I’m definitely on the build one of these- thanks for sharing. The only thing I don’t like about this is that you can’t secure the top of the canvas. but I’ll figure it out. I like to have my paintings vertical not leaning back.

This is excellent. I built a very basic easel for my studio a few years ago, which just leans against the wall, and have been looking for a way to make a very basic counterbalanced model, but I work in large format so this is perfect. Thank you.

I have had several people follow my video and make their own, one nearly identical in size. I really believe just watching the video you will figure it out. Apart from purchasing several true 2x 2.5ers for the frame, the steel L-track, pullys, coasters and fancy brass screws, I made mine with mostly scrape wood and some rope layin' around. I actually wish now I had made it a third smaller as I could still paint my biggest paintings but the easel would take up a bit less space.

Do you have more information about rigging the counterweight set up? I have to admit I only just now learned about it and I can't puzzle out where the pulleys go or how the rope winds through

I am sure this design works great for you. Most people like to have a center mast, with a lock stop on the top which goes up and down with the shelf, which is the hardest part of making an adjustable easel.
