If you want to learn ASAP, and if you’re on a tight budget, then the Impulse 300 is for you because of it’s beginner friendly and centric features

I am a DJ for about 12 years, and i have to Say that the S2 MK3 is my fav controller, the layout is easy, Traktor dj software is easy to learn And very intuitive, now i am using a S4 MK2 And i am loving it! Traktor fanboy right here

I just got the DDJ 400. My first controller and I little overwhelming until I just sit down and start figuring out. I picked this over the SB3 solely because of not having to unlock any software. So far, so good. Carlo you are really helping me out figuring all this stuff out. Hard enough to get a technique let alone figuring out the software but you've helped a lot. Keep it up brother.

I bought the DDJ-SB3 and haven't looked back. I like Serato a lot and don't want to switch. I don't plan on DJing in a club ever and don't need to be familiar with RekordBox DJ. If I did, perhaps I would have chosen the DDJ-400. The most I plan on doing is company, family, friends' parties and DJing in my living room at home. The SB3 is a great controller with a ton of cool features. The "DJ Jazzy Jeff buttons" are cool and give you something to strive for in terms of your scratching ability. They are good examples of some starter scratches that you can try to emulate and mix into songs with the buttons. I love it and am glad I made the choice I did!

My favorite is the DDJ 400 because for a beginner DJ like myself, not having to pay extra for an upgraded program is perfect. Not only that but it mimics CDJ's which is definitely a plus because I hope to play in clubs one day

I have only been DJing for 3 years so I am considered young in the House scene. I went from a Pioneer WeGO to now the DDJ 400. I like because it allows me to play with CDJs and a mixer. The features are close and the DJ software comes free. Let me say it again. The Rekordbox DJ software comes fully license. Unlike the DDJ -SB3 with only Serato Lite. You will have to pay more for Serato Pro. That money can be used to build your library. Since I am a House DJ, I don't need all the FX to play my tracks. I love the fact all my cues and memories on each track is saved. I can export it to a flash drive, go to a gig, plug it on the CDJ, pull my playlist, link it and I am ready to rock the crowd. For the price $250 USD, You can't beat it. If this controller came out 3 years, I would be far ahead of the curve. I simply love it.

I simply agree! I am a beginner DJ and I have the DDJ 400. Works perfectly and very user friendly. I have yet to try using my usb to a CDJ, but planning to in the near future.

Long time supporter here! I'm a huge fan of the DDJ-SB series. It was the first ever controller I purchased, been using the first DDJ-SB since 2014 and using it 'til now! Its very durable and reliable. For me, its a good practice controller, it helped me transition into the CDJs. Overall, would recommend the DDJ-SB controllers. (love the pioneer shirt Carlo! hehe)

For me i love and i choose the ddj 400 because, i see my self playing into the crowd of people who wants to party and to enjoy. And i'm so amaze that rekorbox dj has a features of putting your cue points into a cdj, and as a beginner dj i want to practice more on how to play in festivals and clubs so that i can gain more knowledge about it and to gain more self confidence. I enjoyed the DDJ RB and was contemplating getting the DDJ 400..... I decided to go with he S4 MK3 because of the features. I had to get learn Traktor but love it. I still miss Rekordbox but happy with my decision. S2 for me.

Love the DDJ SB3 and how it is able to work well with other DJ softwares like Djay Pro 2! Up until Serato got Tidal I would use Djay Pro 2 for bigger parties because the Spotify access was great, so to seamlessly use 2 different softwares on one controller was awesome

I can't speak highly enough of the DDJ 400! I purchased mine about a month ago after taking a hiatus from DJing for 2 years. I had a NXS2 system and honestly, you get so much comparable usability with the DDJ 400. Using more than 1 effect at a time? I do miss Color FX + Beat FX but honestly it handles so well. The pads to use for effects handle this pretty well. My only regret is the knob sizes, but at a budget price and size there's not much else that can be done. It's tough going from nice thicker knobs to the tiny ones, they just are not satisfying. Overall though for all the controllers I've tried, this one at $240 for me is a 10/10

I love the Traktor S2 mk3!❤️❤️ Hi by the way, I’ve been djing since I was 13 years old hehe and I’m 16 years old right now. But I still dont own any dj controllers hahaha but I’ve already tried to use traktor s4 mk2. I love the traktor software, and the knobs for slip mode is totally sick! Also The DDJ-SB3 I heard a lot DJs that its there go to controller when they use the Pro Version on there set and you are right about when you can only use so much on lite. I’m a Pioneer fan ! I love the SB2 I fell i love with the 3 abs the 400 I’m already run Serato DJ pro I also play with recordbox DJ as well But so my favorite is the sb line I can use both and I like the midi map setting to access features or move things around. I have tractor as well and I can map any of these to work. But the sb3 takes the cake here i have light as well because it came with the setup.

I learned a lot from your tutorials! 👍🏼♥️ Btw, I used to have the Inpulse controller from Hercules DJ using only iPad and Algoriddim Djay Pro AI which is an amazing setup in terms of portability but I have to switch to Traktor Pro 3 because I now use Mixed In Key to prepare my tracks so I ended up with the Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3.

My fav controller would be the impulse 300. Reason is because it is the most affordable, it comes with the full license software, and it's packed w features. N it makes it unique for beginner DJs. Definitely the best of all.

My favourite DJ controller is Pioneer DDJ-400 because It’s got two jogwheels, looping controls like those found on a CDJ-2000NXS2 media player, three-band EQs and a filter per channel, eight performance pads and a separate panel for Beat FX. The jog wheel on it is very responsible and it is fun to scratch. Talking about the loop the button on it is same like CDJ models by pioneer. Also it has a a button which doubles as a four-beat auto loop button, a Loop Out button, a reloop / exit button. Lastly, the DDJ-400 has got a full complement of contemporary digital DJ controls and performance features found on more expensive gear, plus the design of the controller is very unique.

I already owned a controller "Numark mixtrack pro 3" but I am not quite satisfied with the structure and also there are many features that haven't included I think. 😭😭😭 because whenever I see your tutorial you use so much of buttons and techniques that are not present on my controller and I wish I had purchased one of the similar controllers that you use in your tutorials but now I can't go back😂😂😂.. but still I am glad that this month I could perform in my college with my numark controller and all because of your tutorials. I would go for the DDJ400 of Pioneer DJ. I choose this controller because it's layout is emulated to the CDJ2000 NXS and DJM NXS Mixer which makes you familiarize with the said Club Standard Equipment. Another good thing with getting the DDJ400 is that it comes with a free Full License Rekordbox DJ software so you don't have to spend more money to buy a DJ software. Lastly, for the price; it's pretty much a very good deal.

Serato DJ lite is great but god damnit putting the Key analysis/sort by feature behind the pro paywall is an absolute slap in the face to beginners, if I didn't already have my S2 MK2 the SB3 in tandem with Traktor Pro 3 would be my next choice in a heartbeat

Also on that traktor S2! Don't discount the fact that it will soon be able to be used with the upcoming traktor dj 2 app! According to native instruments, the app will be included with purchases. Not having to use a laptop might be a killer feature (at the very least a good backup) for many DJs.

In my opinion the Pioneer DDJ 1000 is the best controller on the market! I use it everyday and there are so much opinions you can use. So I love the DDJ 1000 and the rekordbox software!

All 4 contolers are good for beginners, i use pioneer d dj-t1 for a long time and it is one of the best 4 deck contolers out there. But dj SB3 gives a really good balance for beginners. Great job !!!

Right on Carlo! Thanks for the great video! Is there a controller with effects assignable to the mic close to this price point? Or is there a controller you could review with mic effects? I have not found a cheap controller with mic effects. I am currently running record box DDJRB with the Pioneer XP2. I sure hope they release a version where you can toggle you're hold effects from the slide effects to the pad effects. Seems odd they didn't put a hold button for the 16 pad effects.

I own a ddj rb before i just have it for 3 months when the ddj 400 came out i try all the software from traktor to serato and rekordbox and for me rekordbox is the way to go as you get a full version with the hardware. So sell my rb and get the 400 and i love it because of the club standard lay out and since i cannot afford the ddj 1000 its a good alternative to it, i add a ddj xp1 and boom i can do a lot with my hardware and with rekordbox software you cant go wrong. Its a no brainer to have rekordbox if you want to play in big events with pioneer cdj set ups.

I use the ddj400 when I don't use my turntable mixer. It is really cool and the weight of the jogs is perfect. I like it better than the sb3. Light weight and combine with a xp01 and You have a perfect performance combo that you can have endless fun. Add a Cdj 850 and you are set. :)

I like the SB3 the best. Currently using the SB3 I love the simplicity and quick effects. Works well for me.

I cant believe that the DDJ-400 is just $240. I bought my DDJ-400 for over 500pesos here in the Philippines but still worth it because the features of the software is great and efficient but the only disadvantages of it is that the effects only works once on each deck. Great video bro! 🙌👍

Gotta go with the ddj 400 here. Rekordbox has come a long way and the 400 has a lot of great features. Nice review of all 4 regardless of which one you choose!

Good video, you forgot to mention that the SB3 has four deck control. I went from the SB1 to the RB and now the RR and it is a big difference. Beginner controllers are great to start with, but if you know you want to DJ. Borrow or rent some controllers and download the free trial and try all the software's that way and then pick one.

Hi, just found your channel and find it very useful, nice work! I owned a pair of Technics SL1210's before, never owned CDJ's. Like to pickup the hobby again, but torn between the DDj-400 and S2 MK3. Mostly mix tech-house/techno music. Like the layout of the S2 better, but the DDJ seems to have more functions that work plug and play with Rekordbox. I heard the S2 has better sound quality tho, which one you think I should buy? ;) Thanks!

Entry level controllers have no "cue split" function In my opinion cue split is an essential function in entry level controllers. So you can practice studying and practice beat matcing at home without disturbing others at any time of the day. I hope the next entrey level controllers will add this function

Honestly I went from turntables to cd mixer .. and now I’m thinking about this controller for my son... and the Hercules seems like it would have the best training wheels then move onto the DDJ-SB3 because of its promotion to improve..

Hey brother I love your advice and mixed, I've just got a question, ive got a numarkmt3 and I'm ready to upgrade but need your help, I want to pick out of a ddj400 and ddj1000? What would you prefer? Do you think I should go to a 400? But I'm only afraid that it may be same as numark mt3 so was thinking maybe the 1000. But i would like your help to know which would be best for me. i used to dj on sl 1200"s years ago. bought a generic controller from China,to start the digital era for me.using a used numark n4,its ok with serato intro. but the newer ones are better even if not as much features. but it is time to look at something newer,and with a full dj package,that would be great. i play in my garage and its fun and did a few small gigs here and there. but for me,difficult to say,ddj 400 or sb3, sbj 3 more club set up??? but ddj 400 i think is better with the full record box.id say ..........ddj 400. now to find one to mess about to see how it performs. like the channel a lot and the tips/tutorials and reviews. peace.

I have always been a fan of RekordBox so DDJ-400 takes it for me, even for beginners! I am also a fan of the RB2 since i started on it.

I personally really the pioneer sb3 because of all the features I could get with the Serato pro. I'd just have to get used to Serato, cuz right now I'm using pioneer t1 with Traktor. And just ordered Rane 72 and 12s. Super excited

I went with the DDJ 400 over the SB3 so that I wouldn’t have to pay to upgrade to a more advanced DJ software later on down the line. Rekordbox IS a bit confusing as a beginner, but I’m taking it one day at a time and doing my best to have fun with it.
