Really? Inflation is out of control in Poland so not great for average people. It's terrible for business people with all the bureaucracy and tax. Austria could be good for a working person though I think Switzerland is still better with higher wages, lower taxes & a great functioning system. Bulgaria for low income location independent workers can be good. Portugal is getting much more expensive, tough for locals so I think might be better to be in Cyprus or Malta where there's more opportunity.

​@OffshoreCitizen just back from a year in Warsaw Poland. I was very lucky to get a $750-800 studio in a prime location. In July '22 I paid $4200 for an absolutely tiny airbnb in the center one month! Nevertheless, my total cost of living was only $1700 per month for an entire year there.

@@Existmusiccloud Warsaw is on par with Berlin for amenities and prices as it is one of the futuristic cities and by 2030 where everyone with bux ($$) wants some action. I love Warsaw but invest now and in "Stary Miasto as it will be the same as Londonin (in terms of housing costs) is today in 5 years time. I recommend visiting KL before making any commitments. KL feels very international, so food options are certainly not a problem. Alcohol, partying, etc is all available so no worries there. Your money will go further than in EU that’s for sure. Kuala Lumpur is one of the best cities I’ve been to when it comes to the value of your money. It goes far :)

Looking back at it, at over $1 million in tax. I’d probably go back to step 1 and move to Malaysia after renouncing. Luckily I don’t have to worry about that just yet, but I don’t think paying $300-400k annually to Uncle Sam is worth keeping a US passport, when that money reinvested over a decade or two could be a life changing sum of money

@@phlowbo Well... I'm at the border waiting for the door to open! I fully understand the public health need to keep us out... but most older people have now been fully VAXXED, tested many times and willing to travel! I'm sure Malaysia will need the extra revenue to jump start the economy. I'm guessing most will purchase apartments, cars, employ maids/drivers and spend around 10,000-15,000 Ringgit per month. We are 'usually' no problem, law abiding and hopefully add to the society. Hopefully 2022 will be the MM2H year - IF the government brings the scheme back.

@@phlowbo I know it seems strange, but after visiting Malaysia many times, I've always thought of it as home. I know it is not perfect, no where is... but it comes VERY close. The kindness of the people, the food, multicultural aspects of life, English is spoken by a lot of people, the history, the culture, the beaches, the jungle... so many reasons...

Depends from what perspective. Cost of living to quality of life is pretty good if you like Taiwan. Some people love it but that's up to your personal preference.

@@hiroanz It depends on how your taxes are structured in Malaysia. On the surface Malaysia is not a low tax country with a top tax rate of 24% but in most cases you can structure your income so you're subject to around a 3% tax rate give or take depending on the visa you're on and where your income is sourced. if you do that then Malaysia is lower than most places.

I’m a Malaysian, Taiwan is a great place to be, its advanced, great food, nice people, beautiful and totally livable. Taiwan is rather homogeneous unlike Malaysia which is multicultural and very well connected to the world. Malaysia has great healthcare, great lifestyle, true value for money, if you are a global citizen like me, you’d find Malaysia on top of the list. I’ve work and live in 4 continents and I still think Malaysia gives me the best value for my money.

Taiwan? You might as well move to Beijing. LOL

Just a note of caution about the freelance visa thing. If you aren't genuinely living in UAE this may not hold up with your home country. People tend to have a mistaken view about the need for residency elsewhere vs the need to be non resident in other places. Non residency is more important in most cases than residency

@@OffshoreCitizen Someone told me I need to setup a shell company offshore in a zero or low tax jurisdiction, and then charge consulting fees or other service fees to my local company in South Africa. But I doubt it can be so easy to reduce tax liability? How to circumvent the "source of income" taxation rules. Income will be taxed based on the source where it was derived. Can you explain?

I use to live in Malta and I can't quote you enough. Bloody stressful traffic, overcrowded place and not that friendly at all.

Malaysia is a safe country

I am born and raised in Helsinki. Its getting worse every year, things might be better here at the moment compared to for example Indonesia, but the difference is countries like Indonesia are progressing forward whilst Nordic and western countries are going to the opposite direction.

So much potential, but I think that more and more prosperous people will decide to leave. :( On the other hand they’ll attract foreigners who will happily use welfare and social services while contributing nothing to the country. Glad you're liking Scandinavia. Finland isn't to my taste it's pretty much never warm even the summers are miserable and there's too little going on there for me but things do work quite well. If I was going to choose Scandinavia I'd probably go with Norway or Sweden.

i think both guys @Ksatriafx and @commmentz have different intentions. As one can drive from the nickname @Ksatriafx is more into moneywise satisfaction. In the contarary @commmentz looks to overall happiness, i think.

Because what you get from the country is probably worth as much or more than what you're paying (wouldn't recommend hiring there that's another matter). Imagine you move to Malaysia and put your kids in international schools suddenly that costs more than your taxes, you pay for healthcare that would normally be free etc. The equation is quite simple what are you giving up vs what are you getting in return you need to include both sides of the equation.

Low local wages. Access to Europe with ease. Varying levels of education for kids. Including an outstanding IB school that's actually affordable. Check it out

@@venusreena2532 yeah you can afford to live there for that much but you don't gain benefit from living there for that much. This video is about the best places based on how much you earn. Consider it like this if the increases in your cost of living are greater than the tax savings then it is a net negative. It also depends somewhat on how you want to live, the life that will cost you $4k/mo. in Dubai could be had for half of that or less in some other countries so you need to be saving lets say an additional $3k/mo. on tax above the other country to break even. Now, personally, for the lifestyle I prefer in Dubai you're talking about more like $15k/mo. for a couple so if you could live an equivalent lifestyle in another country for say $5k that's $120k/yr extra tax savings I need to generate. If you assume say a 10% tax rate in someplace like Bulgaria (and you can get lower than that) this is equivalent to $1.2 million in annual income to have a net savings. Hence the calculations.

Hej Fredrik! You could consider the French canton of Switzerland even if cost of living are a bit higher compared to the German canton. English is becoming more and more common so communication may not be a big headache. Also, imho, people living in the French Canton are a bit more "open mind". Nature is great all around the country.

London has been an attractive global city in general. It's also been a major financial center known for rule of law so considered relatively safe to hold money. Then they have the non Dom & used to have investment visas

@@freyagrayden9851 I'm presuming you're referring to statements about wages in Australia relative to some other places? This doesn't refer to minimum wages, which really don't affect our viewers. They are referencing the wages you'll get as a professional for example, if you're a software engineer living in Seattle your wages are much higher than the same in Australia. You can see this throughout many fields, data on CEO compensation will show you places like Australia are approximately 1/3 of what they are in the US. Then there's positions in finance, or medicine (median doctor salaries in the US are around 3x that of Australia). The list goes on.

@@MichaelRosmer I worked as a Teacher in both the USA (Cali, Bay Area) and Australia. Both had a similar cost of living and taxation and I was paid MUCH more in Australia. Again I think it depends on your life circumstances. Germany is good if you're a regular wage earner with a family. Why? Because first the services are quite good. Like it or not Germany is a country where systems like healthcare and education work quite well. Second, wages are pretty decent but cost of living is fairly affordable by European standards. Ie. Switzerland or Norway have higher wages but are MUCH more expensive. Consider what the alternatives are if you're in that situation. Most places in the world have lower wages, higher cost of living, and worse healthcare and education. Switzerland is indeed good though offers less due to lower population. Nice place, kind of boring.

@@MichaelRosmer I agree with Max on this - I would leave Germany especially if I have a family. In Germany home-schooling is illegal, and some Germans have even applied for asylum in the USA to be able to home-school. The right to home-schooling is one of the cornerstones of independent thought, and in my view, any country that makes it illegal is fundamentally against individual freedom - because it means that the state decides what happens to your kids, and not you. Also, Western Europe in general is a tax hellhole that will leave you with very little disposable income even if gross pay is good. My 2 cents :)

You propably got a wrong view of Germany and i will explain here why: Lets say you got an Pre-Tax Income of 3500 Euros what is average - good. Then your company already paid about 300 Euro health insurance because its split 50 % 50 on employee and employer. From that 3500 Euro Pre-Tax you get a net income of about 2100 Euro (if you are single) (health insurance already payed). Houses even in medium sized towns cost about half a million Euro. So rent an apartement is the go to for most germans. Here the prices are also pretty high: About 500 Euro for 35 m^2 in medium sized town. The Price of electricity is the highest in the world!!! (32 cents per KWH) water price is high, taxes for ground are high, foodstuffs prices are high (about 350 Euro / month), having a car is incedible expensive in Germany: Car tax + doubble tax on fuel (yes in Germany you pay a tax on a tax on fuel), parking also costs some euros if you go shop in a larger city. You are also forced to pay for the TV and radio Propaganda (18 Euro / Month per house) (even if you dont use it). 25 % Tax on stock also and some strange constucts if you are in the futures market (constructs that do not benefit you). Its save to say that you are paying about 3/4 of your income for the country at the end of the day. The economic situation will get worse due more taxes are in plan and our politician think that we can basically throw away our car industry cause its "dangerous for the environment" and they plan to make cars electric what ofc needs massive subvention cause not competitive. It also kills hundred thousands of jobs. That is a big deal ofc cause 20 % of jobs of the industry are direct or indirect connected to the car industry. Its like if russia would decide not to sell oil and gas anymore.; or Spain bans Tourists. Politicians also started debate on take away property if its empty. Companies, especially smal ones, struggling with all the regulations and often spend up to 30 % of thair worktime for undestanding it and do things right or they will face massive penalties. Politicians are also corrupt on personal level what is well known but nothing happens. There is sometimes an article about it in the news but they just keep going. And there is also a big mistrust in people that are sucessful, especially when they are millionaires, in the society. Its pretty obvious things are going in the wrong direction here in Germany and that with high speed.

@@hostmuller2481 Wow that sounds pretty bad! However there’s still a trend of people from Eastern European countries moving to Germany to get jobs there. It’s still a better place to live than let’s say Serbia or Bosnia, that’s why all those people are relocating. In Serbia average salary is 500€, and many people make much less than that. So for them to move to Germany and make 2000€ is a lot. Especially since they are willing to live in pretty bad conditions sharing apartment with many people, riding on public transit, not eating out, etc. So if you’re poor Bosnian and are looking for a job, Germany is still a place to move to. Especially if you’re in healthcare industry. What’s good and what’s not really depends on our background and situation we live in. I believe that for lots of poor people from other countries Germany is still considered to be heaven on earth, even though many Germans would disagree.
