I played through college. And there is nothing, absolutely nothing, like seeing my boys on the field.

Know the feeling, from both sides. I remember my dad watching me play football, proud as could be. And I've also yelled the obligatory "THAT'S MY KID! That's MY! kid!", I've humiliated him with my cheering and also watched him smile to me when no one else is watching. He says he hates it, but also says he likes it. I don't care what he says, I'm still gonna cheer him on like a maniac till he gets a restraining order on me or something :p

Man I tell you as a father that has road around with a bucket of baseballs and a glove in the back of my truck for the past 8 years, videos like these have something special about them for me. The game of baseball is just so much more than a bat, ball, and glove. What this game does for fathers and sons is beyond explainable. You have to experience what it's like to carry that bucket of balls out onto an empty field with your son for years to find out what it's really about. All the conversations it sparks, all the emotion you get to share together, the hard work that you get to put in side by side, and getting to be there to see how proud it makes your son when he is successful...baseball is truly so special.

Dad giving the kid a bat gets me every time. I lived and breathed baseball growing up. I was the youngest of 5 and we were far from well off. My parents busted their ass. My dad worked unreal hours so my mom was able to go part time and take night classes to become a an RN. I still remember when they saved up enough to buy me my own bat for the first time. I saw how hard they worked and was old enough by that time to understand the sacrifices they made to be able to afford to get my own bat. Honestly, i almost started tearing up writing this post from thinking about it. I still have that bat tucked away in my closet. It's broke in half but I've never even thought about getting rid of it. People like to trivialize sports but they can make family memories that last a lifetime.
