As a Malaysian, it's a neck to neck race in comparison. I like Thailand, Thai people and Thai cuisine. But really... the big down about Thailand is the communication, the language barrier. About food, I guess it's a personal preference. To me Malaysian food represent almost every ethnicity in Asia. Malaysian cuisine diversity at its best.

I hope one day you can come back to experience Sabah and Sarawak. The nature in my state is amaaaazing! We also have undiscovered primary forests, plenty of beaches and that one spot where two ocean collides (Kudat). I was looking forward to see if you come but I forgot about the Visa :(

wish u came during the not so rainy season. so that you can come the the island here. we have one of the best island in the world. kapas is good but there is a lot more island that is gorgeous. plus you havent been to sabah n sarawak where the nature is 10x more beautiful than in the peninsular. but thanks for everything u said about malaysia. wish u could come here again in the future. i wish you luck n safety in your next adventure in the next country. be safe n stay healthy

Thailand has legal weed now, HUGE edge for thailand. Kuala Lumpur used to be my favorite city but now bangkok has taken the throne. I thought the sheer variety of gigantic malls and food options were crazy in KL but Bangkok is on another level. I'm actually in KL right now but headed back to bangkok in 2 months.

I've been to both and for me it's definitely Thailand, Phuket. The nature food, hospitality, and amazing activities are better in Thailand. Also the shopping and partying experience in Thailand is much better. Plus the hotel rooms rooms are bigger in Thailand than Malaysia.

The first thing i would observe when visiting other country and the very first judgement i would make about them (the non negotiable to me) is the *PEOPLE.* It doesn't matter how beautiful the country is, how tasty the food is, how affordable the accomodation, price etc - all of this is important but they come 2nd. And the gap between the 1st and 2nd important things is very wide. Most people whether it be tourist that come to Malaysia or Malaysian that travel to other country always talk about how beautiful the place is, the food, culture etc but that's not what i want to hear. Personally the *first thing I would judge is how kind the people are, how accomodating, understanding, how helpful they are, and how they treat other people.* If the 1st one they didn't tick the box, the rest doesn't matter. I would say how people treat others especially if you're not from that country would impact you personally cause when you're in a bad situation, the people around you would be the 1st that you notice about the state of someone's heart. For example, during Covid time Malaysia goes into lockdown, so many things would be difficult for people who are not native, and Malaysia try to help foreigners to be comfortable with their living situation. Visa, immigration, food, necessities. But if you look at other country from a Malaysian standpoint that is stuck in another country, they're not really accomodating to outsiders. You're on your own. You either survive or you don't. You don't speak native people language - you get blame. You don't understand the culture - nobody's correcting you politely. 😓 From my pov, this is quite scary situation to experience. So *people* is at the top of my judgement of certain country before anything else. ☺️

Hello Mat Win, you will definitely rate scenery of Malaysia higher if you had gone to east coast of peninsular when not in monsoon season and also if you explore more areas within peninsular outside of big cities and in the kampung where the views are much more spectacular. This is because peninsular Malaysia is quite mountainous with many waterfalls as its landscape is dominated by the Titiwangsa mountain range. If you had ventured into interior areas of Kelantan like Gua Musang, or taken the jungle train, hike in Taman Negara, visit northwestern state of Kedah and Perlis, etc. your view will definitely change. 😭🤗🤩

Love Malaysia and Thailand equally but its a lot easier to manouvre around with most Malaysian has good proficiency in english. Malaysia also tend to go out of their way ro accomodate, a lot of countries do look at tourist as having a big fat wallet, they do size you up. Malaysia on the other hand I can almost guarantee you pay what the locals pay amd sometimes the locals would pay for you!
