If you're just getting started with filmmaking or would like to know more about it, this tutorial will teach you the basics of your camera's settings, and what the most common ones are for a cinematic look. These settings work on more than just DSLR cameras, and will work on phones, and mirrorless - so long as they have the available adjustment settings. This is the most succint video I've seen regarding this, particularly because you explain how to change the shutter speed in video mode. I was changing to manual picture mode thinking it changed the shutter speed across the board, then switching back. Thanks for explaining!

One more tip: do NOT use the lowest aperture setting (e.g. 1.8 on Canon EF 50mm 1.8 STM lens) because it will most likely be blurry. You will get a much sharper image by dialling it up a couple of notches (e.g. to 2.2 on the aforementioned lens). The background will be basically just as blurry but the subject will be much sharper.
