It's won over 10 Car of the Year awards around the world, and it's affordable! Many people aren't a fan of MG's petrol cars, and that's understandable. But it sure can make one hell of a EV that normal people can afford!
Excellent review as always, giving a potential purchaser all their questions answered and I love the look so as my inner city go cart it ticks all the boxes . Cheers Cam .
I have an MG4 x-power. Porsche acceleration for a bargain basement price. I love it. It has some downsides. Software sucks. CarPlay integration is wired and sketchy. But for the price? Like I say, I love it.
I probably won't own an EV in my lifetime but if I did the MG4 Essence 64 would be at the top of my list for all the reasons described in this video. I checked out the build quality and it's acceptable if not up to Mercedes standards as yet. I would change three things about the EV with the first one to get rid of the elastic netting off the centre console as it makes the rest of the interior feel cheap. The second thing would be some newly designed solid one piece alloy rims with better wheel styling. And the third thing would be to have the E-LSD from the XPower in the rear differential of this model. But overall it does have fantastic features and is definitely good value for money at around fifty thousand Australian dollars. 😎🇦🇺👍
why not? Why donot try different things? EV may be better choice. This Car is cheap car, one of the cheapest ev cars. In China, the the price is less than 15k Dollars. If you want to pay more, of course you can get much better one.
People would not have bought them ,if they knew that the price in Australia was going to be dropped by $10,000 to clear the backlog. Fastest devaluing EV, even surpassing Tesla !
Wow you talk fast. The start up on/off IS peculiar but is NOT a big deal. It is just different. As for fussy start up, you are kidding right? Get over it. I don’t know how long you’ve used one but so far it has NEVER happened. (Possibly because our ICE VW required a press of the brake for a lot longer, so we are absolutely used to it and the MG is way faster) Your obsession with this is just silly try starting a VW diesel, then think which one is ready quickest. The torque vectoring on sweeping bends at speed is impressive. Custom mode is our preferred drive mode. One pedal drive needs a very light touch and doesn’t appeal except for longer trips with not much traffic. I like the buttons. It’s the way the Apple car play set up does require you to have your phone open (not locked) It’s hard to get used to. The access to the climate control setting if you are navigating using Apple Maps is: Home button > Swipe down > adjust >Home button > Apple CarPlay icon. And that is NUTS. A press and hold the fan button should be all you need. They need to update that.
Start up is still too slow compared to rivals who use keyless start. I've tested Volvos and Teslas that use this buttonless start, and the MG4 has proven to be frustrating by comparison. Without any comparison, you might not notice it as much. But it absolutely needs improving in its response time.
@ProductReviewCars yes there is, even compared to the Leaf I found it a terrible car to drive. Felt unsure on corners and the interior seemed cheap as hell(Ioniq has its fair share of hard plastic but no where near as bad) and it was a like a 1950's lifeboat on the high seas over 60mph
@@cyruslad5462 Are you sure you drove an MG4? I drive one since 2 months and it drives like a dream. I drive an average 130 km per day with a majority on the autobahn. Also driving the curve roads on Swiss mountains are handled without a glitch.
