After sighting in at 60 feet, I could easily cover 5 shots with a nickel ru-vid.comUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL ! Truly a pleasure to shoot! Scope was easy to adjust for eye relief. Only problem the varmints must have seen it delivered lol!Update: So impressed with shot groups at 30 yards I purchased a Hammers 3×9 with adjustable Objective scope! Now a true nail driver!
I would rather buy a more expensive pump instead of a cheap semiauto. I absolutely love my supernova. I'll be shooting it until I have $1000 to drop on a decent semiauto. I would say to shoot a pump until you save up enough to buy a more expensive semi auto that will last forever.
BobbyGuyFilms franchi makes some awesome guns! I just believe that a semiauto is something you don't want to go cheap on. When I say cheap I'm taking under $600
I’ve been shooting a semi-auto for a lot of years now. When i was younger my dad bought me an 870 for Christmas, I think I was about 8 or so. I used it for a few years and it was a heck of a gun. I was so hard on that gun. By the time I put her up for the last time all the finish was off the wood from all the years of using it as a paddle and dropping it in the mud and everything else. Then I saved up and bought an automatic when I was about 15 and that’s all I’ve duck hunted with since. First one I bought was Winchester sx3. Heck of a gun. It is has operated where most of the top end semi-autos are inertia operated like your Benelli’s, Franchii’s and the browning A5. But honestly I prefer gas operated. To me they’ve been more reliable. Some high Enders are gas operatedlike berettas and the browning maxus so you can have either one. Just a preference. The Winchester is not a cheap gun either tho. They run about $1000. My new baby that I just bought for the upcoming duck season is the new Winchester Sx4. It’s Winchester’s new and improved semi-auto scatter gun. They still make the sx3 so I was on fence about which to get but decided to go with the new model. So far just shooting skeet and patterning my steel chokes I’ve loved it. No issues. Hopefully same goes when I get it into the backwaters and swamps and sloughs here in a couple weeks.
When I first started I used a Remington 870, it worked great up until we got stuck in a random snow storm and every thing literally froze shut and the action was hard to do hunting that day. After that I bought a Remington Versa Max Sportsman and that think has been a real work horse. I cant even make it jam no matter what I do. I have a video on my page of me using it and hopefully it'll continue to last for years to come
Had my Franchi Affinity about 4 or so years now. Cleaned it only one time(seriously. I want to shoot it til it jams) It's shot thousands of rounds without a problem. Works great as a walking stick and it also doubles as a skiff paddle. Shoulda named it the Franchi Insanity. 10/10
You prolly dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream all of the new movies on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend recently xD
I got my Remington 870 a year ago and have out about 1500 between hunting and trap shooting and still working likes it's brand new but I clean it Everytime even if it is a box
I ordered me a Girsan MC312, about 450 bucks out the door, the reviews on it are really good, pretty much a benelli m2 clone. Anyone of you heard anything about it? I never been hunting before, don't know if I'll like it, so decided not to fork out a bunch of money on a shotgun.
I too have a Franchi Affinity Black, but mine is a LH model as I am left eye dominant even though I am a RH person. I started waterfowl hunting in 2014, but didn't have my own actual WATERFOWL type shotgun (my dad has plenty of shotguns, but mostly turkey ones, single shots, or old pumps with full choked barrels) and I didn't want to use my buddy's Winchester SX3 again. So in the spring of 2015 I was looking for an under $1,000 semi auto that had a LH model available mostly for the placement of the safety and not where the action is. I did tons of research and saw that Franchi was coming out with a LH model in their Affinity line so I had to get it. Like you I have not regretted it one bit, I have shot close to 1,000 rounds through it from low brass 7.5 target loads up to the fastest goose/duck loads, and even some 2oz turkey loads through it without one failure to fire or cycle. As you know it's light enough to carry with you all day and swings very easily and nicely. My brother has shot more rounds through his with the same success. I would recommend that shotgun to anyone. I know it is a cousin to the Benellis and Berettas and the quality for the price absolutely shines through.
Yes they are and luckily at the time I worked at Cabela's for 8 years so I got a great discount on it putting it in the mid 600s and put it on layaway so it wasn't a big chunk of change at once. No need to spend the extra $100 on the camo either. I have shot Canadas, ducks, pheasants, but sadly haven't taken a turkey yet with it. I like the jelly head choke from Primos for that, and I have a patternmaster for waterfowl. It's been awhile since I patterned it, but Hevi-Metal patterned well. I am going to have to redo some patterns and log it with pics and stats or do you think keeping track of patterns for different brand shells is that important?
I agree, Price doesn’t always speak to quality. Iva always been a Mossberg Guy, but I have had many Remingtons and they were all garbage. With the exception of the remys from the 70’s and 80’s the newer products are all junks. In my experience. Now I’m a Stoeger and Mossberg Guy.
Remington 1187 has been the best gun for me for deer, turkey, Fox, coyote, ducks, geese, squirrels, rabbits etc. Over 10 years with it and probably around 100,000 rounds with it it has not jammed once and is very low maintenance and easy to clean. It’s about 700$ but is worth every penny.
I have a Charles Daly shotgun made in Turkey. Turkish guns are fantastic, they make some quality weapons. I have put thousands of rounds through it and it’s still going.
I just put down my Mossberg 835 ultimag this year that I've had for 17 years. Only had one issue in 17 years and that was shooting Clay's on a somewhat windy day near some sand dunes and it finally got enough sand in it that it would cycle shells. Cleaned it and all was good and that gun has been through hell and back. It still has no issues but I decided this year I wanted an auto loader but couldn't justify the price of a Benelli so I went with the franchi Intensity. Going on the first duck hunt tomorrow morning with it. So far it seems to be an awesome gun
I have a Franchi Intensity and love it. The only reason why I got the Intensity over the Affinity is because I have a few friends that shoot 3 1/2. I like to shoot 3's or 2 3/4, but if for some reason I run out of boxes, I am capable of using what ever my friends are using. There is nothing wrong with the Affinity, but damn they are nice guns for under $1,000. I use and ABUSE my gun and she takes it and keeps going. I have yet had a misfire or any type of hang up. Do not get me wrong I do like my mossberg 930 hunting shotgun, but It seems that when I grab a shotgun outta the safe its been the Franchi.
I picked up the new affinity 3 satin walnut for this past pheasant and duck season. used it every trip and ran probably 1000 rounds of 3 inch steel and 2 3/4 pheasant loads through it all together and it has never misfired once. Only problem i had was a bad detent spring that caused the charging handle to fly out. Sent it in to the manufacture and they fixed it no charge under the warranty. Great gun for the price, wouldn't recommend the walnut for waterfowl tho
I have a TriStar Raptor 20ga with 24inch barrel and I love it. It has not jammed on me or misfire not one single time. I have killed deer and hog with it also. I love it. I also have a TriStar Viper G2 Pro 12ga and absoluty love that gun also.
Bought a top end Franchi and a rod in the ejection system broke. Had a 7 year warranty on it which my gun was covered under, but the model was discontinued. So no parts were available for the gun. Best advice I ever received was from a gunsmith who said buy a gun from Browning or Winchester which are made in Japan. Highest manufacturing standards in the world. He also said buy a gun which is made in a series of guns (SBE, SX.) Best advice I've ever received. Most of those types of guns have replacement parts readily available and the companies are willing to replace if broken in the field. Just some food for thought. Buying an SX4 soon! Love the vids, keep em coming. Migration is coming hard here in SoDak.
Went from a mossberg 500, and after getting out shot by all my buddies with autos, bought a weatherby sa-08. Its been a great gun, very reliable, lightweight, worked great. However once I grabbed the wrong ammo case before a hunt and had no shells. My buddy shot 3.5s and only had a few 3 inch shells. Felt like an idiot, so long story short next season i bought a browning silver hunter 3.5 inch. Its substantially heavier, but its an amazing shotgun. I kept the weatherby cause some people said 3.5 inch guns don't cycle skeet loads. Maybe some cheap 3.5s don't but my browning cycles everything so I just use the weatherby as a loaner/backup but its still a great gun. Long story short you get what you pay for, and if you are getting into Waterfowl, get an auto. Pumps have their place but modern autos are extremely reliable and worth the money
My max 5 stoeger m3500 has same bolt style I love it and hardly have to clean it and all we hunt in NOVA SCOTIA is salt water eel grass mud flats and sand .. beating around in the boat and salt water doesn't bother the sucker a bit
I’ve used my nitro mag for about 5 years now. Now yes I have had issues, but keep in mind I’m very hard on my guns, going as far as having to use the nitro mag as a Oar for our boat. But the only issues I had were a lock ring in the mag tube and a jam issue which got taken care of with some cleaning and rem oil. I do plan on upgrading but this gun really worked well for me!
I think now a days if you stick to the main name brands. The big names, Browning, Mossberg, Winchester, Benelli, Beretta, Etc and you clean/lube it you’ll be fine. A $400 mossberg 500 will last you a lifetime.
@Travis Ethan... You are true, mine Winchester SX4. Until now there's no problem with it. Pretty good while shooting and hunting, cycling normally never got jam. I like it most. Light than SX3, ergonomics and easy to lead a target. Besides it's value for money...
I've had a Stoeger m3000 for 2 years now, hard use no problems yet! Had one failure to eject on a really light 1 oz grouse load and and one failure to fire bit that's because I pulled the trigger before the bolt was closed all the way.
i just started having problems with mine 2 weeks ago. it will no longer eject 3 inch shells. i just bought 2 and 3/4 inch shells, so hopefully that with help
Im a Benelli guy and just bought my second gun to the list. Its a Benelli montefeltro 12g absolutely love it. Super light weight and good aiming on ducks n geese.
WOW thats crazy ive never seen that happen but once one of my buddies, it was the last shot of the hunt and the season and when he shot the darn barrel fell off
I have the nitro mag 887 since 2013, had 8000 rounds through it shooting trap.. I do not hunt so all loads are either no 8 or 7.5.. Never ever had a problem with it.. I love it and it patters dead on target.
Sonny Gunz that wingmaster can only use a full choke no use for duck hunting, only good for shooting lead. If you can shoot lead, best gun ever, my grandad has one that he has made his own shells for. Back when we could use lead.
Do you have any trouble shooting lighter bird shot out of the Affinity? I’m a beginner and looking for one “all-around” gun, and, as a lefty, the Affinity is one of my only affordable options. It’s either that, or a Browning BPS or Rem 870. I’ve heard mixed opinions about autoloaders vs. pumps, and would like to hear your input! Cheers and happy new year.
I have a H&R Excell 3 inch semi auto i got for $300 on sale brand new during christmas about 6-7 years ago and have cycled roughly 2000 rounds and beat the living crap out of it (i mean numerous michigan blizzards and diver hunts when it’s down pouring on Lake Michigan) and never had anything malfunction on it
I’ve had one of the Tristar raptors for 5 years and it’s worked fine for me besides the fixed sights falling off so I don’t hunt with sights anymore but everything else works fine with occasional jams I love this gun
I have had the same mossburg 535 pump for 9 season 1000s of rounds later and I finally had to replace 1 small 13.00 part .. love my cheep gun 435.00 brand new keeper clean and oiled and cared for done deal
Been running a 20 year old 870 for the last few years as just stared waterfowl hunting. But shopping for a new gun doing lost of resurch. Leaning towards the Stoeger m3500 or m3000. They seem like a good bang for you buck. Waiting for a sale. Bobbyguy How do you feel about running a 10GA ?
What do you think about a Remington 11-87? What’s your opinion just curious I’ve used 870 express for just about anything finally decided to get a semi 🤷🏾♂️
umair khattak I have 3 Stoegers. M3500, M3000, and, the M3020 in 20 ga. They’re built like tanks imo. They’re made by Benelle so they’re quality, for about half the price.
Yo yo yooooooooo! Pattern kills Bobby! Every Fowler should pattern their chosen loads, a real eye opener! Two and three quarter inch fiochii 4s are the real deal for UK hunters! I’ve killed hundred of duck with fast lightish loads Put the pattern in the right place , it’s deaddddddd! Three and a half inch, too much for a twelve! In a ten gauge, yeh baby! That’s a proper goose gun! Use the 10g in uk for geese! Larger bore similar three and a half inch loads a killing pattern! Only pass shoot the geese with 10g , Winchester cartridges still reign supreme over here! Always watch your shows the night before I’m out hunting! Luv your enthusiasm and fowl Friday.
David Green my 887 works flawlessly but it's a lot lighter than it looks and those magnums put a hurting on you. I have a versa max now and it tames the recoil.
Shoot a Benelli Supernova or Remington 870 to start with because they're rugged, tough, fairly inexpensive pump-action shotguns. Then graduate to a nice autoloader like a Benelli Super Black Eagle II/III or Franchi Affinity. Pump-actions aren't easy to use and they really allow you to appreciate a quality autoloader.
I have couple 870s an 1100 12g and 11-87 12g. I cant keep them all which are better resale? All are well used but very well maintained trap series guns
I also lost the bolt handle out of my tristar, I'd always carry an Allen wrench in my pocket or blind bag. Saved the money bought a versa max and the thing just shoots. Whatever ammo, no matter the load it just shoots. I've put countless rounds through it and have only had 1 failure to cycle because I got water in my bolt and it froze.
I have a nitro mag no barrel bendin issue but after only owning it for about 2 years started haveing trouble with the fireing pin it dents the primer but not hard enough to set it off spring is to weak
I got stuck in strip pit mud up to my chest and had to use my affinity to dig myself out actually almost died completely drowned it in mud and put in in a bath tub to clean it out took a little while but it worked fine after that then recently bought a sx3
I love my fraunki infinity But I was wondering if I should get the stoger m3000 for duck hunting or should a just use the infinity too because I use the infinity for pheasant and dove hunting.
I'm starting out with a Browning Maxus. NOT a bargain price at all. I'm new to duck hunting and struggled on deciding to drop that much on a shotgun, especially with needing waders, decoys, calls, etc. I really don't want to buy a new shotgun every three to five years though so I am hoping it lasts me the rest of my life.
You can buy pumps for a lot less and they work a lot more when dirty. Look at the actions of the guns and the guarantees. Like if you take a Browning Gold Hunter and a Mossberg 930, the insides are the same, same everything but one cost twice what the other one cost.
Hey again, any recommendations for a good yet affordable Left handed auto for my 13yrd son? This year I gave him my over & under 20ga which he loves. I was going to give him my cz920 I won at sheet shoot but knocks the safety being a South paw lol
Man I drop my gun behind my chair and my buddy drove over it with his truck and it still shoots pretty good just got aim to the right a little bit. Since the bolt fell off I just use my toothpick
Beretta a400s' and stoeger m3000s are relative in terms of reliability. I bought a stoeger m3000 for my first shotgun at just over 500$. not one single complaint.
I own the Franchi Affinity too. I can't say enough about it, hands down best semiauto for the price. Fresh out of the box with a good cleaning i shot 1200 plus rounds in 3 days on a trap range and not a single issue. I've been hunting with it for two years (2-3 times a week during season) and it's been great! highly recommend this for anyone.
I really liked mine. No issues and a clean shooting gun, but I just sold it and bought a new A5. I thought the Franchi was smooth but holy shit this thing is amazing!
For my money Id rather shoot my handloaded hevi shot out of a pump over a semi auto with steel. That's just my preference. A 3" with 1.5 oz of Hevi Shot B or #2's through a full choke will drop a Honker at 65 yards with ease. I also think it's more worth someone's time and money to have and inexpensive gun and lots of rounds of practice vs $1K gun with little practice. I will probably get a semi auto once I have filled out my decoy spreads. My cousin is an idiot. He would rather have a semi auto than a full decoy spread.
Quick question. Can a waterfowl shotgun double as a deer hunting gun? I plan to only hunt deer perhaps once per year. Just wondering if these waterfowl shotguns will also shoot Buckshot or slugs effectively for deer hunting. Thoughts?
I have a tri-star and it is very nice and well put together. Mostly on cheaper guns you will see a trigger off a Daisy pellet gun. Imagine that another engineer that knows nothing about guns probably designed that trigger on the cheapest shotgun you can fine but that’s all beside the point back to what I was saying I can definitely tell you trigger is crisp and I would have paid 400 more if that was my only option. I paid 700 for the bronze edition G2 12 gauge. I will agree with you it is very cheap, meaning cheep price
I have a TriStar Hunter mag mossy oak camo for two years now I've shot well over 1200 rds (89% steel)I paid 700$ for it's a pig it's been to Davie Jones locker multiple times frozen and it keeps eating everything I throw in it. TriStar makes good guns I also have a TriStar viper g2 chrome 20ga it also eats everything you put in it it has 3yrs of complete abuse. The problem I've noticed from my buddies once you buy a sbe or super vinci is most Ppl baby them because they paid 1500+ no point in having a gun you can't beat up!!!
+Me Clay Agree man! Even though I spent 800 bucks I'm gonna use it just like I've used the rest. Sounds like I have a bit higher end of tristar than myself. I live the tristar, just need to rebuild it. Most comfortable gun I've owned
Want to save money and have a good gun go single shot, or double barrel, I have owned bough and never had a problem with them. Even when I had my single barrel I quite often came home with more ducks than the shooters who were using pump and auto loaders. Make your shots count, and have fun, not frustration. Plus the fact that the single and double barrels are much easier and quicker to clean. I will never forget the time I was up north and watched some skit shooting there was a kid there with a single shot and he out shot them all, some one offered him there pump for the doubles but he used his single shot and still came out a head, He could shoot and get the second shot in there like I have never seen before or since. It is making what you have work to the best of your ability.
Why was the barrels bending? My buddy has a browning with a bent barrel and another with the chamber part of the barrel is so swelled he cant take the barrel off
I have a m887 nitro mag and had that issue missed a big tom. I thought it was my choke tube and called carlson and they told me to buy and new one and if it was they would refund me both and I send them the old one. Bought a new one and it was the gun. I called remington and they they would send me a shipping label and I sent it to them and they fixed it and also sent a list of extra stuff they did to it, sent it back and man it throws one hell of a pattern. I love it turkey hunting. I had a super Nova and I tried everything to get a good turkey patter in it and never could. But loved how it felt and fit and out of the box killing ducks and clays it just fit me. It was a love hate because the bluing sucked and it was so clankie. I'm really wanting to move into a semi auto. Know several who have Stoegers and love them and have been using them for years and beat the heck out of em and I know several with sbe2 and 3s and love em.
blake barnett love my 887. Slide works smooth as butter and it's one tough gun. My only thing about it is that it's so light that those big 3 1/2 magnums can put a hurting on you.
best waterfowl shotgun hands down is a mossberg 935 no other auto like it on the market its the bore that makes it pattern so good .775 bore that also gives a extra 100fps to the shells with a 3.5" chamber you get the best of both a 12ga and a10ga in one gun put the full choke in and leave it this gun really works for a waterfowl gun best gun ive found for steel shot and i owned them all browning maxus ,gold 12 and 10ga. bps 12 & 10ga benelli super black eagles 1 and 2 rem 1100 .1187. 870. 887. sp10 ithaca mag 10. o/u 10ga. 3.5 browning o/u win sx2 and more for waterfowl i wouldnt trade a 935 for anything there that good at patterning and with heavy 31/2" shell just as good as any 10ga and better then some ive shot and cheaper then the rest $450 black to $800 pro camo model ive been hunting waterfowl the last 40 years and this is the gun to have trust me buy one
Man I sure love my affinity it’s an amazing gun I’ve killed plenty of ducks, dove, geese, sand hill cranes, and even a few hogs with that thing and it’s still running like a dream
I have a stoeger m3500 and it's about 600 dollars and it's a great cheaper semi auto gun I have had no problems with the m3500 but I have heard bad stuff about the m3000.
I completely agree benelli is super expensive but I was able to get a brand new super Vinci for $20 and I absolutely love it if I had to I would buy it for full price
I just bought my first shotgun Mossberg 835 ulti mag used from Cabelas for $300 I'm gonna be using it for waterfowl turkey dove and hopefully pheasant. I'm in Texas so I'm gonna hunt whatever I can with it. If anyone has any comments about the gun let me know
Do you know anything about legacy escort magnum 12 ga? I bought one last year, works great so far but haven't seen a lot of info on them. or many reviews.
I know a guy that has a Tristar, he loves the thing and beats it up. It still shoots though seems to be a good gun. I however shoot the a400 and don't plan on ever having problems👍🏻
I bought my tri star as a beater gun, over two cases of shells later and 5 months started having lite primer strikes, contacted TRI and had a new bolt and trigger assembly in 3 days at no cost to me,and she has kept on ticking ever since. On nice days or two easy hunts I break out the $800 gun.
I've had the a 300 for 2 seasons now. I've only cleaned it once per season, which I know I should probably do it more often. Despite this it has only jammed once and that was at the very end of this past season. It does scratch a little bit easy, but isn't too bad. Highly recommend it, good gun for the price.
O/U Or SxS , it seems the rest are prone to failure. Shoot my red label alot, bought it new in the early 80s shoots like the day I bought it. Worth 2x what I paid for it.
