My favorite DLC 200cc shortcut to conquer in MK8 Deluxe is obviously the double gap jump shortcut on DK Summit! Glad to witness Troy demonstrating how BUSTED that shortcut remains in the track’s return to its glory from Wii to Switch in the blink of an eye!
The original shortcut video you did on this game helped me out so much, so now with the DLC tracks having more fun shortcuts, I’m sure I’ll be keeping this video in my brain for a long time.
It feels like we're truly in a shortcut renaissance right now in this game. So many intentional and unintentional shortcuts in these new courses, I can't wait to see what future shortcuts there are and how Nintendo changes past courses to give us more options.
Troy, I’m loving the mk8 content lately! I love your MkWii vids too, but i’m a much more avid mk8 player and it’s so nice to see my favorite game being represented more on your channel! keep it up!
2:14 a much more reliable option here, especially in online play is to simply just use a green shell, I never see people do it or talk about it so thought I should leave that here
Another thing for Snow Land and Mushroom Gorge: the Snow Land shortcut can be done shroomless. The geometry is a bit precise, but release a super or ultra mini turbo to the left of the snowman before the off-road, then hop twice in the off-road. For mushroom gorge, the starting shortcut can be done shroomless with super bouncing the second mushroom, but you miss a box. I also don’t think it’s worth doing a super bounce or a trick for the mushroom after the bridge. Instead, I prefer to trick off the ramp, start a mini turbo, release it in mid-air, then drift again for another blue mini turbo. Alternatively, you could do the railing, but it’s precise (I say as if the shroomless Snow Land isn’t lol)
Hey man, great video! If i can suggest, i'd change the name of the video to "150 and 200cc shortcuts", because i almost didn't watch the video (since i don't play 200cc usually with friends)...but many of these shortcuts are also viable for 150cc like you said!
The Amsterdam bridge cut. That’s the first shortcut that I found by myself without looking anything up. It shocked me how much you can cut with just one mushroom
I don’t know if this is a valid shortcut on 200cc because I haven’t seen anyone else do it, but feel free to try it. On Waluigi Stadium, take the half pipe at the end of the track to the platform with the glider ramp. Get a mini turbo of some kind and when you reach the glider, release the turbo and hop over the glider ramp (make sure you don’t touch the blue part). The glider will still come out the kart and you’ll notice you’re at a lower height now. Angle the kart down just hard enough to trick off the ramp below where the spinning fireballs are. Pull up after the trick (making sure to avoid the fire) and you’ll get serious height, taking you over the starting line sign and just far enough to trick off the first mud pile. I’ve been trying to see if this is faster but if not, still super fun.
DK Summit double cap is taking a while for me to master. In Mario Kart Wii I always used an inside drift bike when doing the double gap cut. In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe the "inside drift" or hybrid drifting is just not ideal for me.
I wish there was a mode where there was ramps placed and invisible walls removed so you can do extremely big shortcuts that wouldn't be possible normally
I have been wondering about that patch on waluigi stadium since the DLC dropped. I hope that an easily set up is found to drive straight across that diagonal piece of wall to avoid using a mushroom in the mud patch
7:04 not faster (for current knowledge) You can’t get a drift afterwards, you lose time in the air and setting it up, allignment for shroom is hard. You’d probably need to land on the boost panel too for it to save so it gets even harder
Hi TWD98! I have a good video idea for you! How about: “Can I beat every world record in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?” Hope you reply back! Also, thank you for inspiring my brother to play more Mario Kart!😊
I have cut the mushroom gorge gap really far to the left. I went over the rail, past the finish line and, landed on the track. Still not my best lap though.
There is a strange line i found on waluigi stadium 200cc where you can take the inside of the corner at the end of the halfpipe and land on the ramp to hit the boost panel. Is it faster... who knows?
