I'm from Chile, and Labatut was highly overlooked here until he was nominated to the Booker Prize. That book is amazing, elegantly revolves around its philosophical subjects without touching them directly. A great exercise in literary reflection
As always, James, a great list! I'll be looking at some of those suggestions for the new year. 104 books, huh? That's a lot of reading. Couldn't help but notice on that brilliant tapestry of covers, a couple were missing... Hope you are healthy and well.
Unless I'm missing it somewhere in the poster, or misremembering how long ago it came out, it seems you haven't read Project Hail Mary, which I found deeply enjoyable. It's more exciting and fun than it is deeply meaningful or thought provoking, but it also breaks away from some traditional Sci-Fi trappings and renders a believable, yet hopeful image of humanity.
I'm late on this one, but I just have to second your thoughts on How Much of These Hills Is Gold. What an incredible debut novel! I'll be picking up a copy of Heaven this weekend. Thanks for the great recommendation!
@@AmorSciendi I honestly have never thought of doing one. But it's a great idea for a video. I'm hoping to highlight some lesser known titles throughout the year though.
