Glad you’re enjoying Gon’s character, he often gets under appreciate in anime. Especially when in his own show he’s surrounded with other strongly written characters such as Killua, Kurapika, Hisoka, and Meruem. Personally, he’s my favorite character in all of anime.
😂 I am glad you realized Togashi was going to jump around in plot points. I really do think Togashi started being into having a bunch of semi-connected storylines in Yorknew, it continued in Greed Island, but I feel like the 2011 anime adaption focused so much on Gon and Killua, we didn't see the bomber's subplot as a second storyline. Then he just goes absolutely wild in this arc. If you ever read the manga the current arc is really similar, but has even more plotlines going on all at once. I do like 116 as an episode because I think it is great that Togashi decided to make the super strong 12 year old act like a 12 year old. The world would be awful if we had a bunch of powerful kids running around. I know some people don't like Gon's dark turn, but I do think is very real given his age.
@@Shadow-fl4qi honestly, Togashi’s construction of Gon’s character is masterful. You think everything is obvious because you’re good at paying attention, but a fair few people never grasp Gon’s character fully. He’s surprisingly subtle. I still see people almost weekly having discussions talking about “is Gon a monster or not” or “why did Gon get that angry over Kite” and whatnot. People have surprisingly little media literacy. Anyways, great reaction. Episode 116 is one of the best anime episodes I’ve ever watched.
@@mangoturtl1343 woah that's crazy i would of never of thought that was the case i thought it was obvious like you said hahaha. Guess i am good at paying attention because i honestly feel like i don't sometimes
@Shadow Some people like things to be more black and white. I think in this episode in particular, I think people are also a little upset with how Gon treats Killua. There is this constant talk about how their friendship is one of the best things they have seen. But if you go back, it has been subtly problematic the whole time, imo. That is real. All of our relationships have healthy and unhealthy aspects. There are always people that only want to see what they want to see, and when it deviates from that, it jars them. I think Hunter x Hunter spends a lot of time with subtext that some people don't engage until it is thrust into their faces. There is nothing wrong with just vibing with the show; there is a lot of emotion put into it. But it is also a very intellectual show as well. That is why I keep watching it. Also, before a gaming stream, once you are finished, you should do a live discussion.
@@zelki2751 oh that sounds kind of fun actually i think i probably will do that as long as personal things line up well by the time i get to that point. Also I agree with what you said, some people prefer black and white stuff and that's fine, but I can see everything that's going on here and this is how i would expect someone in Gon's shoes to react given the situation. Even with his reaction to Kill, it all makes sense to me and imho, it's not very hard to see that, but hindsight is 20/20 so i get it
