The Chinese company that makes those sells them to a few other companies. They are functionally identical, just the shell and maybe the controls differ slightly. The internal brew mechanism, grinder, and seemingly the logic are the same. Most are currently for sale for $399, or $499 with a milk steaming wand. This includes GE Profile, SMEG (grossly overpriced at $900+), Cafe Affetto, Espressione Concierge, and likely others.
I love your attitude and presentation! We have a Tchibo in our house after using Keurig and would never go back. It really does make great coffee and their 24/7 customer service is great
That's awesome! I just got another and I'll be doing another review of it soon. Apparently there have been some subtle differences internally that I may or may not notice.
Very nice video, we have this machine, learned a couple extra things by watching this video. We are looking for a video on how to clean it. I'll move to your next video.
Oh, and we LOVE this machine. We moved away from the city and coffee shops recently and had to find a way to make our own americanos at home, this is perfect and saves us so much $$
My machine would grind the coffee but not make the pod and brew the coffee so to RU-vid I went. Found this video and it was so informational. I just took out that part inside and cleaned the whole inside, took out the water reservoir and gave the filter a good scrub, put it all back together and voila, it’s working again! Thank you for this helpful video!
Hi, your review was excellent. But I have an additional question for clarification. Does the machine use the same amount of coffee for all three sizes it can dispense? I like my coffee strong but if the larger cup size uses the same amount of coffee with more water, it will only get weaker for a full mug. Perhaps I am misunderstanding…? Thank you!
As I mention in my review at 12:48, pressing the boost button grinds more coffee no matter which size coffee serving you choose thus giving you a stronger cup of coffee. You press the boost button prior to making the coffee size selection..
@@michaelerbreviewsmany thanks! My Nespresso needs replaced and I love the rich coffees but hate the capsule system. Still, for superior coffee I’d do almost anything except pay hundreds of dollars for a machine. (Former French press user but it seemed too wasteful.) Again, thanks for your review that covered most every angle of the machine. 😊
My dear excellent presentation regarding the coffee machine esperto 2 introduction video, Would you please advise us more operating system regarding symbols empty container, If can see over video how to re start once flashing the sibol
Unfortunately I can't since I no longer have this machine. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it but I review a lot of machines and it had to go to make room for the next one.
I haven’t been able to order the tchibo beans from either Amazon or tchibo, but now I found the “ light roasted Hawaiian coffee beans” at Sprouts, the beans are dry not oily and taste great.
Hi Michael , just a question , We re planning to buy one of this kind of Tchibo machine to our ambulance station . About 30 - 40 dose per day . Would you recomend it for that intense use? Thanks
@@michaelerbreviews The chute directly below the grinder, very hard to get into. Shine a light up in there. Also there are a lot of nooks and crannies around where the puck of coffee that are hard to get to. It's a great machine otherwise but a pain to clean. I'm looking to get one of those mocchamasters instaed.
Poor customer support. I purchased one for my travel trailer because of its narrow profile. Counter space is at a high premium in a TT and my Saeco Vienna took too much space. Used it for two seasons without an issue but it failed to make coffee in the third season. Contacted about a repair, sent them a video they requested and have heard nothing despite several follow up emails. Contacted several small appliance repair shops and none will even took at it. No repair or parts manuals that I have found online so i am stuck and operating blind. Will most likely buy another Saeco for my TT despite the use of space and I can have the Saeco repaired locally.
So it is out of warranty. Did the company offer to fix it for a fee or anything? Do you think an out of warranty appliance should be serviced for free forever? How much use did the machine get over the course of 2+ years?
@@michaelerbreviews I nerd asked for the coffee machine to be fixed for free, I just wanted it fixed. I found a couple of German videos (German is my second language) that show how to tear the machine down and do repairs. That is a near term project.
@@nathankeith3415 I never said you asked to have it fixed for free, I was merely asking what your expectations are for a machine that is out of warranty. What is the problem with the machine? I had to contact their support once and found them very helpful.
Nice review, very thorough. How would you compare it to the Affetto? We are in the market for this type of machine and there are so many options, price-points. Thank you
Very good question and I was intending to make another video comparing them side by side. In a nutshell, they are the same mechanism inside. Exactly the same. But the Cafe Affetto has a more sophisticated software interface and method of making the espresso, Americano and Lungo plus some additional options. BUT, if you mainly want espresso, or Americano, I can't really justify the cost of the Cafe Affetto. It's more than twice the price of The Tchibo. For about $300 I think The Tchibo is the winner.
@@ChrisCostello-n2t if they were both new in the box and the GE Affeto was at the lower price same as the Tchibo, I would choose the GE Affeto with the caveat that the software did have some issues that I could never resolve.
You got it. Using boost increases the amount of coffee used to make the espresso thus it will be more strong and not as watered down once you add ice and possibly more water. You can also make multiple shots depending on how much iced coffee you ultimately want.
Thanks - nice overview. I have a unit and like it. However, after cleaning the brewer, I did not get it set fully back into the machine. When I turned it on, the brewer jammed as it rotated. I am now not able to move or remove the brewer. Is there a way to release it?
There's not much to show. I simply fill the water reservoir with anywhere from 1/3 White Vinegar to 2/3 Water or 50/50 and start the cleaning cycle as per the user guide. Make sure you put a large enough container under the spout to hold the ejected solution. shoptchibo.com/pages/ownership-care
Love my Tchibo; love your review as it influenced me greatly! Problem: trying to find medium strength, non-oily, low acidic beans. Do you have a favorite?
Do you have a favorite local coffee roaster or coffee shop? I'd start there. Finding the best coffee to fit your taste preference will take some hit or miss attempts. Your local roasters should be able to guide you. If you're looking for convenience and don't worry so much about freshly ground, I've used Whole Bean Starbucks Pike with marginally satisfying results.
I like to go to local coffee roasters to buy my coffee. Everyone has their own coffee taste preferences so you may have to go through some trial and error to fine your favorite coffee. In a pinch you could try a bag of Starbucks Whole Bean PIke which is medium roast. But really, visit a local coffee shop and start there. They can guide you to trying a variety and roast of coffee that will fit your needs.
If I shop at Starbucks, I wonder if Italian roast is too oily & dark? It's always been my favorite roast. What is the darkest acceptable roast for this machine.... and can I simply clean it more if I were to favor darker roasts?
Hi there just finding this. Trying to figure out how to unjam my grinder. I used some oily beans (lesson learned) and now, even with the regular ones I can't get a strong coffee. Is there any way I can fix this myself. I've seen adverts for grindz, a cleaning product for grinders that you put through like you would the beans but I don't think you're supposed to use them in an espresso bean to cup machine. Any help gratefully received!
The purple package of SuperGrindz is made to remove the oil from the grinder mechanism in automatic espresso machines. I’ve been using very oily dark roast beans for a year with no problems at all. I use the SuperGrindz pellets monthly as part of my maintenance routine.
Does anyone know how to fix the problem of the machine not emptying a compressed coffee after each use?? I am waiting on a response from customer service but have not heard anything yet. I have only had this machine for about 10 months and I have loved it but now it seems to be on the fritz!!😢
I never had that occur. Have you removed the brewer mechanism and rinsed it? It is a mechanical process which pushes the grounds out so I'm wondering if the piston is somehow jammed.
You can use any whole beans. Just stay away from using extremely oily beans such as French roast. No all-in-one machine like this will work very well if it all with very oily beans as they tend to jam up the burr grinder.
Has anyone had issues with the machine not flowing correctly? The coffee nozzle or area w the puck seems to be messed up and causing the coffee to flow back into the puck tray cause a big mess
Hmmm, not my experience. You should preheat your cup with a little hot water if you're not getting hot enough espresso. Realistically, just how long do you think 1oz of espresso will stay hot?
unfortunately , its horrible product, we own one, the inside is always dirty from wet coffee, the mold is everywhwere, even in the area where the new grinded coffee coming to press chamber, its a health hazard (I have photo proofs), I highly not recommend this product. Turn the machine on the side and check by yourself how dirty the mechanism is. The tchibo shop not acknowledge the complaint and return the product and stated its not faulty. Either you deep clean whole inside every other day or you get used to drinking moldy coffee :/ I am very disappointed from this product and the customer support :/
I could not disagree more. It’s a great product and at a great price. I’ve had mine for many months and I’ve never seen the hint of mold. The inside is dry and there’s no coffee anywhere. If you clean the machine as instructed you will not have a mold problem. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SBEWanFeT8Y.html
I’m not sure why you’re having such an issue, you could possibly have a damaged product in which case they should replace it entirely. It’s not that bad, your problem sounds excessive
i have seen mold at caffe machines that cost even $2000. but the reason for it to happend is always the same .. its when you dont clean the machine properly. coffe its a wet piece of organic material inside of closed heated environment. like what do you expect to happen? ofc its gonna catch mold.
