 And he still want to play Gloomheaven. W h y ?? Best wishes guys! Please, just keep working! 😁
