Most of new released MacBook Pro or MacBook Air and Most PC laptops had been upgraded the I/O to Thunderbolt 4 from Thunderbolt 3.
The best docking station or hubs for Thunderbolt 4 should be: (we had tested all of them): All of them are backward compatible with MacBook Pro with TB3 ports or PC with TB3 ports.

In the last 3 months, we had been tested more than 10 Thunderbolt 3 or Type-C docking stations to test how they work with KVM switches.
Different laptops and computer systems are tested in the pool.

Many users reported to me that this kind of DP KVM switches are what they had been looking for. For years, in the market , there are only few makers produce DP KVM switches. All of their KVM switch are only for DisplayPort 1.2 and DOES NOT provide "Full-time EDID feeding" to all connected DP systems or laptops. As the results, the switching time of those switch NOT ONLY very slow and long (taking 8~10 sec. to switch between different systems') , BUT ALSO will RE-arrange you r windows or icons showed on the video of your OSs. It is very command issue found. And they sometimes still call their switches " The Legendary KVM". or "not a perfect but the best KVM switch". This video just showed you that the true legendary KVM switch should be have the fast switching time 1 sec vs 9 sec (of others;) and no latency switching time in USB HID devices. Yes, the "Phantom signal " of keeping all connected systems' LINK TRIAN EDID communication is possible without special IC chips for IC design houses. We welcome those traditional KVM switch makers to contact us and have a head-on side-by-side test and proof

My xps 17 2020 laptop doesn’t shutdown completely whenever I connect the laptop to the dock . The shut down function works well if do not connect to the dock. Does anyone knows how resolve this shut down issue ? I have to press the power button for 10 Sec to force shut down the laptop once I connect it to this dock.

Hi, kindly make a detailed video on what products you used and how you did the connections? As what I can see is two pc setup but connected. Abd one query from me. If we want to add a nas or custom server for accessing all files...what is best available option in budget and how to connect it with this kinda setup. I am a video editor. And I fall short of storage pretty often. Please help. I am from India. I have dell xps L501x and a windows10 desktop pc.

If you want to do dual DisplayPort monitors sharing, then a dual DP docking station (Dell D6000 dock) is recommended for your dell xps laptop. And if your windows 10 desktop pc has two DisplayPort video output connections, you should be OK to use DP-DP cables between your desktop PC and KVM switch. As I said, if your laptop does not have Thunderbolt but type-C (USB 3.1 Gen2) then Dell D6000 docking station is good for you. The docking station has dual connectors (it has both type-C and USB-A) to the Laptop.

All the version released had been working well with CalDigit TS3+ docking station and CalDigit TB4 docks. If you have old CalDigit TS3+ dock, you need to upgrade the firmware for the dock and you MacOS to 13.3 + version,

I can't find the USB-C to DP cable you used anywhere (CAC-1557). Is there another you recommend? I bought an adapter and it doesn't work correctly.

I don't know why the Amazon link of CAC-1557 , the product, had been in back order since we recommended it two weeks ago. I think it must be sold out already. I will check with the maker to see what's their next production batch can be delivered. Yes, you're right we tested many USB-C to DP cables and adapters from different sources and found this one (CAC-1557) is the most reliable one.

The same setup profile will also work with the new MBP M1, M1Pro or M1 Max. However, for M1, only one external monitor is allowed via its native I/O. For dual video outputs for M1, you need add a DisplayLink based converter/adapter/docking station.

The best dock for Dell XPS 13 to provide DisplayPort outputs is Dell D6000 (after we tested more than 20 docking stations since 2019).

Since new MBP or most of new laptop released recently are equiped with TB4 ports instead of TB3 ports, so the best docking stations had been upgraded to TB4 version of CalDigit or the newest TB4 docking station from Dell WD22TB4 with some type-C-to-DP active converter cables.
