I am an old guy. Back in the 70's we were in my Bass Boat on Rayburn, I was sitting on the front with my feet in the water trolling. I saw what I thought was a log in the water and it moved. It was a Gar at least 8 Ft. long, more than 3' circumference. I got my feet out of the water.

The winter hole I fish is loaded with big gar rolling on the surface........loaded with good trout too. My friend and I caught an honest 40 trout there just a few days ago and brought home a two man limit of 18” to 22” specks. They don’t seem to mind the gar at all. Predators and prey do co-exist quite nicely.

I fish the Matagorda area and a lot of our fishing spots have been fenced off or have no trespassing signs up because everyone trashes the place. I bring an extra bucket for trash and put a lid on it so none of the trash flies out of the truck while your driving. Please clean up after yourself guys if you appreciate these areas where we are allowed to fish at or drop in at. Thanks. I really like watching your videos and thanks to you for allowing us to join you on your fishing adventures.

The first time I ever was kayak fishing was in Hopedale, LA and a giant gar rolled right next to my kayak, it had to be 6' long. I about had a heart attack thinking it was an alligator then realized it was silver and then I realized what it was. Later in the canal right in front of the Hopedale Marina giant gars were rolling all over the place, it must have been a common thing there because no one seemed to pay any attention to them, but for me it was a crazy sight since I live in Chicago!

If this was December 11th. Bro it was rough. I went Sunday and slayed reds back to back. It’s on my RU-vid channel “SEF FISHING”. But we went today, and boy was it rough. Landed 3 reds but spent hours looking for them. Cold really had them on lockjaw

We fish mid-coast creeks, which always have large alligator gar in them, but we also catch plenty of large reds in the same water. So I don’t see gar as a negative when I see them.
