I have used Pro Tools, Reason, Cubase, Ableton, Studio One, Cake Walk, FL Studio, Reaper, and Bitwig in over 20 years of producing electronic music. I can honestly say i love by far Tracktion Waveform it literally does everything fast, powerful, and all on one screen.
The free version of Studio One is a great way to start. It does not limit the number of tracks and it doesn't impose any time limits. It has less tools than the bigger versions and it doesn't allow adding other VSTs. The key reason why I recommend it (beside the fact that Studio One a great DAW with superb workflow) is that when you decide to move up to the higher versions, you're already familiar with how it works and you don't have to learn from scratch. I began with the Artist version that comes free with a Presonus interface and eventually moved up to the Professional version when I was ready. I'm pleased with the DAW's capability and work flow and recommend i without reservation.
If you have a Presonus interface that comes with Studio One Artist, register it on their website and then you’ll have a link to it in your account page on their site. If you just want the free Studio One Prime, download the demo installer for the full version and then when you get to that’s part that asks if you want to install the demo or continue with the free Studio One Prime, just select that second option and you’ll have studio one prime.
Even I’m young,I wanna make music with my voice, everybody around me (expect my aunt, uncle etc.) saying that I have a beautiful voice.thank you for this video, subscribed!!
Good luck with your musical journey. There’s a learning curve at the start. Stick with it and you’ll come out on top. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
for a free daw cakewalk is over the top. thier are alot of nline resources to help learn it and it has all the features you could ever need. couple that with all the excellent free resources zane has showed us on this channel and u can rival any daw no matter the price !!
Reaper's "workflow isn't the fastest?" X-D I have Cakewalk installed b/c I use a lot of the plugins in Reaper. One time I decided to force myself to open Cakewalk & create a song from start to finish. An hour later I beame frustrated and bounced everything over to Reaper. I accomplished in 5 minutes what previously took me seemimgly forever. PLUS Reaper has a feature **nobody** else seems to: An option to Override the device sample rate with the project sample rate. Every other DAW makes you change your project sample rate for the sample rate you're using to listen on~! Overriding with the project rate allows me to switch between USB speakers, the PC native soundcard, a USB headset microphone - I can check my music on different speaker systems right at my desk~!
Reaper and Reason 11 are the only DAWs out of the dozens I've tried that I'm able to use. Trying to record a song in Cakewalk is like doing a book report. I liked free Tracktion until an "update" turned it into just another convoluted monstrosity which can't even keep the effects on the track channels.
Everybody has different work flows. You have to understand that. I tried using Reaper, but I didn't like the interface nor the workflow. Something like the workflow of say, Bitwig suited me more.
Great video ! Newbie here... With any of these is there a looping feature where I can record my guitar and create a loop that can be stretched? Thanks in advance...
Just what is the best one thats fully free i saw a comment saying reaper is the best but i really want one thats fully free and good. I download it and its there forever
You don’t have to pay for Cakewalk it’s free but not open source. You can make music and release it however you want but you don’t get their source code for the program and you can not redistribute Cakewalk.
To me, Soundbridge looks the best for me. Simple design, not as cluttered as other DAWs shown, and packed up nicely. From my words, I imagine a man I a suit and tie but with the Soundbridge logo as a head lol.
These are helpful to newer producers. So far as I know, you're the only person doing these free DAW videos. Great work 👍🏿.........I agree about having more than 1 DAW. I have Ableton, FL Studio, and Cakewalk. (Still can't figure out Cakewalk) I ended up with Ableton
How did you get Ableton? They say on the website, that you need a license that you can only get with a Hardware purchase, but they dont mention what product or how to get it.
You covered a lot of a DAW software, but you didn't cover 'Ardour' which is one of the most popular Linux Daws, also available on windows and Mac. Would have been good to see how you weight it up to the other DAWs.
I have included it in previous videos. The reason why it’s not included is because I feel that there are much better options for that style of workflow. For me Cakewalk is a superior program that has the same type of workflow.
I am using cakewalk and I try to connect my harmonica but when I connect and go to "preferences" it only shows it in the midi and not in the audio and I want to play the virtual instruments such as the drums with the harmonica. does anyone know how i can do it?
Tracktion is free to demo then you have to buy it. Cakewalk is online only. I don't trust the internet. Soundbridge... 32 bit. Really? LMMS can't record audio? No 3rd party plugins on some of these? yikes I wish Reaper wasn't so convoluted.
Tracktion Waveform Free is literally called “Waveform Free” and it’s free. If you choose to download Waveform Pro it will be a demo. But the free version isn’t limited. It just doesn’t include some of the instruments and features that the Pro version has. Cakewalk is not online. You only need to be online to download it (like the other programs) Soundbridge has a 32 bit option but it’s also available in 64 bit.
Thanks gonna try some of these out. 😎👍 I'd like to say on the DAW's with limited tracks, couldn't one condense tracks and put the condensed tracks onto one track to free up more tracks ?
I use a cassette recorder, pen and paper, and an old piano pendulum metronome because by the time I try to figure out the software and computers and password sign in for the ? time today my music boner is gone. What I need is a personal nerd to follow me around and do all that crap for me so I can just create. Have all the gear...it makes a fine paperweight. Im just waiting for the breakthrough in technology that makes all this crap easy to use. Over it...
Hey, I’m an aspiring singer songwriter and want a music software program i can record my voice, my guitar and use their loops and to help me create a song with rhythm tracks and arrange tracks. Need simplicity to begin with as I’m virgin to this and also what do you think of Soundtrap studio?
Cakewalk is an excellent DAW. The way it operates is very similar to other DAWs like Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper and more. It has a ton of advanced features in it too, it’s incredible that it’s free. All programs are going to take time to learn. But once you catch onto one, like Cakewalk, you’ll be able to jump into others too. Here’s a link to a beginners guide to Cakewalk ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vArFTYlAvDk.html it covers the very basics.
My experience is regarding the first 3 daws: Cakewalk my computer brings it up as a virus threat can't get any further, Soundbridge is crashing from the very first moment (I heard I am not the only one) Waveform is ok but on the website first says waveform 12 but 11 can be downloaded only. Hope everyone has positive experience on these. Have a great day!:) I like your videos and I have had a couple of useful hints regarding plugins. Many thanks!
I try to play saxophone solo, at the same time I am trying to look at a software that has pre-music instrumental background where tones can change higher and lower pitch, what would you recommend? Because RU-vid has some but limitation, but these programs you mentioned they are good but time consuming to make a music loop and music instrumental background.
Not free but Mixcraft 10 is excellent for this. It comes with a huge library of tracks and you can easily drag and drop them to create backing tracks. It’s easy to make sure the timing works and all sounds are in the same key. It is Windows only software though.
Couldn't find out how to open Waveform. I downloaded it (mac) and downloaded the full file (not the installer.) It said to open it via the about section but I have no idea where that is nor can I find either file in my storage.
I'm here for two reasons. 1. My "Rap is Crap" video where I should include a parody rap of my own making oughtta have a good beat or obnoxious one at least. 2. I have for years been considering creating serious music despite not being good at music ever since learning the kid's version of Titanic for the piano. I have a plan to do a very amazing series of unexpected sound escalations in a ladder culminating in a grand climax dive with loops and stuff, if you know what I mean.
I’ve had cakewalk for a while and it would never work. Idk if I did something wrong or what, but it always sounded robotic and sped up 2x when I recorded vocals. I feel like maybe I messed something up when I first downloaded it but idk
Just starting to build my home studio and I’m looking for a DAW that will help create ambient music with guitars and synths and drum tracks. Which of all these would you recommend?
Thank u for the vid. Do u know of a tutorial for tracktion waveform. Im trying to lower the volume on a portion of a track but no avail. I appreciate any help.
@@AudioTechTV Your the man. This is exactly what I need . I learn a lot from your vids. I don't know how u keep up with all these DAWs so thank you for what u do.
I think Serato beat maker is perfect for me at this point as I want something for making background music for my videos and stuff at this time. Thanks for sharing!
I am getting issues with Cakewalk version 2021.12 ......... After successfully installing, when I launch Cakewalk and open a new project, it stuck on the message "Creating UI", then suddenly crashes. I tried almost every possible way, but no result. Anyone, can you help me please ?
Has anyone worked on "Music X" ? It was on Amiga program (long ago) you probably have to be my age to know it 😁: But it was a simple midi program. I used it to create my own songs and covers, Music notation page and you could print the music sheet. Easy transpose to another key If you had a new singer in the band we played along with the midi backing.. Drummer too drunk that night? No problem.. Un mute Drum track, (drums on CH 10 wasn't affected by transposing keys) so it knew the midi rules. I wonder if any of those programs in this Video used a similar (Simple for me ) interface.. ?
As long as you own the rights to everything you used to create the music. Meaning that you aren’t using samples or loops or pieces of other people’s music that you don’t own a license to use. If the music you create is by recording your instruments either real or virtual and you aren’t stealing other people’s songs then you own the music. The software companies do not own your music.
The definition of a DAW: "A digital audio workstation (DAW) is an electronic device or application software used for recording, editing and producing audio files." - taken from Wikipedia and several other sources. I can record, I can edit, and I can produce audio files with Audacity. Is it an ideal DAW to use for Music Production? In my opinion no. But there are a lot of people that use it as their main program for music production. If it works for them that's great and that's why I include it because I know it works for some people.
Replicating the sound of a game would come down to the instruments used and not so much the program used to program the instruments. I know a lot of game music producers use Native Instruments Komplete which is a huge bundle of great instruments. And you can add those to any DAW that allows third party plugins. There are also a ton of free instruments that you can download too and of course to polish the sound you would need some effects. Lots of feee ones out there. There are probably game music producers that use Pro Tools, some that use Logic Pro, some that use Cubase, some that use FL Studio, and on and on. Find a program that you’re comfortable with using and then try to add some instruments and effects to replicate the sounds that you’re after.
The first one is called Tracktion Waveform Free. The word Free is literally in the name of it. They have another version called Waveform Pro and that one costs money. You can download a trial of Waveform Pro but Waveform “Free” is always free, not a trial. Nice work understanding… 😂🤣😂
@@AudioTechTV yeah after the Testtrial you hear a Audiomessage in the Background (wtf) and the Export will be Limited somehow that's what the FAQ say...wait didn't you say limitless free..nice commercial
@@christossideris7971 you still don’t understand. I will try to make this easier for you: - you have downloaded Waveform Pro which is a trial until you pay. - you need to get “Waveform Free” this is the FREE version. That’s why the name is actually “Waveform Free” because it’s FREE. - if you get the trial of the pro version, you can register a copy of the FREE version on their website and then in the Waveform program you can login using the email and password that you used to register Waveform FREE then this will turn it into Waveform FREE. - just to repeat. You need the program that is actually called “Waveform Free” NOT the one called “Waveform Pro”. - you need to register Waveform FREE on their website and this will unlock the unlimited Waveform FREE program that hundreds of thousands of other people have managed to figure out and use.
As long as your songs aren’t using copyright material then yes you can upload your music to RU-vid or anywhere. Your music is yours and you are free to do what you like with it. It you use Magix Music Maker, it comes with a “Soundpool” you cannot use sounds from the soundpool in music that you plan on monetizing. But if you use virtual instruments or any other instrument that you record into the program then you can monetize it.
