Everyone's pool is different. With so many robots to choose from, it can be hard finding the best Dolphin for your pool. Maytronics builds some of the most reliable robots I have ever tested, so I wanted to share my findings on which robot you will want to look to buy for your pool.
Make sure to take a look at my Top 5 Robotic Pool Cleaner video for 2023 and also watch all my individual reviews on each of these cleaners and more!
Where to Buy:
Dolphin Premier - amzn.to/3i4IcCk
Dolphin Sigma - amzn.to/3q56mky
Dolphin Quantum - amzn.to/3COWOPN
Dolphin Cayman - amzn.to/3EX95Ee
Dolphin Escape - amzn.to/3ufjmFu
Let a robotic pool cleaner take over your pool maintenance. With programmable weekly timers and powerful cleaning abilities, a robotic pool cleaner can help keep your pool clean and healthy.
Looking for the best pool robot for your pool? Look no further. In this in-depth review, we break down the top choices. Whether you have an in-ground or above ground pool or struggle with leaves and algae, there is a pool robot for you. So here are our top choices for a robotic pool cleaner:
Struggle with algae and leaves? The Dolphin Premier the pool robot for you, as it is Dolphin's only robot with a leaf bag - making it the best cleaner for leaves and debris. With 3 filter options included and dual commercial grade motors, it can clear up cloudy pool water and any types of algae, leaves, or debris you throw at it.
Dolphin Premier - amzn.to/3i4IcCk
Want the most powerful and advanced robot? The Dolphin Sigma is the only Dolphin on my list with the myDolphin Plus app. The Sigma has advanced features on its app, not found on all other robots, such as the ability to manually control, advanced scheduling, and even has a cleaning history with stats such as gallons filtered, energy saved, and more. With its triple commercial grade motors, gyroscope, and more, the Dolphin Sigma is right at the top of my list.
Dolphin Sigma - amzn.to/3q56mky
The Quantum is a great alternative to my top two picks. It has all the features you need in a pool robot, such as waterline cleaning, two filter options (includes Ultra-Fine Filter Basket), and a programmable timer. It is a fantastic cleaner and one of the best on the market today.
Dolphin Quantum - amzn.to/3COWOPN
The Cayman is my top pick for a cleaner if you're on a budget. With a programmable timer, wall climbing, and a oversized filter basket, the Cayman is one of the best values there is - not to mention it's two year warranty.
Dolphin Cayman - amzn.to/3EX95Ee
The Dolphin Escape is the best robot for above ground pools. This entry level cleaner from Maytronics is fantastic. It can handle small in-ground pools as well. With dual motors, HyperGrip Tracks, and an oversized filter basket, it gets the job done with power and precision.
Dolphin Escape - amzn.to/3ufjmFu

I have the Dolphin Proteus DX5i and it does a great job. Does not have a leaf bag but our pool has a screen enclosure. We don’t have a leaf problem. We have a waterfall that is just 6 or so inches above the waterline so I only use it in manual operation to avoid the waterfall. That may be the best feature, love controlling it with my iPad from the comfort of a patio chair.

Hi there, we have a free-form fiberglass pool (leisure eclipes 35)with a 3" ledge around the pool roughly 15" down from water level. Can you please recommend which dolphin model would work best for this pool thanks.

E30, Quantum or Caymen? Pool is around 32 FT and budget is supposed to be 1k. We would get the Quantum but cant find it anywhere for less then 1.1k before taxes/ship etc.

I’d honestly go with the Cayman and add a NanoFilter! It’s definitely one of the best values there is! Cayman: www.poolbots.com/dolphin-cayman-pool-cleaner NanoFilter: www.poolbots.com/accessories/filters/dolphin-cayman-nanofilters

Does it work good on cement pools? If we have a ledge in the pool will it still go all the way to the top or will it think the ledge is the top?

Thx for responding.intex has the drain plug.will the cayman have any trouble with running over those? Why is the cayman the unit you choose on vinyl?

You shouldn’t have any issues at all! It’s just a fantastic value for your pool. With wall climbing, top loading filter, and a programmable timer, it’s really hard to beat! If it does get stuck on the drain, get a main drain clip on. Pretty cheap and super easy solution! It’s helped on quite a few of the robots I’ve tested across various brands.

@ThePoolNerd

For inground, my pick would be the Dolphin Cayman! It’s absolutely fantastic with the weekly timer and wall climbing ability! It’s definitely Dolphin’s best value cleaner they have!

I have a Dolphin M400 that just yesterday stopped moving. (Motor runs, water is being discharged, but the treads don't move). So, while I wait to find out what the repair costs on it are, I'm looking at what my options for a new robot might be. I should mention at this point that our pool has those safety drains in the floor (two of them). I had a Dolphin DX4 (?) that would constantly get "high centered" on a drain and simply spin around for minutes before it finally broke loose. I never had that problem with the M400 because of its three brushes, but am wondering if any of the newer Dolphins would be "immune" from getting "stuck" on the drains? While I like my M400, it's a heavy unit to lift out of the pool...and it really doesn't have any of the "smarts" the newer models like the Sigma have. In your opinion, would I be safe to go with the Sigma, or would I have to watch it spin around on the floor drain like my DX4 used to do?
@ThePoolNerd
@ThePoolNerd Год назад
Hi Mike, I’d definitely go with the Sigma. It does have the advanced Smart Nav 3.0. It does have the longer 3 year warranty as well as the commercial grade triple motors. It shouldn’t get stuck, but if it does, you can have Maytronics install a 3rd center brush on the bottom for free. Another solution is a main drain clip on: www.maindrainclipon.com I added one to my pool. It’s a cheap and easy item to add, which helps all robots not get stuck.

Is the Dolphin Premier safe for above ground vinyl pools? Will it damage the vinyl at the water line, or anywhere? Thank you

It’s completely safe for all types of pool including vinyl pools! We actually have a vinyl liner and use it in our pool!

Dear Sir, I bought CC plus but it blows up the mud from the bottom of the pool and makes the pool even more dirty, should it be like this? Your video shows a clean swimming pool, but how do you solve the problem of mud blowing out from the propeller above? Thank you very much!
@ThePoolNerd
@ThePoolNerd Год назад
You need a unit with an Ultra-Fine filter, such as the Quantum or Premier! These filters are included with these units (they are not with the CC Plus). By having this filter option, you’ll be able to capture these particles that otherwise would pass through the standard filters! Not only will you get the filters, but also the other units also have waterline cleaning and other features that improve cleaning performance!

I had a Tiger Shark for 12 years and was very happy with it. My only complaint with the Tiger Shark was the weight. My pool is 20 x 40, has a steep incline in the deep end and a safety ledge that goes all around the the pool. Tiger shark had no problem climbing this or going over the safety ledge, which is like a step. Does the Dolphin premier have trouble climbing steps or handling the steep incline?
@ThePoolNerd
@ThePoolNerd Год назад
No, it won’t have any issues as it has SmartNav 2.0 tech that helps it avoid obstacles! It’s super neat and really helps the unit clean better than other pool robots.

@@ThePoolNerd I'm a little confused by your answer. I need it to be able to go over that safety ledge to be able to clean the 3 feet of wall above the ledge and the water line. Will it consider the ledge an obstacle?

Will any of the robots clean a shallow “tanning bed” area of the pool (which is 10” - 12” deep) along with waterline cleaning? The only one I’ve found so far that mentions shallow cleaning is the dolphin W20 (min 8” depth) but doesn’t do waterline.
@philw9120
@philw9120 Год назад
I would like to know this as well. Half my pool has a shallow bench that is exactly 8 inches deep, and the only search results I get as well is the W20.

Tanning: 18 to 24: May I see an ID? 24 to 26: You're old enough. 27 to 30: You look great for 40! 31 to 33: Senior Discount! 34 to 40: Fighting Melanoma. 41 to 44: Remission 45: Hospice Don't tan... I'm 42 and I still get checked for ID when buying (very occasioal) beverages. Why? I never tanned. My mom and aunt both moved on, in their late 40s and they looked like they were 70...
