Thanks for this video! I own an X100F. I used to shoot Nikon D-SLRs and stopped bringing them on trips because I got tired of walking around all day with ~5lbs of camera + lens hanging off my neck. For travel, I tried the better point & shoot cameras for their smaller size but found their speed and tactile (non-menu) controls lacking. As smartphones got better cameras, they replaced my P & S but still couldn’t match the speed, control or overall quality of a D-SLR. Last year, I realized Fuji’s X-T20 mirrorless system might be (for me) the optimal blend of all those attributes, including a compact size. I sold all my Nikon and P&S gear, bought an X-T20 and rediscovered the joy of photography.

Image quality, ease of use, stabilization, zoom, and focus performance in your user opinion?? I shoot wildlife, landscapes, and architecture mostly. Would you recommend?

As simple as follows: the larger the sensor, the better. APS-C: - Nikon Coolpix A (discontinued) - Ricoh GR III - Fujifilm X100F - Etc Full Frame: - Sony RX1 - Leica Q2 - Zeiss ZX1 - Etc

My all-time favorite brand is Sony, and my first camera is going to be Sony RX100, It is feature packed and affordable, no wonder it ranked at 2nd.

I like the fact that you were honest and realistic.You told every side-good and bad.Good job :D Would you tell me which Sony RX 100 is this ? There are few versions of RX 100 with different price tags. Picking a best video camera isn’t easy - it depends heavily on the specific purpose

I love my x20, but the OVF is useless for precise framing. Surprised to see it on the list, especially at number 1. I would really like an rx100 to complement my canon s110.

Because a gopro has a smaller sensor, smaller body and last but not least; a fixed focal lenght

So much wrong with this list... X20 has a tiny sensor similar to a smartphone, and it’s from 2013. That’s super outdated in the camera world, and a serious photographer would never consider it. It doesn’t belong anywhere near the other cameras on the list. The Rx100 line is a solid rec, but nothing earlier than the mark V version makes sense. The Ricoh GR is good, but why not the mark III? The G7X III is probably bested by the G5X II, which has a viewfinder and longer reach, and definitely by the G1X III, which has a much larger APS-C sensor. Where’s the LX100 II? That should be on here. At least the X100F is a good recommendation, but it barely qualifies as pocketable.

when it comes to being compact, what i want to see most is how it fits in the hands and in the pockets. Zooming into how the cameras look doesn't help me see that it's compact, it looks like all other big cameras

Those are really old tech cameras no updates since 2012. Thats why the price drop. If you want them more modern it could cost you $800+

I think the writing has been on the wall for a few years now; compact cameras are becoming redundant and on the way out like the PDA. Smartphone cameras will do more than most people expect nowadays and getting better all the time.
