Can't decide but I'm leaning toward Guzzling Granny. The "baby" in question is my son in law. Hie favorite throw is a yucky old blanket and my daughter would prefer something a little nicer.
I’m going to be a great grandma and it’s a boy and this I found in RU-vid is fantastic, love what I see and will begin crocheting as soon as I purchase the yarns, I can’t wait, thank you.
Thanks for the amazing patterns. I’m a knitter and am trying to learn some easy patterns for crocheting. The only one I’ve made thus far is a shell pattern baby blanket which turned out lovely. I’m always amazed at what we can create when we follow instructions!! 😊
I will be making every single one of these Christa. This video is the best. I love nothing more than making a quick baby blanket for relaxing and I have notes everywhere from Watching Stack in the Back and noting the baby blankets. Now all in one place. You’re amazing thank you.
I love making baby blankets 😊 My favourite one is the sober granny stitch, it's very easy and relaxing, I'm actually working on one for a preemie project ❤ Thanks for showing these inspirations 🤗
Love your “Granny Oeuvre”! Who knew there are so many Grannies to choose from?! And all of them are so fabulous! Clearly I’m going to have to work my way through the entire Granny-verse - 😂 - to figure out which one is my favorite. Thank you for an excellent review of stitches - and for so much inspiration and encouragement. ❤
I didn't realize there were so many variations to the tradional granny stitch. I've started a Drunken, but as you counted down, the blankets just kept getting more and more pretty. I love the Sundae, and Speedy Ruth, those will be my next two, but I will try them all.
Hi- New subscriber! The Drunken Granny pattern would be great for a shawl. Love your deep dive into these blankets- TY for sharing. The Sober Granny looks like a 3DShell Stitch- which is what Im working now in an Afghan 55x70in. I may copy the edgong from SG blanket when Im done with my WIP. Thanks again.
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, @DonnasCraftingWhimsy! My other tutorials are here: ru-vid.com/group/PLpolLUf9SLHgx42hUZEW9HCfsU1oqRxbU Thank you!! 🌼🌸🌼
Love all of your patterns and tutorials:) The Drunken Granny has been my favorite - blankets and great scarves from this pattern! I love your very clear tutorials - especially how you demonstrate where stitches go with your needle😊 Thank you so much for all the wonderful crochet info and patterns👍
I don't have a favourite stitch but after seeing these I will have. I go to a craft group where we crochet (and for those smarty pants, haha, who can knit) we make blankets for charity. Trouble is I have trouble crocheting and chatting. I need easy, no brainers that look good but take not much effort. These are perfect. What with our winter coming on I will be out in force with my charity crocheting. I feel like a Granny (of some type) blanket coming on. Thanks you so much for these. Love them.
Of course, I remember the Speedy Granny Ruth Blanket, Christa!! It's definitely my fave for baby blankets as there are no holes. Actually, it's my fave for any blankets! I crocheted one for my son for his bed & he loves it! I'll have to give the Guzzling Granny blanket a go sometime.... maybe after another Granny Ruth!! All of them are beautiful, especially as you have such a good eye for colour combos! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
My favorite stitch for baby blankets is the Suzette stitch. It’s a simple one repeat that creates a very nice texture, but has no holes for little fingers and toes to get into. I’ve also use this or larger blankets. I learned it from Crystal, but have seen it in other places now that I know what it is. It’s not always called the Suzette stitch. All it is is crochet and double crochet, and the same stitch. The stitch repeat. You always end with a single crochet chain one or two and start all over.
My issue is the edges are never straight! Unless I’m doing a super large, granny square continuous, that’s the only one that’s ever straight or a corner to corner-C2C. I have tagged him with a little markers, and it still will not come out straight . Very frustrating. I’ve even ripped a blanket out three times and said that’s it. I’m done I quit.
Hello, I am new to your channel. Christa, does all of the yarn and blankets belong to you? If so, did you craft all of the blankets? And what type of yarn to you prefer?
Ciao carissima, bellissime copertine. Grazie mille
I made the sober granny and the drunken granny for gifts and they both loved them. These could easily be made into prayer shawls. Thanks for the tutorials.
I can’t ever get the first square done correctly No one seems to think that this first square is hard but I can’t seem to get the hang of that Can you please tell me anything suggestions Thank you Karen Sorenson
Love them all, but the speedy granny Ruth is my absolute fav followed by the pin curl. I’m making the Speedy Ruth now and loving every bit of it. I’m actually watching this in bed trying to recover from a bout w/vertigo and an awful headache, so I just watched the closeups Thx for sharing. You need to put your patterns in a book. I won’t hesitate to purchase it.
Ì'm sorry.....but I don't understand your meaning of "stitch". You are showing a Pattern of the blanket.....but NOT the stitch to make the pattern. Forget it.
Thanks for your feedback, @mariannesoptelean7635! For me basic crochet stitches are the main stitches - sc, hdc, dc, & tr. Stitches are a combination of those, and Patterns are instructions for rows or rounds to complete a project. Hope that makes sense? 🌴🍨✨
I've made a couple of the speedy granny blankets and they are so fun and easy to make. I'm really looking forward to making another one, I'm thinking either guzzler or sober granny :) Thanks for this awesome video!
Hello....beautiful lady...been ready to start back making baby blankets again...took a break...have followed your tutorials in the past...did the drunken granny and the sober granny...will try some of the others...thanks for this video...showing all of them...😂 ❤ wanted to tell you how I like your vibe...I'm 69...I went through the music of the 1960s and mini skirts...love the music reminds me of those days...like the pink panther...it is light hearted and fun...looking forward to continuing to watch you...hope you survive burn out and give all this up...we love you...and hope you know we will always be here for you...
I’ve made the sober granny baby blanket with a double crochet border for a boy and it turned out so beautifully. So soft and squishy. The baby boy I made it for loves it and it’s holding up very well after multiple washes.
Krista, you’re an artist! I can’t crochet fast enough to make all the beautiful things I see on your channel! Hahahaha! And yes, I totally remember pin curls!
Silly question, have you made tudorials on shawls? Like Margaret Rutherford in miss Marple shawls. I cannot find any good ones to fit my size, I'm a bit chunky and 6"1 tall. I'd love you to point me a tudorial of yours❤
That's a great idea, @biancaturner725! 👍 I have a playlist of made to size wearables here: ru-vid.com/group/PLpolLUf9SLHhJQVa-s4RTgqD0M4I93n_K Thanks!! 🌺🌼🌸
Wow that’s a lot to cloose from! Seem very beautiful. It’s hard to focus in on the blanket when you show it swinging back and forth going in and out of focus. I’d love to see them laying flat on a bed or couch maybe? Hard to tell what it looks like otherwise. I was getting dizzy. 😂 And I do not drink like many of the granny named quilts! Yikes😮
haalo Christa, I watched your haul video. I need a haul like that, because I have a very large family. There are numerous b-days in one month. Your tutos are excellent to follow, and reasonable to purchase. Pls contact.
Hi Christa...I just ordered all of the Granny patterns. I want to make the Speedy Bedspread, so, for a Queen Size, can you tell me how many yards of yarn I would need to complete this? I have watched all of the Granny tutorials and want to make them all. Thanks for any help you can give.
Thank you for this list of great patterns. I know an other easy 1-row-repeat pattern that is not mentioned here, the "Two way shell stich": chain a multiple of 4 plus 1 plus 1 turning ch, turn, crochet 1 sc from the 2nd chain in every chain; ch 2, turn; dc 2 in the first stitch, (sk 3, 1 sc + 3 dc in the next st) repeat; sk 2, end with a sc in the last st, ch 2, turn, 2 dc, (1 sc + 3 dc into the next sc) repeat, row end with 1 sc into the upper turning chain (I always use a stitch marker for this); end with a row of sc; the edge is very straight, so no border is needed; as a variation you can crochet 1 sc + 2 dc and skip 2 instead of 3; you can leave the rows of sc and start directly with the repeat rows. I have done this pattern several times, it gives a nice 3d-structure, no holes and I think it is not that much of a yarn eater
I want to make these blankets but in more updated colors. I myself love the bright colors but it seems all muted neutrals are the latest trend for baby. I have 2 daughters expecting 2 weeks apart and they bith choose neutral muted color theme for nursery. I have tons if brighter baby color yarns so i need to do some shopping
I'm glad i found this video, i make blankets for donatiin and the organizations always request no holes, hopefully a couple if these may work I'll have to test them out! If you have any mire suggestions for stitches with no holes, that would be great ! ,
Been watching you for a while, and I just subbed you are a great teacher of tutorials at almost 70 and doing this for many years I'm loving these I😮 make blankets for charity ,can do these and still enjoy relaxing while watching TV and not have to worry about following row after row of a pattern thanks!!😅
Crista, you have totally made me a new fan. You're lighthearted, you're fun and you make me laugh. I love your bubbly personality and of course your projects. The world definitely needs more people like you. What's ironic is I was looking up projects on the web and happened to see your website. Then today, i was cruising on RU-vid to watch something while I was working on a blanket I'm making for my daughter. Your channel came up and I thought, " I know that name...". Then it dawned on me. 😅🥰
Such gorgeous blankets. You sure are awesome at choosing color combos. I really have difficulty with choosing colors that go together ugh. I have to say your background is so pretty with all the colors; I love it❤❤❤gayle
Christa my favorite stitch is the ''Sunday Granny" and will definitely try it out once I finish moving in with my son and DIL who currently live a 6hr flight away from where I live now, all the blankets you have shown us are beautiful so it was hard to pick which in my opinion is the best, thank you for sharing, take care and stay well.
