If you're going to buy one external hard drive, you should also buy another identical one to backup any important files. If you drop or one of your external hard drive fails, it cost thousands for those forensic hard drive recovery services.

I have a WD my book 12 tb. And it's very loud. It's the loudest drive I ever had. I have a WD elements 4 tb and I like it better it's quieter, lighter and it has a switch to turn it off. I use it for my TV.

Some info is wrong. A single file in a FAT32 formatted drive in itself can only be 4GB in size (not a folder, just a single file. For e.g. A single video can not be more than 4GB in skze. But a folder with multiple videos of upto 4GB can be of any size) and not 400GB as you mentioned. Ex-FAT system is developed my Microsoft and also supported by Mac. That means the drive will be compatible with both, Windows as well as Mac. Use APFS (latest version from Apple) if you're gonna use the drive on Mac only.

First of all thank you for the review .. I don’t think Im gonna get this my book hard drive but since you have many hard drives I think you’re the right person to ask xD ... well I wanna ask some questions if you don’t mind I have files that is 1 TB and a half .. what could be the best way to save them and make sure I don’t lose them ? Buying like 2 hdd so I had a spare copy .. or is SSD drive a good solution? Once I had an hdd but it didn’t work anymore and I lost my files so Im terrified that the same thing happens again P.S. ( you have a nice accent )

They're really loud, so i eject it when I'm done which is also safer in case of ransomeware or virus attacks, but I couldn't find a power switch to reconnect it like the very old ones. How do you reconnect it?

It is not only compatible with PC but also with Mac and the Format is very unstable and might cause Disk Failure

I'm not completely sure what you're asking but i'll do my best to answer you. If you reformat your HD, you will not need to set a password for it. You do not need to include a password on it and you can basically use it like a large USB stick. I hope that helps.

My Book has encryption password if you don't want anyone to open your files. Elements is your basic external drive. Many people prefer My Book over Elements. Also Elements doesn't get good reviews and many people feel WD made a cheap product much like Seagates HD's.

NOTE this is formated in the outdated exFat format for the Apple idiots! Remember to format it to NTFS before use if you actually want to be able to use it!

On the Windows operating system, they're called "Disk Management". You can find this by going to the Start menu (Windows key) and search for "Disk Management" and it will show all hard drives (and/or external hard drives) that are on your system. You can reformat a hard drive, choose a drive letter, and so on in this utility. Hope this helped!

i was planning to buy 12tb wd elements external for backup...so here's question...if i format 12tb to one gpt partition, then copy 2 files, for example devil may cry 5.iso (which is like idk 20-30gb) and need for speed heat.rar (also over 20gb) to gpt partition and can i then mount image from gpt drive and install game normally to my windows 10 ntfs partition and also extract 20gb rar to my ntfs drive? is that gonna work or files will be corrupted?

can we use it always connected mode with the pc so it does not need to be connected everytime when i switch on pc, and if we shut down pc keeping the drive connected and not ejecting ⏏️ so will it harm the drive
