**DISCLAIMER** this is based solely on my memory and research from when I was applying to schools! I am by no means an expert-the only school I have direct experience with (besides the application process) is Emory-I just remember having no idea where to start this research process and hoped to give some of you a jumping off point :)) hope you enjoy!!
I have a strength of writing pretty well. I’m no author though, nor in any profession I could use it for. I also feel like I could hone it more. What degree/major in college should I go for that could potentially lead to that pays thrivable income?
such a good point about the “creative writing minors within english programs that are just as good as a creative writing program” SUCH a good take. my school has a creative writing minor within the english program and it let me take so many different creative writing classes in any order i wanted it was so fun and freeing fr. and the professors are great. this english program is fabulous it’s case western if anyone’s looking for a program highly recommend.
OH MY GOSH i love what you said about taking classes with people who are passionate. those classes are the best!! i’m taking a sexual revolutions class and we all were so passionate during all the discussions. i’d love to like get that experience of seeing people in their majors who are passionate the way i’m passionate about writing.
HI!! I really enjoyed the video, it helped a bunch! I’m a sophmore, 15, and really into writing but hoping to be an ESL/TEFL Teacher either online or abroad as a career. I still wanna major in Creative Writing and I really like UNCW’s program (also has a great education department). It seems very very nice and it’s in-state for me, even though I moved here. I came from NY so I was also thinking of Pratt Institute, but not sure what writing they focus of since it’s an art school. What are your thoughts on UNCW and Pratt Institute?
I don't know much about those programs specifically, but you seem to be on a great track! you can absolutely do teach abroad programs and also major in CW, that's pretty common I would say! I would take a look at the websites & course lists of the colleges you're considering and/or reach out to instructors directly about the program :)
I don't know very much about CW programs in Europe since I didn't do much research into them myself, but I do know that in certain places tuition is greatly reduced or free (if you know German, Germany is totally free I believe)! I know a little about certain postgraduate programs abroad if you have questions about that :)
Hi dear, my name is ghazaal. I'm a novel and fiction writer but now I'm living in Iran, and wanna apply for creative writing to graduate and learn more about writing methods, so I must get TOEFL and this is really hard to me! 😥 Could you please tell me which universities are better to accept abroad students and is it possible to accept me without TOEFL score? I mean I take my TOEFL score after being accepted? Thanks ☺️
I wish I had more info on this, but I'm not sure! I'd recommend reaching out to schools directly about whether they accept applications without the TOEFL, but when it comes to whether or not they're more likely to accept your app you're probably best reaching out to current/former international students/applicants (sometimes there's an international student advisor at the college and that could be another person to ask, I know the guy here is super helpful and amazing!)
