The thing is, most movies have a soundtrack and I find REL's deliver far more nuance and emotion than your HT subwoofers which just add crash and bangs. Once you adjust to less crash and bang, you really do get used to not having that but opening up to far more in return, in my opinion of course. I'd find it hard to go back from REL to your more standard subwoofers.

Cheers patrick, self learning when time is limited is tough, the new house is still in the building stage probably another 6-8months hopefully. Definately will be recording the entire new theater build process. 👌🙂

Got mine a few weeks ago and loving it. Agree re: logos on feet. They could have just printed them on one side so you could have the option of turning them around if you didn’t want to see them. But sound wise I think it’s great!!! And I am really hearing subsonic bass. It has replaced my 20yr old Paradigm sub.

So glad you wore gloves as that piano black finish looks like it would smudge easily. The guys that wall-mounted my TV left fingerprints! Nice Sub though although I agree the silver screws would look better black. It kinda looks like Billy Idol's studded leather jacket!

As always..great video mate! The subwopfer looks very nice. How does it stack against SVS? I know REL is rated quite high in the AV world.

Ah man its tough to answer, they are 2 completely different subwoofers, i personally wouldnt recommend the T7X for only home theater use. If you want to compare with svs the REL hT1250 is q good choice and very affordable. The HT series is designed more for them big booms. I found the T7X more convenient of both worlds hifi and h.t. The high level input is definately unique and has some juice but ofcoarse wont compete with subwoofers double their pricetags. Thanks brother 👌🍻

Far as the lower frequencies go, I’m guessing it’s a matter of acclimation, if you’re coming from a ported sub. Also, it’s a trade off. Seems as if you get more resolution from your other speakers when paired with a sealed sub. That said, I’m awaiting delivery of a 7 b/c the 5 seems a bit too small for my listening space. Nonetheless, I’m sold on REL. I’m amazed & confused by the results. My setup has never sounded better 🤔🙌🏽

Seems as if it’s a matter of acclimation when it comes to REL, T series. The reward or result is greater resolution.

Does this kind of downfiring passive radiator sub benefit from an isolation platform?

It's quite well known that the T7X is designed more for music than home theater, it doesn't have the "impact" that a HT sub requires. It's apparently absolutely seamless with music though and this is where it shines. I have mine on order from my local audio dealer and can hardly wait to hear it along with the Magnepan 1.7 and Rotel seperates.

agree but you will also be suprised on how well it does for a home theater use, when the highpass is hooked up, ofcoarse depends on room size etc but it is one impressive unit you will NOT be dissapointed with. ENJOY mate😎

@kitlope hey, what are you using to drive your maggies with? I just put mine on order last week (1.7i) but they won’t be coming in until January. The place I ordered them from is trying to get me to buy a REL sub as well, so it looks like we are gonna have a similar setup!

@@darkroom8317 I bought the Maggie 1.7 in 2013 and started off using Marantz MA-500 monoblocks tied into a Denon 3805 receiver and they just didn't have enough power to make the speakers come to life, even at lower/mid volumes. So I upgraded to a total seperates system, including Rotel RB 1580 pre-amp & Rotel RB 1582 2 CH poweramp and a Marantz SA8004 CD player. I would prefer a Bryston power amp but alas just too much money, the Rotel was less than half the cost (I also bought the demo). Keep in mind Maggies are a 4 ohm speaker so whatever you use needs to be 4 ohm stable. The Rotel I purchased is and probably one of the only 4 ohm stable at around the price I paid (approx $2400.00 Cdn), seems it starts getting expensive. I'm replacing the sub I've had since 1998, Mirage BPS 150i. It's showing it's age and time for something new, so thus Rel T7x. I'm very very happy with the sound of everything but I've also decided that after 20 years of chasing the audio dragon that I'm quite content. Of course, until a Bryston 4B goes on sale :)

Hsu research ULS-15 MK2 is 18×18×18 so still pretty compact. Under $1K, I would take the HSU

@@hstudio30 I do think it's a play on technological terms. You have to have had ULS-15 MK2s to know their limitations and customizations. I have them and they are remarkable plus they go down low. RELs have a cultish following but I'll stick with my Hsu's. The only RELs would fit my bill would be the HT 1508's. Thanks for your post but this REL is too small for my taste.

It is a small subwoofer yes and HT series definately is a better choice for those that are only into HT. 🍻👍
