Hey Ariel, Sometimes that will load a track from my prepare crate before it makes the instant double. Not a big deal, but sometimes it will mess up my flow. Thanks for the response!

All these new DJ's don't seem to like the fader headphone cue. I hated when they changed it to a button. The old school Gemini mixers, it was a easy slider. Want to mix the two sides, put it in the middle or so. Ive had to adjust with this change. Great video. Im getting the 72 next week. Thanks.

I think I am the only person who has ever liked the slide cue on the s9. It works as a volume control. To me it's better than the "all or nothing" you get with the button cues. But I'm clearly alone in this thinking. Great thorough review.

I completely agree! Being able to slide from deck 1 to deck 2 incrementally makes complete sense if you like to control the blend cueing of a mix. When selecting both decks fully on it's no use at all IMO. Being able to set the volume of each deck in the headphones provides complete flexibility.

Great info! I am ordering the 72 after have the s9 for about 2 years now. The transport controls are what sold it for me. It will make it some much easier to do smaller events without me having to buy a small controller. Also the two mic inputs are a huge win!

Firmware update gives Post Fader effect on Serato DJ

Innofader are in the final stages of production for a 72 swap in crossfader, they (Patrick) reckon it'll be available end August 2019. It is a full not mini Innofader and should have the light feel of the S9. I am crazy excited. Something I didn't see on the review is sound quality - the sound quality of the 72 is insanely good, because it uses the MP2015 audio circuitry, I've honestly never heard anything like it including on audiophile separates - this was the clincher for me. But as clear in the video even though Serato FX are now post-fader the UI is much worse than the S9.

For instance doubles on the 72 you can double press the scroll button and it will give you doubles of the track and on point.

Right, but it also loads whatever track you have selected right before it creates the instant double which can mess up my prepare crates. A dedicated button would be nice.

Best comparison I've seen. You really break down the pros of each. Question for you, I am pretty much sold on getting the phase DVS system. That being said, I noticed that we do not have the ability to needle search through a record when using phase, do you understand the ability to do such with the touch screen control on the rane? Give me your opinion plz

I have phase, I used it for 2 weeks and havent plugged it in again. I have 4 Rane 12s. imo if you can afford the Ranes then they are the best choice. Phase is a good alternative while you save for the Ranes.

To apply post faders effects just hold down the platters when ready for that effect same rule goes to the ddjsz the 1 version.Let me known how it goes. Rane mixer 72 overall wins for me.

Great video, perfect summary. The S9 was pretty much bred for battling while the 72 seems like a 2 channel club mixer that can do it all. Overall, I prefer the simpler overall look of the S9. However, I do agree that the cuing system would be better served with buttons instead of a fader.

Great video, How do you like the Rane Twelve vs a regular TT? What are your thoughts on the Phase DVS system? Can you use the Rane 72 and Twelves with other DJ software ie.. virtual DJ, DJay Pro 2, Traktor etc?

Hey! The Rane 12s are my favorite piece of gear right now. They don't feel exactly like turntables, but I actually like them better. Having the option to have "acrylic vinyl" is great for marketing too. After a short search, I haven't found any direct compatibility with any other software. I haven't tried phase yet, but I would love to add them to my practice setup so I can save my precious Shure needle. I would imagine I will like the twelves better anyways... but you never know. When I’m on live set I feel the crowd and I like to go back to my cue points and loop it, what’s the work around on Rane 72 there has to be a one stop shop to trigger this just like NS7-2, function 2 on Cue will trigger any set cue to loop I can’t imagine this very expensive Rane72 can’t do this basic function like cheap controllers like the Numark NS7-2. Or anybody know if there’s a Serato hot key on keyboard to do this?

You can set up saved loops within Serato and access them through the manual loop bank of the cue point area.

Hate that I can only use one fx on my s9. If I wanna he echo and fader it instantly stops it. Only thing I don’t like. Other than that I love my s9 but I really wanna use the rane72 I might get it and transport mode is a dope feature

@@djAXCESSmusic well its up to you, would your audience like it? I haven't seen anyone do it? I would like both these lol but couldn't wait for 72 also I don't like waiting for things that might happen like post fader effects....but the biggest two reasons I went for s9 is dedicated loop section and while you like the two mics on 72, for me THE factor that made it was audio in, because I've got decks and two mpcs hooked up to s9 with rane that wouldnt be possible...so ...still like 72 though.

At the end I dont really get why you prefer the 72 over the s9... "the s9 has a better crossfader AND better effects" but you still prefer the 72?

I weight different categories differently. Honestly, after the firmware updates, I prefer the 72 and it's not even close. Also, I used the S9 to perform for the first time in a while and I should have stressed how poor a job they did with how to cue your headphones.

The fact that the S9 only has one microphone input is a major flaw in my opinion.
