BEST Forgiving Anti-Slice Driver of 2023! 

Hi guys 👋 Quick note to say I meant to say “SFT” not “LST” at the end and in the graphic - it’s the SFT that I tested in this video (just a little mistake!)

So I just bought the Ping G430. I’ve been golfing for 1 year and struggle with a bad slice. But since buying this driver it has absolutely saved me so many times. I went from shooting around a 105 to shooting a 91 today. Definitely works!

I got fit into the Ping G430 SFT driver, G430 Max fairway, G430 hybrid, and G430 irons! Everything is a slight draw! Did I mention I just turned 70? They were a birthday present, I just received them but have to wait about a month to hit them. I hate winter!!!!

Love your swing! been gone from golf for few years .. looking at the Aero Jet for my slice. Keep the videos coming!!

I put together a paradym x with a senior shaft in the shop I work in and just could not miss the fairway 😂 I was swinging at 117mph and it was honestly just so easy, I've seen it perform very well in my fittings as well, would highly recommend 👌

i have to agree. tried both the lst and paradym td as my top two. really liked the paradym, but the lst just couldn’t miss. lost about 4-5 yds on average, but my dispersion was terrific

Great video Pete , I’ve had the dreaded slice since time began and currently have the Ping G425 sft version but since I’ve had a few lessons with a golf pro I’m now hitting a nice draw and have changed to the Ping 430 max so I can swap things up as my bad shot now Is a duck hook left if I don’t follow my drill and routine since fixing my slice 👍🏻⛳️

I just can’t justify spending the amount of money they’re asking. I get that there’s a lot of tech etc but it’s getting a bit ridiculous with the pricing of clubs.

“The Cobra it feels strong. The Ping it feels easy. The Callaway is both of those rolled into one.” I got flashbacks of Jeremy Clarkson for a moment 😂

The Cobra and the Callaway also have draw settings on their tips to increase more left without increasing loft the Ping doesn't without increasing loft. These are all great for the strong fader , the slicers not so much but will help some , play as much loft has you can and a properly fitted shorter shaft . Ping's stock Alta shaft offering is 45 3/4 inches long if you get it 44 1/2 and swing weighted properly this can help alot , Cobra also offers all their Aerojet versions in a Tour length which is 44 1/2 inches which will be swing weighted at the build.

Great content. I struggle with a slice and gamed a Ping G425 SFT last year. Some days I hit straight bombs, others a slight fade, occasionally a nice draw. I’ve considered getting fit for a new driver in 2023 and I’m curious to try a shorter shaft to build confidence and help with accuracy. Have a tee time in the morning and tossed my 3-wood shaft on my driver for it. Definitely not scientific but I’m going to see what it does for me. I’d like to stay with Ping as I love all my Ping clubs but I’m open to seeing what a fitting can do for me.

Ive moved from a low spin driver to a more forgiving driver and whilst my top end has slightly dropped the low end has jumped up showing a average of distance gained. I think a well set up forgiving head is the way to go.

Any chance you could compare 10 ping g425 max vs 10 ping g430 max drivers? Just wondering if the difference is worth forking out another $575 for the g430 max thanks

Just bought the Tsi 2 today, can’t wait to get on the course and hit it.

I feel if someone has a driver from last 3-5 years they shouldn’t upgrade.. go to pro shop maybe get a different shaft or lead tape and dial your driver in. So many golfers just buy new clubs every year or every 2 … just a waste could be buying lessons, balls better courses ect

I just bought a Cleveland Launcher Driver from Ebay - £38 - I really can't be doing with all these modern clubs that cost silly money, as long as I can hit it 270-300 in a straight'ish line, then I'm happy.

What do you think of the Taylormade Sim2 Max driver?

I so want the paradym x but cannot justify paying out that much. I loved it when I tested it out recently

I had a club fitting and I tried every new club on the market, for me, I liked the Mizuno a lot and went with the 230 Z. Previously had the Covra radspeed.

Pete may I be so bold as to ask you to test the callaway triple diamond with the weights switched around. The heavier one at the back of the head to increase MOI? To see if it is more forgiving? Thanx!

Hi Pete - what shaft did you use for the 10.5 degree driver data? Regular shafts just feel better for me than stiff, even though I have decent swing speed.

The most interesting thing about this Video, and it's not the Drivers, is the fact that when Peter hits a ball at 100mph swing speed it looks like he is putting absolutely no effort into it at all but when I hit my Driver at 100mph, I am launching myself into it with everything I've got, and it still doesn't go very far. Just goes to show, technique and timing are everything.

When I watched this I was sure the Callaway was going to be the winner, based on comments and data, so was surprised that Peter went for the Ping Driver. I'm certain that most people buying a new Driver are looking to increase the distance they hit it over their old one. I wouldn't want to be giving up nearly 10 yards to the Callaway, regardless of how easy the Ping is too hit. If I was watching someone hit it 10 yards further than me on most fairways I'd be wondering why I didn't buy that Driver.

I love the Aerojet crown. Would much prefer that to Ping. But the g430 lst was so darn good for me I had to settle for it’s hideous crown.

Pete recommends/says how easy they are all to hit.......tosses Stealth in the bag hasnt hit a fairway since!!!!! Great review of these "helping" drivers.

when u say keeping it left do u mean drawing the ball or hitting it straight left or a bit of both?? did u hit any slices with the ping ??

I'm still trying to figure out how the company's have justified the $100-$150 increase in 'new model club' prices this year vs previous years. Used to be new clubs were in the $600-$700 range (CDN). Now there $700-$850. 15-20% increase over a single year? Supply and demand I guess. All I can say is that I went from 'Maybe I'll get a new club' to 'Heck no, I'll wait a few years for the price to come down'.

When you test these drivers, do you use upgraded shafts?

Pete, were those Ping results with the weight in the draw+ position all the time? Did you test the normal draw position to see the difference between the 2 settings?

What exactly do you not like about the titleist tsr3? It is by far the best driver I have ever owned or hit, and I always hit the new drivers every year! It looks, sounds and feels better than all the others and as far as performance they all pretty much do the same thing if fit.

Would love to see you set them up optumium for you at that speed, like lofts and sharft fitted

I can believe it’s Ping as I have just brought a g425 SFT and it’s fantastic 🎉

I want to like the Callaway but it looks like it belongs in a 1990’s hotel. Also all of the Good Good golfers use it and they miss the Fairway like 80% of the time. Luckily there short game makes up for it. My ping G425 although not the farthest flying driver out there does go perfectly straight fixing my draw perfectly. I have always used Taylormade but found the Sim2 and stealth harder to hit straight than even the M2,4, and 6…. The guy in the pro shop handed me the ping G425 LST and said try it for a round and 🤯….i ordered the irons, hybrids and driver the next day…. Also being that I’m 6’2 it was nice to get the white dot irons that fit me so good. Being I’m almost 50 years of age it’s hard to stay bent over so far all day so having the correct “Fitted” irons helped my game/back a lot….Ping all the way for me….all that said I have played with guys playing with clubs they got in high school and they played insane so 🤔🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

What shaft was used on the AeroJet?

I have a Ping G425 SFT 7 wood and I hit some beautiful high draws with it when struggle with low banana slices with other fairways. Ping clubs do what they advertise. Period.

Ridiculous prices for these drivers, and most others also. If one wants the new and shiney, wait till the end of the year as all will be discounted due to retailers trying to reduce their overstock inventory.

pretty hilarious to be testing the ping / callaway / cobra and using a mizuno ball when showing them in non shot shots against a ball :) ....speaking of which you said at start not to mention any others because you would explain why you were only selecting these 3 ...i thought i watched the whole video and cant recall any explanation ....just think from hitting it the other day myself ...that the mizuno might be worth a test ....cant see you have done anything on the mizuno and i know they arent usually great but i think they have cracked it this time around ....just prefer to see your reviews of stuff ...cheers ...PS come play australia ...ill show you around brookwater ....or you would LOVE dent island

If Ping could make the G425 sound like the G430, its perfect. I don't like the look of the G430 so wouldn't change. Ultimately both perform the same and its about sound/feel & aesthetics.

What about golfers that have a hook problem? I have never had problems with a slice

Just bought the Titleist TSR2, hit all the others but the numbers were just so much better and don't think we are getting enough reviews of it!

I really am baffled by the paradym love. It was definitely my least favorite and my whole group hated it TSR and Ping were the winners for us. However, none of us leaned draw biased, so who knows. TSR 3, then Ping G430 LST blew the comp away for me.

I learned today that if you're not working on your game, no equipment will be forgiven. I tried all the Maxes from different brands and they all showed zero improvement from my 15+ y/o driver. Work on your game and a set of decent clubs will still work.

I like the G425 better than the G430 idk why I think it’s just more appealing to me in looks

I thought offset was how much the hosel is in front of the face? I think your talking about the face being toed in or closed, not offset

Plenty of PGA Tour players have used "max" versions of drivers and even Keegan Bradley used to game the draw bias Taylormade drivers for a while. These drivers aren't just for high handicappers.

While I appreciate manufacturers making a driver that helps with a slice, I can’t justify the price tag. I have a standard driver, but put it in the upright setting to counteract my slice. I think a lot people with a slice would also benefit from that setting vs buying an anti slice driver.

Why wouldn't your recommendation be the Paradym X which showed a 0.6 offline? That is crazy forgiveness but you're recommending the worst driver Ping which went way offline to the left.

I understand why you couldn't test everything but I actually have the BAL H AJAJSJFBEFIVBSDVCEFJBCVIK in the bag and I really think it's worth trying out if you're looking for something that'll help control a slice

My G410 is 2 yards shorter than the G430 on testing Gona keep the 410 and save £500

Offset surely doesn't mean what you're saying here? Offset on irons are when the clubface is set back behind the hosel. Not where the toe is ahead of the hosel. Surely the concept would be the same with driver?

A golf club will never cure a slice.

I always try and get the most forgiving driver, however it might be me and not the clubs fault 😂
