My best and favorite edc fixed blade in the mid size rascal from Deep Cuts Cutlery. All of his knives are great and he uses high end tool steels with custom ht to get the most out of the steel. Also uses .100 blade stock and ground to sub 10 thou bte geometry, and some of the best taco style kydex sheaths ive ever used. All made in the USA. The Asher fixes are a great budget option as well.

I believe this is my new grail for pocket fixie. Next knife I buy has to be a Clydesdale, but this has moved into a tie with one of the exclusive Manix 2 LW (M4, Rex45, etc) for the next purchase I want to make. The price they are able to put Asher knives out for continues to impress. With the materials he chooses, each of the knives he has WOULD still sell at a higher price, but he chooses not to set a crazy market for his products. That is well worth supporting.

Ordered within 15 seconds of the start of this video, lol. I had a (horrible fake) Benchmade hidden canyon in s90v arrive from ebay. Refunded... So thanks for the heads up on this; it's perfect!

Chinese oem companies run s90v at 58-60rc targeting 59hrc. Ideally 62 hrc would be best for s90v in a edc knife but it isn't happening for 100 dollars made in China.

Nice blade my favorite EDC fixed blades are, Half Face Blades Combat Dirt Nap in Magnacut or my Williams Blade Design /TRC knives SZK005 in Elmax, or my TOOR knives, and SCALLYWAG TACTICAL collaboration knife called the Mutiny. They are the best EDC fixed blades I have found. Great overview! Thank you, and have a great day

@@chriswebb3018 You're not wrong, but S90V also isn't m390/20cv. 58-60 RC S90V still sharpens great and is gonna have a less than 10% (realistically, under 5%) loss in edge retention vs 62-63. 95% of users will never see any difference between 58 and 62 RC S90V.

@@chriswebb3018s90v at 62 hrc would be extremely brittle. at 60.5 hrc it’s already at around 5 ft lb of toughness, at 62 you’re looking at a range into probably somewhere around 3 or so, at which point the toughness is at a point where it makes more sense to just move to s110v or something such as maxamet, as above about 60 hrc there’s no real gain in edge retention. s90v isn’t like m390 or say rex45 or 4v, different steels do best at different hardness ranges and s90v is perfectly fine at 58-59 HRC and it’s ideal hardness is between 60-61 or so.

I'm sure it is done well, especially for 115$. And s90v performs best between 58-60, typically 59.5 is the best. Everything I've understood. I love s90v and have many knives in it. After 60.5 the toughness dies and I wouldn't even want it, that's why you don't see any s90v at anything higher than 60 HRC

I wrote to Justin before I picked up the fixie he said the lil buddy and the fixie tested at 59.5 hrc in my mind I’d like it to be a little harder but truthfully with the heavy carbide content it’s fine at 59.5 I’ve been carrying and using the fixie for about three months and man it’s incredible just everything is right with i can’t even pick it apart and that’s saying something

Not to shabby - from what I've seen and heard 59-60 is good for s90v - 60-61 may be better but I think it starts to really lose toughness passed 60/61? I agree though I love it

Yeah I'm not sure who oems the fixed blades, but I'm guessing foreign made. All Asher Knives are solid

I think there's a few things at play. #1 Justin isn't trying to get rich off the knives, my guess is he's making just enough to be profitable #2 most companies charge way above what should be just because they can and because it's a fixed blade it's simpler so easier to manufacture. Miguron does s90v in titanium folders for 140-170 all day. So yes I'm with you some companies go way overboard

love his stuff I have a few of his knives but I had problems reaching him or anyone from Asher when I had technical issues and just general customer service concerns. Not taking a jab at him I just think he's overworked and that's why he can get these prices so low. But if you see this I can send you some cute temps to help with the email and whatever else to make things go more smoothly ;) I was waiting for the recent TI spiro to complete my collection but had problems with the site all day and they sold before I could talk to anyone. Still no contact lol
