I went into this game completely blind - I even had no idea I'd meet little IRL companions! This turned out to be one of the most beautiful gaming experiences of my life.

Gris, Rime and Aer: Memories of Old, all worthy beautiful games! But none, not even Gris, has the emotional impact that Journey gave me (imo). So glad you had a wonderful companion your first play!

@@Tryforce8000 I spent many wonderful hours cursing my flying skills in Aer lol. But I loved the art style, story and exploration. Have you played the demo for the proposed 2nd release? It died, but it's still a free download from the devs old site I believe. I had fun with that too!

@@silversong4VR Lol, completely understand. I had some issues myself initially. Yes, it was so beautiful. I just love games that allow you to fly (relatively) without restrictions. No, I haven't! Didn't even know it was getting a second release. I'll go check it out, thanks!

what's really cool about your buddy is that at 1:32:26 and 1:33:11 he actually takes the hit for you. that part, you're meant to hide from the spotlight by going in the little thingies, but the first time, you didn't realize this. instead of letting the monster see you, you can see him literally run out of the hiding spot when he realized you weren't gonna come in the hiding spot with him in time. and then he leads it away from you so that the monster doesn't hit you both. and the second time, he got caught by accident, but still walked away from you for the same reason. journey is literally about helping others through their journey. most people will lead the newbies to all the collectibles, and help a bit. but this guy obviously wanted you to have a good experience, and never got in your way, and even protected you from the monsters. the best player i've encountered. the journey community is so wholesome.

at first i wished he led you to the collectibles, but after seeing how he was following you and being your support, i realized why he did what he did. since this game rewards people who replay it, there are still people today who play the game over and over, guiding countless amounts of people on their journeys. it's possible to be paired with a first timer as well, but imo the game is better when you're paired with someone who's already beaten it. emotional as all hell either way, though. really makes you interested in human emotion and how easily we can form bonds with people without ever saying a word.@@lucyjrobyn

@@crowsvai just wondered as there's a level select on 2nd playthrough, but does the game remember trophy progress, so say you did 15/21 of those glyphs, will it remember that or does it totally reset progress. i know i missed lot's of thing's on my 1st playthrough, my companion was searching alot and we split several times throughout that playthrough.

@@gazster it remembers your progress but you start "fresh" with your scarf each time.

@@silversong4VR it's ok now i got all the trophies 👍 took many playthroughs and although you can meet player's on different levels it seems more likely at the broken bridge and if you stay red scarf you can connect to the newer players so it seems, going to white scarf seems to be a lonely experience i found lol but ideal if your doing the extra bits and want to whizz through levels.

You had such solid companions. They saw you were a newbie and must've wanted you to experience the joy of exploring everything on your own without a more experienced player showing you all the secrets right off the bat. Very patient and was just there to support you. Thanks for sharing this run.

It's so nice when you're new to the game and you meet a more experienced player who joins you and helps you through the game, but also it's equally wonderful when you become more experienced and meet a new player yourself and join them on their journey.

just played it last night for the first time and was on the broken bridge level and another player came up next to me, i remember thinking what's the chance of that lol we did split several times as i got lost but i did get a silver trophy companions at the end but the player wasn't there at the end as i think you have to walk through light together for another trophy pop up. it was a very interesting game, very different from anything i've ever played before.
