Probably worth mentioning for any new players, do not put different food types in the wheel. Regardless what food you use, only use 1 type as your wheel will stop mid-tame if your one type runs out. It will not just carry on and start using the other food. It requires a manual restart if it switches food types.
With the changes to the fishing system it is probably not worth it to use shellfish anymore, blood sausage is still an option. But i think i'll stick with gruel, a quick round with a sickle will do just fine.
the compost bin will make fat grubs if there is one compost or more in the compost bin. the shrimp shelfish is 10+ healing food for bears the crabs have almost no use and is my preferred food for taming thralls
I start with gruel and move to shell fish once I have my fish/lobster traps. I have a ton of shellfish laying around because you can not use them for much of anything else aside from food and taming turtles and such.
The only way to reduce the time it takes to tame a thrall is by putting a taskmaster on your wheel. A named taskmaster will bring the taming of a named thrall down to under 7 hours. An easy spot to get a named taskmaster is by going to Sinners Refuge, at the back of the cave the cave by the altar there are a group of thralls that spawn all with the title of chosen of Asura, you can recognize them by their blue and red armor. Sir Bowen of Asura is the taskmaster.
Gruel is by far the easiest to farm...you get 10 out of 5 plant fiber and 1 seed...why even bothering building chellfishtraps...you already have to farm for the insects for the traps to gather that many shellfishes, meaning you already have the plantfiber and seeds xD I would say combining cooked unappetizing fish and gruel is the best way...since the standard fishtraps are smaller
Yea, it's easy to get tons of it, and the spoil rate of gruel makes it super easy to accumulate. You can go offline for a week and you still have 90% of the gruel left.
You mentioned at the beginning with the grilled stek you lose 4. Only one starts to expire out of the stack and the thralls actually take that one. So if a food spoil time is less than it's burn time, that's the only case you loose food. Otherwise you won't get rotten meat.
Actually (correct me if I'm wrong) but you wouldn't be losing steak, the timer is for a single steak. It'll be used long before the full hour of decay is up
I am surprised you didn't suggest Unappetizing Fish for low levels. Cooking those will also get you Ichor which is really useful later on as well, and like the Shellfish, are free!
@@emrik99 The vanilla game only has 60 levels. If you've got 120 you're playing a modded game, probably Age of Calamitous. Otamega42 Yes, level 28 is still early game. The first levels go by very quickly. You can advance several levels just on the journey from the spawning sites in the desert north to Noob River. Acquire a few tools and weapons, some armor and a shelter to call home and you're most of the way to level 28.
For the best food, it's really simple. For getting ichor, you cook a lot of unappetizing shellfish or unappetizing fish anyways. They are cooked and caught allready and you have tons and tons of them. Just feed the thralls your waste, only other way to use that amount of cooked food is to let it spoil and either press it or make compost. The inventory of the friendship wheels is big enough to just fill it up and any thrall gets tamed easily.
@@timmytenders144 they use to catch fish without the need for bait and provided alot of ichor and oil, it is almost pointless to use them as the fish decay so fast and no longer provide ichor and very little oil on top of needing to look for bugs for bait
@@truelove3435 Best way now is Ichor (mined from spiders) and bark (mined from trees) in a alchemist bench with a thrall. They nerfed oil output from fish to 1 per exotic fish in a fluidpress.
I use all my cooked Unappetizing Fish as fuel for the Wheel of Pain. I always have tons of it leftover anyway since my playstyle is always so ichor hungry.
you didn't take into consideration how fast the food will burn per single piece of food. yes the meat might last 1 hour, however the meat will be used and the timer will reset. 1 steak will only add 10 minutes to the wheel, after that 10 minutes the timer on that stack will reset to 1 hour. you can watch the food consumption bar, and see after each piece of food is used the timer on the stack resets. my times might be off for how long the burn time on the steak is, but you get the idea. I use exotic fish, fish traps don't need bait anymore to get fish. just toss them in the grill, and savory fish in the press and pending on if you need ichor or oil depends on where the doodoo fish go.
What about the Taming Thrall ? Is there a huge difference between Named lvl 4 Thrall and an Purged Taming Thrall? Or does it even exist? If so would be an Interesting Video :)) Keep up the amazing work!
@Cedric Wilson @Harino than why is it differend on smelters? Semlter named or T4 ist slower than an Purged Smelter, i can link yall an Video if u like to but its fact thats why im asking.
@@Angelox3Dajana Sorry i missread Your post, Purge taskmaster works indeed faster than a regular T4 taskmaster. Purge T4 take the same time as regular T4 thats it.
Try putting an advanced blunted fitting on it. I haven't tried the javelin, but worked well on any trudgeon or basic hunting bow I've put it on (a super-low DPS bow paired with blunted arrows also works well for knocking out thralls). You could also make the concussive oil if you have the means to do so, but that's a much more complex/costly route to go.
most likely a mod, battle pass reward, or no longer available in current update. I've looked through all armors and the closest I've seen to that is the outfit taskmasters come with
hi spark this was a good info for this good video sir : ) cuz i used to see some people cooked other things fish and meat ty for the video very help full and now i see why people do this and great info on this and they why and how it works and time : )
Do you have a vid on the foods for health regeneration? This one clan is killing my Dalinsia every single time, but with a Berserker or Beastmaster. Makes no sense at all. I must be missing something
For thralls every food type heals 5 every tick. It use to be that the exotic feast, the last item in their list healed them the most, but that don't seem to be a thing so its a flat amount every time. Make sure you also do the double bonus by feeding them the 1st or last item and then something like gruel so they get both damage boosts from eating normal and 'fav' food.
Dalinsia Snowhunter is a very powerful thrall when leveled, but Beastmaster Teimos is also very powerful and levels a lot faster. Dalinsia is a slow leveler, Beastmaster Teimos levels about twice as fast. You've got to give your Dalinsia the best possible armor and weapon as well as the best food, and help her out with healing arrows as well if she's going up against a tough opponent. She should be leveled up by killing lots of wights and skeletons before she goes up against other high level thralls like Beastmaster Teimos and Cimmerian Berserkers, especially if you know they've been leveled up. Cimmerian Berserker fighters have the highest damage multiplier in the game. The only reason they aren't considered more powerful than Dalinsia is that they start out with less HP (4437 versus 5547). If they're at the same level Dalinsia can usually outlast them. Still, that's not guaranteed. A large part of how they level is the luck of the random number generator.
Don't you get ichor for the shellfish too? And using unappetizing fish as food instead of oil means you can't call yourself Lawrence and cruise the desert in an Audi anymore (you don't get massive oil reserves)
its a fun test you did here.. but ill stay with gruel for my main fuel.. not that waste fish products don't come in handy.. but swinging a sickle for 2 min is faster than a shellfish trap for a day (not counting buggs ofc). still i was wondering if there was anything better out there so thx for finding out
How much does each tier of taskmaster reduce tame time ? Are any named taskmasters better then any other ? Is there anything that can be done during taming ( food used , certain taskmaster etc.) That has any effect on the outcome? Like higher stats or hp etc ? Disclaimer I don't think there is but it might be a fun experiment to conduct
Thralls come with pre determined stats, based on level and faction they belong to. So nothing else influences that. T4 world taskmasters tame thralls in 1/2 the time, purge taskmasters in 1/3. Both use 50% less food per minute on top of that (so combined reduced time and food means regular T4 needs 1/4 the food, purge needs 1/6th). There is no difference between different thralls of the same tier.
yes but you wont be able to play on servers with mods as epic don't support mods, and even if they do in future you still likly wont be able to join servers that say run steam mods.
Firespark how do I find you on a chat. Im trying to find the thrall with the hairstyle in your video with the ponytail. Is that available on console as a moderator or admin? Ive looked, cant find an answer online. Any help would be appreciated. I like the high ponytail.
