Worst thing about the meteoric ore blade is the devs couldn’t have even been bothered to put the gravity magic hit effect instead of the normal magic effect
A quick note about the Rivers of Blood: The blood extension and the weapon hit itself on Corpse Piler are mutually exclusive, meaning that if the blood extension does hit, the weapon itself cannot, and vice versa. Because the weapon itself has higher Motion Values than the Blood Extension does, you will always want to stay within melee range anyway to maximize the potential of the weapon. In any case, Naga/Uchi double slash still outperforms it.
Meteoric Ore Blade should have had a unique Waves of Darkness weapon art with a fast followup attack with meteoric effects. Serpentbone blade should have had a D scaling in arcane, and had the weapon art changed to a unique Poison Moth Flight that also buffs the weapon with a poison armament. Star-Lined Sword should have been a Light Greatsword, and had Frostbite instead of bleed, with the weapon art also dealing frostbite like Onze has on his weapon. Dragonscale Blade should have had passive bleed and the weapon art should either get range like the Leyndell Knight's get when they use Lightning Slash, or be a unique Piercing Fang. CONTROVERSIAL: Nagakiba should have slower light attacks and use more stamina. It's way too good with no drawbacks.
I'm so disappointed poison moth isn't on Serpentbone. Also, Star Lined Sword could have the frost vortex attack that Onze uses on its guard counter as well
whats sad is that the best feature of the meteoric ore blade which is the heavy ichimonji is that it has been made to a stance ash of war that can be put on way better weapons and can be buffed significantly
when you rank the great katanas, maybe weave them into this list, because that comparison would be interesting too would be generally cool to see in other ranking videos similar to another type
Heavy Barbaric Cry Uchi is one of my favourite things to run, might not be optimal but instant access to hyper armour on a weapon class this good while getting A Scaling is real nice.
A missed opportunity with the star lined sword was to give it frost instead of bleed. When you fight the guy that uses it, it gives you frost, but when you use it, it's bleed instead?
There's one thing that the Star-Lined Sword does better than the Moonviel; looks, IMO it's one of the best looking weapons From has EVER made. In terms of looks its an S++-tier weapon.
the r1 weapon art on the moonveil has this problem where hitting it at roint blank causes the projectile to go up. pretty sure it's a bug but noone talks about it
I have had that happen with the heavy too. I’ll hit with the weapon part but the projectile misses. It rarely happens but I should’ve still mentioned it
Having the Serpentbone Blade and Tree Spear not be infusible is even more inexcusable when you consider that the Venomous Fang can be, not to mention the Fire Knight/Black Steel/Clayman’s Harpoon weapons. I’d love to be able to do a poison/bleed setup as Arcane but your options are so limited.
You said strength int doesn't get anything good but that entire archetype is just a cold strength build, so it gets everything a pure strength build could get. 54 str and 20+int (for base reqs on some weapons) and you're swinging just as hard with frost buildup. The meteoric ore blade would be the only bleed option for that build without compromising damage on a katana. Not a great option (which is why it's the bottom) but an option still
Nagakiba is overrated. Everyone always mentions this distance thing, but the truth is you rarely beat a boss or really win based on a little bit of range. It's much better to have the power to the Uchi
Waterfowl should have infinite hyper armor once you get it going in PVE and It still wouldnt be top 10 weapon in the game let alone too OP or broken and it would be one the hardest ones to get. Give it passive rot and heal on hit with waterfowl or infinite hyperamor.
Meteoric blade is incredible. Its r2s got sped up to make it deal very good dps Also you're actually lying about a magic uchi or naga getting more damage, they get less damage when 2h when same amount of stat investment because meteoric is a strength weapon
@@datboi2882We could've gotten Sun Light Blade as a katana. Zacki has no balls. We could've gotten a Magma katana, but Zacki is a coward. The rewards for slaying Bayle were boring.
Star-lined sword's art should have been a stance where the first two hits of the ash are the light attack and the heavy is a jump-and-disappear thing like it does now, but with i-frames. Would have *probably* made that weapon competitive in PVP for people able to free-aim the ash.
Not really. It being uninfusable means it is locked out of some great ash of war contenders such as repeating thrust that have always (at least to my knowledge) outperformed corpse piler in terms of DPS. That, and split damage with fire.
It would've been cool if the meteoric ore blade had 2 ashes of war depending on input, like moonveil or sword of night and flame. One is a downward cut that launches enemies forward, and bosses if you breakl tand the other one is gravitas on steroids with crazy range and pull in power. Even better if it worked on bosses
Still love Rivers the most. Was never a fan of jump attack. It's very clunky to me. Moonveil was my first build. Also, another clunky move set. Rivers is just so smooth. No jerky start stop like Moonveil special move. Although your video has made me intrigued about the blood blade ash. Might give that a try.
Personally think Moonveil is number 1. Not sure why the fact that it scaling with Int also gives access to an entire kit of sorceries wasn't mentioned. Having weapons that scale with faith or int is always going to superior to weapons that scale with dex or str purely because it gives access to an entire suite of bonus skills. Dex scaling katanas are not remotely as versatile as Moonveil.
Infusible katanas are way more versatile than moonveil. Magic infused uchi and Nagakiba get more damage than Moonveil with the same build and you also get the option to change the skill and infusion to different elements or status effects
10:20 I’m pretty sure the double slash heavy true combos out of the witching hour skill. Unless they patched it out. So I’d say the heavy very much compliments the skill.
Tbh sword of night feels like an upgrade to hand of malenia, a cool ash is worthless if you can't ever land it while sword of night is good even in pvp, with the ash giving you a true combo into heavy The range on hand on malenia is comparable to the nagakiba though
With an uchigatana you can heavy attack after a guard counter then a light attack making a true combo. You can’t true combo with the nagakiba poking attack though
@@andrei-cezarbleaje5519 There's no reason to even showcase endgame boss fights for a tier list. You spoiled multiple boss fights for me when you can just show early bosses or random mobs for the purpose of the video. There's lots of new players out there interested in videos like this, just be mindful
Meteoric ore blade is the highest damage katana. It's been a trend since DS2 to make low range katanas do the highest damage(berserker blade, black blade).
About strength/int builds: there actually is a staff for the build, the demi-human queen staff which gets a c in strength as well as an s in intelligence
The strength scaling doesn’t boost sorcery scaling for that staff. It’s essentially a useless C scaling as it only boosts the damage of hitting with the staff itself
@simon-peterwilliamson2412 unfortunately not, though when upgraded it is the strongest staff for int levels 1-40, anything above 40 and its just worse than most other staffs.
In a keen infusion yeah but for everything else it’s almost around 20AR. Which still isn’t much but as I mentioned in the video the uchi has other things going for it too
Keen Infusion has ~18 more AR on Level 125 according to slugbot Occult infusion (most optimal) has ~33 more AR This can vary based on other equipment that can affect required endurance levels.
